  4. I hate discovering things like this but the sad truth is that AI still can't dogfight for shit. had a quick AI 2x F-15 vs 2x Su-27 which ended up as a 1v1 dogfight guns only. Both of them flew extremely retarded making all kinds of odd pointless maneuvers, like continous loaded rolls when they should be pulling for gun shot, and generally clueless behaviour. I know there's probably most focus on missile fight logic but dogfighting is a very important aspect. I'm surprised with the DCS P-51 module released that no improvements have been done to this since. It's kinda essential for WW2 aircraft. Come on ED! 1C did it with IL2, Neoqb did it with Rise of Flight, MicroProse/BenchmarkSim did it with Falcon-BMS... You must be able to create a proper dogfighting AI too. If you want to see what I mean simply throw 2 AI planes against each other with guns only and watch.

  7. its RGB colour (Red, Green, Blue) values 255, 255, 255 would be completely black. 200, 200, 200 would be some nuance of gray. higher the numbers, the darker, as long as all 3 numbers are the same you will get grayscale. increase one of the other. tip. use the full colour palette in MS Paint to check RGB colour appearance and values.
  8. F-15C is way superior to the Su-27S having no ARH missile (R-77) due to its Active Aim-120 and higher thrust. it's doable though.

B-17 The Mighty eighth Pretty much had full modelling of the B-17G, gunner positions, Navigation(dead reckoning), Bomb aiming and Piloting including Engine management(fully Clickable pit) and fuel management. on top of that you had crew management and damage control. yeh, I hate that, that game was single player only :( I never got into flying the B-17, but I did a couple of full engine starts, otherwise I mainly played as gunner and bombardier. oh and it also had full engine modelling of P-51, P-47, P-38, Me-109G, Fw-190A and Me-262 (yup jet fighter) if anyone happened to be interested in that sort of stuff and want DCS level fidelity.

  12. In extension of this. BRAA calls for FC3 planes lacking Bullseye readouts of anything would be great. Playable GCI/AWACS would be amazing.

Shouldn't motor rifle battalions APC/IFV have BRDM-2 instead of BMP-2/3 in their recon platoon? the Anti tank platoon of a Motor Rifle Battalion had 2 squads of 2x Fagot/Metis ATGM launchers each, so it makes more sense to replace the RPG dudes with 4 BTR-RD (which is an ATGM carrier) the Air defence Battalion (Soviet Air Defense Battalion SA13) Should have 2 platoons of 4 anti-air vehicles, not 2 platoons of 6 vehicles http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ZSU-23-4#Deployment - See deployment section
  14. Is there a way to make ground vehicles loop through their waypoints? there is no "switch waypoint" command for ground vehicles as there is for aircraft :( (WHYYYYY ED... its those little things :S)

  17. What do you mean? bottom right MFD in the picture in the OP is showing a HSD matching the FCR screen. How did you get that?
  18. by Using the little controller position indicater (right control + Enter) I've noticed that when trimming for straight and level cruise at high speed I end up with a stick trimmed forward and left and the rudder/rotation trimmed to a position right. How come this is neccecary to maintain straight and level flight? I was wondering if it was due to the asymmetrical layout of the helicopter with the cannon being located on one side or is it something else? It makes rapid banking to the left quite dangerous due to the blades passing each other very close on the right side.

  21. there was a tiny addon for FC2 that returned the option to change coalition after mission was created so I assume it might still be possible... somehow. silly design choice or lack theroff in my opinion. Why would you not be able to change coalition after creating the mission?
  22. I agree 90%. The last 10% is the lack of of a TAD/HSD in the F-15 making it hard to locate the A-10's you're escorting. but Since I came from FC2 I wasn't exactly expecting to see it either so I'm happy with FC3, I think most people have to large expectation of a simple repolish of a many years old game built as a sample sim
  23. Different issue with escort action: I have an MiG-23 take off from Beslan and at it's 1st stearpoint it's set to escort Su-24 taking off from Mozdok. To get their rendezvous timed I set the escort flight to spawn 5 minutes after game start. I had 3 similar pairs of Bomber-Escort taking off from seperate airfield with different time delays. the result was that all escort flights would take off and then continue on the runway heading forever, basically flying off the map on the heading that they took off on. I tried changing the escort action to different stearpoints with same result. I tried having the escorts spawn mid air. Same result, they just fly straight ahead forever. Changed one of the flights to Fighter sweep and it would follow it's stearpoints like normal so clearly something wrong with the escort action. I think it has to do with the spawn delay. Ideally the escort flights should, upon reaching the waypoint with an escort action, head for the bomber flight they are to escort and form up with them. Please fix this ED
  24. ATC will give you bearings to the approach point for the airfield, not the runway itself.
