  1. Thanks for the update - its not a show stopper, but it would be nice if he focused on targets that were close enough to possibly attack.
  2. After some time flying the CP/G seat, I've added some kneeboards for using the Hellfires and 30mm chain gun from that position, and additional George AI related kneeboards. These include: AH-64D CPG - AGM114 LZ HELLFIRE.png AH-64D CPG - GEORGE HELPER INTERFACE - PLAYER AS CPG-1.png AH-64D CPG - GEORGE HELPER INTERFACE - PLAYER AS CPG-2.png AH-64D CPG - GEORGE HELPER INTERFACE - PLAYER AS CPG-3.png AH-64D CPG - M230 30MM AWS-1.png AH-64D CPG - M230 30MM AWS-2.png

  4. Following up/bumping - any thoughts on this? Sometimes you need to go through a really long list that includes these out of LOS targets (that, again, he should not even be able to see, through hills/mountains). Thanks.
  5. After more tests, I believe I was too high (i.e. > ~1200-1500 feet AGL) when I noticed this behavior. I read somewhere in the AH-64D forum that there is a limit to how high you can be to use the radar altimeter for auto ranging. Thus I don't believe this is a bug, please ignore.
  6. Not everything is required, that’s just what I go through to set things up - I share as it might help others that might want to set things up similarly. It includes things like changing the IHADSS symbology (optional), and showing the weapons page to change the burst or setting gun ranging to auto, more optional stuff. The second part is if you want George to acquire the target, which would show on his TEDAC screen/TADS - that plus fire the gun with your consent, for example. I like to set up my right MPD to show the CP/G TEDAC screen to see the target zoomed in, things like that. Just arm, WAS the gun, point IHADSS on target, press weapons trigger guard (once), and press weapons trigger switch (first detent) to fire.
  7. These are the procedures I use to fire the chain gun from the pilot position (from my kneeboards in the user downloads): You can check them out here, hoping to add a few more for the AH-64D: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3321164/
  8. I’m still trying to figure the procedures for the CP/G and using the IHADSS, TADS, etc. I asked the original question because the only way I was able to slew the TADS cross-hairs was when I set the sight select switch to TADS (which had the overlay on the IHADSS as described). If I set the SSS to HMD, it wouldn’t slew. I would just deal with the overlay until I de-slaved after setting the acquisition source to the GHS and looking at the target. Then I would just turn off IHADSS while I looked at the TADS display and made the adjustments to put the cross-hairs on target. So I just wanted to turn down the overlay so I could see the target in the IHADSS :). I still have a ways to go, so I’m sure I’m not using all the controls right just yet :).
  9. Cool thanks. Edit, worked great, thanks again.
  10. Is there a way to tone down the bright green TADS overlay on the IHADSS when you set the sight select switch on the right grip in the CP/G cockpit to TADS? Seems there is a brightness control in the pilot cockpit, but I didn't see anything like that in the CP/G cockpit, or I just missed it. Thanks.
  11. Glad you got it to work. FYI, in the Downloads->User Files entry for my kneeboards (link above), I mention the following: The AH-64D kneeboards need to be placed in the AH-64D Kneeboard folder, for example: C:\Users\<your name>\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Kneeboard\AH-64D_BLK_II Also, in the Zip file containing the kneeboards, there is a readme with the same example/path. In any case, sorry if there was any confusion.
  12. Assuming you are talking about if you are in the pilot seat, and you use George AI and press George-Up to have him search for targets where IHADSS is pointing? You can zoom in to see what he's locked... for example: - On the left MPD (weapons page) select "Left MPD Pushbutton – R6", set acquisition source to TADS - On the right MPD select: Right MPD Pushbutton – VID, to select video Right MPD Pushbutton – R1, to select TADS underlay Right MPD Pushbutton – T6, to select TADS from CPG Right MPD Pushbutton – L1/L2/L3, to select W/N/Z view - Use George AI, press George-Up-Short to have him search for targets where you are looking with the IHADSS - Designate a target from the list (George-Right-Short) if he provides one, or he will self-designate if he only sees one (or if no units are there) You should now be able to see what he's looking at in the TADS on the right MPD, in whatever zoom you chose above
  13. Works ok for me, same folder (kneeboards are shown in either seat) While in the CPG cockpit, are you able to open the kneeboard window and your kneeboards are not there? Or you’re not able to even open the kneeboard window? I suspect the latter - you need to go into controls and choose the “AH-64D CP/G” instead of the pilot. Then map your kneeboard related keys the same as how you have them for the pilot.
  14. I believe when you stow the rocket pods, you would then aim using the dashed crosshair just under your ADL (centerline) diamond. While your IHADSS would move with your head movement, at least this fixed sight will remain stationary relative to the helo’s direction within the IHADSS field of view. You would just need to try and keep your head somewhat stationary :).
  15. I put together some simple procedural kneeboards for the AH-64D, placed in the User Files section. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3321164/ As stated these are not official procedures, just what I've put together as a quick reminder on how to employ various weapons on the AH-64D. Kneeboards included: AH-64D - AGM114 HELLFIRE GEORGE-1.png AH-64D - AGM114 HELLFIRE GEORGE-2.png AH-64D - AGM114L HELLFIRE PILOT WITH FCR-1.png AH-64D - AGM114L HELLFIRE PILOT WITH FCR-2.png AH-64D - GEORGE HELPER INTERFACE - PLAYER AS PILOT.png AH-64D - GEORGE QUICK REFERENCE.png (with permission from Raptor9) AH-64D - M230 30MM AWS.png AH-64D - UNGUIDED ROCKETS.png AH-64D CPG - AGM114 HELLFIRE-1.png AH-64D CPG - AGM114 HELLFIRE-2.png AH-64D CPG - AGM114L HELLFIRE WITH FCR-1.png AH-64D CPG - AGM114L HELLFIRE WITH FCR-2.png AH-64D CPG - AGM114L HELLFIRE WITH FCR-3.png AH-64D CPG - GEORGE HELPER INTERFACE - PLAYER AS CPG-1.png AH-64D CPG - GEORGE HELPER INTERFACE - PLAYER AS CPG-2.png AH-64D CPG - GEORGE HELPER INTERFACE - PLAYER AS CPG-3.png AH-64D CPG - M230 30MM AWS-1.png AH-64D CPG - M230 30MM AWS-2.png Enjoy! 16. Not really a tutorial, closer to a guide, but hopefully helpful to anyone new to the AH-64D or at some point rusty with employing some of the weapons. 17. Quick follow up. After further testing, I was able to change the rocket ranging to auto, after I changed from Hellfires both WAS'ing them as pilot to rockets, and having George AI WAS rockets after he was WAS'd to Hellfires. It doesn't seem consistent, so you may want to check just the same. Thanks.
  18. While creating a track for another issue, I noticed that George is targeting vehicles that are out of LOS (e.g. other side of a mountain/hill). I attached a track - if you notice when I'm having George search for targets near the IHADSS cross-hair on the near side of a mountain/hill, he will show on the target list SAM units that are no where near where I'm pointing. They are more in the background on the other side of the mountain I'm pointing at, and not visible. While the units in the list are generally in the area near the IHADSS cross-hair (from a 2d point of view), as noted, they are very far away and not in LOS, so there may be a bug where George is including those units incorrectly. can not change rockets range to auto after using hellfire 2.trk
  19. After using Hellfires with George AI, I WAS to rockets, then when I attempt to change the ranging to auto by selecting B6 (MANRNG) on the WPN page, and then clicking "A" and "ENTER" on the keyboard unit, the range information to the left of the FOR box on the IHADSS does not show "A". If I spawn an AH-64D and immediately WAS to rockets, the "A" does show up to the left of the FOR box on the IHADSS, so it seems to work otherwise. Not sure if this is a bug or something I'm doing/missing but wanted to verify. Track attached (described behavior above shows at the end). can not change rockets range to auto after using hellfire 2.trk
  20. In the pilot and co-pilot/gunner controls it's called: George AI Helper Interface – Show/Hide In the George AI controls, it's called: George AI Helper Interface – Hide You want to make all three the same key binding, so it will act like a toggle to turn George AI on/off with each press.
  21. It's pretty straight forward. Take a look at your DCS icon used to start DCS... right click and select Properties. In the "Target:" section, you should see something like this: "D:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\bin\DCS_updater.exe" Your path may differ, and it may show "DCS World" instead of "DCS World OpenBeta" in the path, but it doesn't matter. The key is that the program you are running is called "DCS_updater.exe". This program checks to see if there are any updates, and prompts you, otherwise it then calls DCS.exe to start DCS. All you need to do is: 1) Make a copy of your normal DCS icon/shortcut, call it "DCS update to Open Beta" or some such 2) Right click on this new shortcut, and click Properties 3) In the "Target:" section, change (using my path example above) it to the following: "D:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\bin\DCS_updater.exe" update @openbeta This will update DCS to the latest Open Beta. You can then use your original DCS icon/shortcut (the one with just "DCS_updater.exe"), and it will run DCS as per normal, but now it's Open Beta. Note: If you want to change your DCS back to stable, you can create yet another copy of the DCS icon/shortcut (like I described above), but change the "Target:" to the following (again, using my path example): "D:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\bin\DCS_updater.exe" update @release If this seems too complicated, you can always use Skatezilla’s utility as suggested by Rudel.
