  1. I have set a button ( button 1 ) on my TS16000 to the brakes. It's not an analog axis, but works and if you give brisk presses it emulates not using the one in the real aircraft down to full braking force. Together with gentle, but effective rudder inputs it is easy to steer. On takeoff, full stick back, full prop RPM, advance the throttle until you get Boost of arounf 8, and gentle but effective rudder dancing at the begining of the takeoff run. Using neutral or a bit of nose heavy trim helps ( nose heavy trim is indeed what is recommended in the POH ). The undercarriage is even worst than the 109k4 one.
  2. Yes, very true - another Beautiful Masterpiece!
  3. I'll try to get online tonight ( around 1900 UTC ) after configuring the basic stuff, provided the Spitfire is already available... Get ready to be shotdown Red :-)~ Look for "Herr_Target"
  4. Thx!
  5. I find it strange that meanwhile no additional videos have been published by Wags. Usually a module like the other ww2 aircraft get's at least two videos before release, including startup, taxi or taxi and takeoff and sometimes a full flight. Might it have been delayed ?
  6. I believe it's pretty much like that in as far as aileron goes, but we can still use rudder well above 750 kph IAS, and the elevator is also effective at higher speeds without the need for stabilator, unless you're really close to the ground...

  8. Excellent video and skills! Thx for sharing.
  9. Experienced the same at one of the MP servers.
  10. Excellence also in terms of ED Support. Last week and even today - Sunday!!! _ I oppened a few tickets which were all promptly solved by ED's Support Portal. Solving tickets during weekend is something I wouldn't expect! Kudos to ED not only for the modules and DCS, but, and above all, for the Teams behind the scenes!!!
  11. Can't provide one, I'm sorry... It was long ago, probably two years ago, when I noticed I used to be able to watch in some youtubes the blades of the Ka-50 waving under turbulent wind while parked at the gate of one of the airfields, and commented on the rather tame turbulence effects modeled in DCS. I know meteorology is not it's main focus, and they even tried to make a dynamic weather system which is great! Someone replied to my post telling that indeed it used to be more intense, but users had complained...
  12. What about the mouse cursor bug ? I didn't get it again on yesteradys try of the new release ...
  13. They all looked great to me, and I think that IRL one of those aircraft would rarely land under such x-wind components ( ? ) and even less takeoff... Actually I find that turbulence settings are still tame in DCS. I read somewhere they used to be mnore effective but users complained, and then they were tunned down - a pittty :-/ What about those promissed mountain effects ?
  14. In Life, those we Love are usually those we also push harder :-/ There are three sims I Love ex-aequo, DCS. IL-2 BoS and X-Plane... I actually am pushy against the three, many time picky with my critics, because I find the three so good, and they give me such an immersive experience that, that I want to make them PERFECT! While I usually kept installing and uninstalling each one in chain, for months / years... always trying to settle with just one, I finally settled with the three calmly and peacefully in my SDD... I use each one to it's best... DCS for detail in cockpit, IL2 for air combat in ww2 environment and X-Plane as a "World Wide" civil flightsim with lot's of potential.
  15. I strongly believe it is somehow related to density and the way it's being taken into account in the FDM. I gave away my Nevada module, but I recall having experienced some really weird behaviour there...
  16. And the difficulty in glimpsing out targets too... I rarely pick the 190, although I really like it's "handling", but I know that using it correctly / "historically" means B & Z... Now, most of the time I pick the 51d or the 109k-4 because I fly low trying to see any hints of aircraft in the distance just above the horizon ( and above me ... ). From up there, att 12k and more, I can't see a damn object down bellow :-(
  17. Based on the positive effects setting this to OFF in simulators based on OpenGL, and since DCS is not DX12 but rather DX11, today I created a profile for NI with threaded optimization = OFF. I also have "single display performance mode" set to single display performance mode and "Power management mode" set to Prefer maximum performance in the "Common" section. Apparently I got a more stable 60 fps ( I use VSync enabled in the DCS Settings ) at the MP server where sometimes I see the frames drop substantially near town or enemy airfield in the presence of multiple players... Can be placebo effect - will have to test further...
  18. That happens because you're missing the seat-of-pants sensation! You're a PILOT, remember ? You only did something wrong with it in your previous life ( my problem too I guess... ) so, in this one we're only allowed to play simulators... Well, I managed to play RL gliders too which is just great :-) Now, joking apart, I understand your frustration. But I believe the ww2 aircraft modelled in DCS are actually the kind of aircraft that can't be flown hands-off or trim and forget... They're naturally a bit unstable in some or all of their axis and couplings... That's why you can't find an easy way to fly level. Missing the forces and other sensorial feedback in your body also helps making things really difficult in a sim.
  19. Yes, it's a very tame effect. I don't recall how it was in previous versions though because it was a long while ago when I compared it to the A2A p51d, and asked at their forums to D Henriques, who explained that the drag should be quite noticeable, in sound, speed and AoA required to fly level... Not the case in the presente iteration of the DCS P51d, I believe... Will test with teh other aircraft when possible.
  20. It's a bit like in most gliders - raising the speedbrakes will not increase or decrease your speed, but will certainly increase the descent rate :-) As a simmer only in as far of these powerful ww2 fighters go, I can only compare to the A2A for FSX version of the P51d civil and military versions. On those models taking off and forgetting to raise the gear will certainly give you a very low top speed, and you will not be able to maneuver adequately... Which one is correct from a RL pov, only a p51d pilot can tell. I asked a few years ago about it at the A2A forums, and the p51d pilot who cooperates with A2A, D Henriques, replied that a significant drag resulted from a lowered LG, affecting speed in a way that would certainly be noticeable in maneuvering and just by checking your ASI. Well... Sims...
  21. My test offline revealed it seems ok after all. Choosing the default flight around Poti, I took control of the aircraft, trimmed it for level flight and then lowered the gear. When the gear is lowered there is a pronnounced pitch down moment, and if not countered the dive will result in increasing speed that compensates for the drag from the gear. But if you try to maintain your V/S then the speed will start to drop steadily. So, after all, it looks ok to me :-)
  22. Thx for the Humpty... Still far from my sim PC :-(
  23. Good hint that of a possible - simple FM - being used at the server I also made my tests at. It didn't come to my mind that might be the cause... Will try again latter today or tomorrow and report back.
