Haven't noticed anything on my side on the P51d or Tf51. I did notice changes to the Bf109 K-4 though.
-
I've noticed some different feel when flying the 109 after the latest patch. As before, it appears plausible to me. Maybe a bit easier to control on takeoff. Pre-stall buffet has been considerably tuned down too, which is OK since the 109 pilots report almost no "shaking" near stall.
-
Thx for pointing that out... I wasn't even aware there were tutorial missions for the 109... Will check it :-)

This temporary fix works OK for me too, in the p51d, fw190d9 and bf109k4. Thx for sharing

How will engines perform in Normandy's climate?
Anatoli-Kagari9 replied to Jaktaz's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
Depending on Season, DCS also simulates very plausibly the density effects due to geopotential surfaces being "streched" in hot Summer time and "tighten" in cold Winter. For the same QNH at an airfield, you will be able to notice the effect, with 5000' alt read in cold Winter being significantly lower AGL compared to the same altitude in hot Summer. I know of no civil simulators other than Aerowinx PSX, ELITE and Airlinetools A32X, that model this effect. -
109, issues to address before leaving beta

Yes, good points David! -
AFN-2 Homing Radio Clarification (BF109 & FW190)
Anatoli-Kagari9 replied to Charly_Owl's topic in DCS: Fw 190 D-9 Dora
Yes, but with what sort of beacons ? NDBs ? Markers / Locators ? At some airbases, like Batumi, it appears to work with the MM.... -
AFN-2 Homing Radio Clarification (BF109 & FW190)
Anatoli-Kagari9 replied to Charly_Owl's topic in DCS: Fw 190 D-9 Dora
Charlie, I guess the problem is that the beacon side is not modeled yet in DCS. It might come for teh 1st ww2 scenery area. Some MM beacons do work with it, but it's not true for all. -
Yes, see here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2777013&postcount=10

A little issue with the Supercharger...
Anatoli-Kagari9 replied to Jogui3000's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
True, because DCS models density altitude, and even the effects of the thinner atmosphere ( and deep in the geopotential ) during cold Winter days, although in this case it is noticeable only looking at the bottom info bar in external view, because for a same area QNH you will read the same altitude in the altimeter.... -
Based on the other thread where one of the users was complaining about how difficult it was to successfuly land the 109 in one of the Campaign Missions ( landing difficult ) where significant weather is set, with x-wind and turbulence bellow cloud base and down to the ground level, after having found out what might be the cause ( the tailwheel is not locked at the start of the mission ), I decided to continue taxiing after landing. Now, under a 90º 25+ knot wind I would expect some need for rudder to oppose weathervane, but my 109 continues to taxi straight ahead, aligned with the rw centerline, without need for much input. Looking from a rear outside view I can actually see it somehow being pushed sideways and slipping accross the rw, being pushed to the right ( downwind ) as a whole - it doesn't show a tendency to weathervane but it is sliding sideways to the right as if evenly pushed from the nose to the tail... I wonder if that tailwheel lock is that effective. Klaus Plasa actually told me it wasn't, from his RL experience...

I believe you will have total success simply by taking care of one detail - by default that mission starts with your aircraft in the air, clean, and with an unlocked tailwheel!!! Lock your tailwheel and it'll be success for sure :-) I usually set flaps at the third mark only, approach at no more than 220 km/h, in a crab, and just uncrab when I'm about to touchdown three wheel. Then stick full back, rudder and if needed a bit of asymmetric wheel brakes, if it starts to want to go one side and I do not appear to have enough rudder authority. Piece of cake !!! If you have the tailwheel locked... There is an effect that I do find weird though, and that is the efficiency of the tailwheel when locked, against the weathervane tendency. With the wind present in that situation, after I get to taxi speed I notice I can taxi straight, along the rw, without any tendency to veer... I would think the real aircraft should still require some steering with the rudder ( ? )

Superb! As usual ;-)

Ok, installed only the Early Access because I really want to test the latest updates that are released between stable versions. Most of the time when I leave an online session I get a CTD. I believe this was already the way it was the last time I had DCS installed... No big deal because it doesn't crash while playing, only when leaving the game, and particularly when I have been using in Multiplayer.
-
Thank you all guys! I had been doing that for months, but forgot... A long hiatus into X-plane and FSX can cause these lacks of memory :-)
-
Ah! Ok golani79 - so if I install the "Early access 1.5" I'll be able to install the Gazelle, right ?
-
Ok, so, I am re-installing DCS World to be able to experiment with the Gazelle. Question 1) At the download section I have two versions 1.5, 1.5 Early Access. I believe the Early Access is always the latest beta of 1.5, but, can I install this one alone ? I started both installers and noticed that apparently the Early Access one announces it'll download less content ( around 12 GB ) while the one that is associated with the non Early Access version indicated a download of around 20 GB ? Is there any difference between this two versions of DCS other than the Early Access one being an open beta ? Question 2) Can the Gazelle be installed in 1.5, or only in Nevada ? When it was released I believe it said in the shop that it was meant to be installed in 2.0, but the latest update to 1.5 mentions Gazelle compatibility ? Thx for any hints!

Firing rockets / missiles - no effect on yaw?
Anatoli-Kagari9 replied to Anatoli-Kagari9's topic in SA-342M Gazelle
Interesting points! I see, and it makes sense that way. Thx for your answers. -
I've been watching a few youtubes of the Gazelle, and I see rockets /missiles being fired, from a hovering state, without any hint of "recoil" on the helicopter. No bounce, no hint of yaw ? Is this realistic ?
-
In the meanwhile I found this: http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/3761-some-interesting-facts-confirm-about-bf-109-tail-and-wing-ra/#entry78608 Could this be a valid answer :-)

Can someone point me to a good source of info on the correct airfoil used in the vertical stab /rudder, specially on the G-2 model. Thanks!

Common problem of aircraft rolling left
Anatoli-Kagari9 replied to zackjollyroger's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
It's called - on of the best simulations of Prop Effects, ALL of them, in any PC-based flight simultor. The true P51d is certainly not a hands-off flyer. Every power adjustment, fuel imballance situation, AoA / speed variation calls for re-triming ( aileron, rudder and elevator trim...) I think DCS World does a remarkable, I'd say unique, job in recreating all of these effects: - torque - p-factor - gyroscopic effect - propwash / slipstream effects over the aircraft fuselage, wings, stabilazers, including asymmetric hit of those surfaces... - deflected propwash effects ( simulated to a level of detail I couldn't find in any other sim )... -
And even better, one can easily test the effects, since having the MW50 totaly or partially ( proportional to Fuel ) filled does make a noticeable difference in your CoG and stab trim need.
