  1. OK, had a read, sounds like the prepare mission thing is a bad thing to do.. Well I dont think I did it, unless that is what the blue "fly it now" button is! Not got the simulator to hand so I cant check...
  2. Hi, I can upload the mission files when I get back to my laptop. I did not save a track but it is easy done. HOWEVER I dont think I did this "prepare mission" thing, I more or less made the mission, saved it, then hit the bllue button (fly it now?), I also tried opening it as a saved mission from the main lobby. In all cases I went into the weapons manager and selected a loadout for the jet. Im just going to have a read those linked threads and will revert.
  3. I dont often make my own missions but been giving it a go recently. First off a simple mission, me, wingman against SA8. Ramp and runway starts. DSMS shows all stores as expected. When I tried to make it a bit more interesting (a few friendly air units and a few extra enemy grund units) I found that my DSMS page had red boxes for the top 4(?) stations on each side. The sidewinders and ECM both showed up though. No matter what I try I cant get it to show up the stores. I have tried getting the groundcrew to rearm it, they do but no stores shows up, I have reloaded the DSMS, but no stores show up, if I go into the INV part of DSMS it shows red "I"s at the stations, when you click on one it says "check payload-CBU105 detected" or something like that. What am I doing wrong? I tried making a new "complicated" mission from scratch and get the same condition.
  4. Hey those nose wheels dont grow on trees you know. And you-ve dented the front bumper. Looks like the GFs car.
  5. I remember reading during the Bosnian campaign that they were dropping huge numbers of dumb bombs, some of them VERY old, and often failing to explode, because they had presumeably run out of stocks of LGBs.
  6. Ive been unable to fire up the A10C for a while. Getting back in after 6 weeks was a great experience. I just had time for an instant action, medium hard, winter. Just to see how it is all going after the update and if I can remember what to do. At first, for a few moments, its like "what the hell am I doing here!" Wags is telling me the target is a truck with green smoke bla bla.... I know! I can see that sucker! Im about to go right over him! but what am I supposed to do about it!- where do I start! then its like muscle memory takes over...Oh yeah, master mode. guns. point. Kill. Rockets. Kill....next target..try the TGP, Mavs, LGB....kill...kill..gradually ascending up above the clouds to 24k and then polished off with a beautiful dusk ILS into Batumi. Its surprising how quickly it all comes back. I am really enjoying the new update, great to see some of the little details getting sorted..the G max/ min needles for one. the canopy reflections..The flight model feels different, but maybe I am just a bit unused to the agile A10 after a couple of trips in PMDG 737. The software seems completely smooth and stable, no obvious errors (good ridance flying tree shadows!). Such a breath of fresh air after trying to setup a smooth flight in FSX that doesnt end in CTD... So, as ive said before... Thanks ED! it is truly a remarkeable cutting edge simulator, the like of which I though I could only ever dream of..Now if only I had more time!
  7. Hi Sov13t Yes I saw those as well. I decided to get the 920s in the mean time to see what they are like. I got the wrap 920s reconditioned so they were cheap. If they are any good I will upgrade to the 1200s depending on reviews and price. My 920s arrived today, they are an impressive looking piece of kit, Good quality on first impression. They have sort of miniture HUDs, like a lense in front of each eye. Unfortunately I havent had a chance to try them out yet. I get the impression that the field of view is going to be even smaller than I was expecting. I will let you know how they are once I get them running.
  8. Well I spend 6 months of the year on ships in the North Sea and have never been seasick, I have never been airsick either. I certainly do not expect to get airsick from using a HMD, just as I dont when using Track IR I am not in the sligtest bit worried about being able to find the keyvoard or mouse, I can type without looking at the keyboard and can also play the piano two handed. You just DO these things. Besides its a clickable cockpit.
  9. Hi JimMack, Those virtual research ones look pretty good! Howver I think 40k might be more than I can afford at the moment..
  10. Thanks for the replies! I have done a little research and on an impulse bought something called Vizux 920 wrap. I think it has been tried before, there is an old thread on KA50 about it, apparently the resolution is too low for serious use but hopefully soon it will improve enough to be an amazing experience at a affordable price. I have no room for a big screen setup, so a virtal reality solution would be ideal for me. As for not being able to see the keyboard, most Hawg use is HOTAS or clickable cockpit so I dont see it being much of a problem.
  11. Hi, when anyone else starts the APU does it sound for the first second or so like an Alien spaceship has warped into existance just behind the Hawg? It has been like this through all recent patches on my machine. Im sure its not the right sound, it sounds a bit rubbish to me. Sorry if this has already been covered, but wasnt sure what to put into the search engine.
  12. YEah you can tell see the difference between C1 and C2, I was flying C2 the other day and the JTAC was really usefull, gave me the target by TAD link, then afterwards popping "willie pete", I know at night there is extensive use of laser beams, oh and he gave me a laser on a day mission too, unfortunately it is such a rare occurrence that I completely forgot what I was supposed to do. You nearly always have a SEAD and CAP flight you can call in, it just feels like a major operation, properly organised. I think my Favorite is C1 though. It feels desperate, the allies have been caught on the back foot. They are taking a pounding. The JTACs are running for their lives, The CAP line is thin. You got a few German Tornados instead of American F18s providing SEAD, they are not too effective... Its got a good dynamic to it I think. A strong vibe. I used to love it with the hanger starts and dark cloudy sky. The more campaigns the better, I think with isolated missions its hard to get a feel for the degree of the threat, there is not that widespread tactical awareness that comes from flying a few missions out over the battlefield, its too easy to be too complacent or too cautious. Hard to judge I think.
  13. Just read a couple of books, I can confirm extensive use of binoculars, apparently find the target with binoculars, focus in with TGP was a common way to go. Also I read about harrier pilots having a little laser device attached to their finger with a range of 2-3miles (IRC). Then all he needs to do is physically point at the target and his wingy can see it and acquire with TGP. How useful is that!
  14. Do they not actually work at all with the DCS series? I want to use TIR5 anyway and was thinking getting the VGA ouput onto the goggles shouldnt affect anything in game?
  15. Hi Im just trying to get up to speed on this, anyone following developments in this field? I am buying some reconditioned Vuzix wrap 920's to get started with. From this thread I get the impression they wont really be much use, but a interesting taster of things to come hopefully.
  16. Does anyone use any kind of goggles that project the image in front of your eyes, with Track IR to make a virtual reality? If this thing exists I would buy it immediately, regardless of cost. Anyone know of such a thing?
  17. Hi Ice! Congratulations on finding DCS A10C! I am sure this is the best sim you can fly at the moment.. When I discovered it I took like one shot on my iMAC, deliberated for about 5 minutes, and went and bought a gaming machine instead, (all previous plans of going Mac probook and probably leaving sims behind me went out the window). As for your question, I have always been into aviation and flight sims. I would love not to have to fly flight sims, but you just cant do these things in the real world. Enjoy!
  18. Surely you can not get a proper carrier into the Black Sea. Therefore no Hornet. Maybe Marines Harrier, that would be good too. Given all the Su25 stuff in the past I wouldnt be surprised if it was another one of those. Obviously someone at ED likes em. Can not see a 2 crew system working well. So no Apache or F15E. F16 would be sweeeeeeeeeet. Gonna be big ques at the tanker when they make a FJ. Just read a couple of JTAC books- its like, "FJ arrived, dropped a bomb, bugged out for lack of fuel, came back 30mins later, dropped another bomb, bugged out through lack of fuel". Thats fine by me, I like tankin now.
  19. Thanks for the useful tips Viper!
  20. GADAMMIT, THATS TWICE! I WANT SOME BUTTS! edit , Not really, just another classic TG moment...
  21. Has anyone any good tips for acquiring the inbound threat with the TGP whilst the bogey is still beyond visual range. This is one thing I still use labels for..
  22. I am sure down wind turbulence (rotor) is modelled, unless it was a coincidence, I hope so, thats a really nice feature to have.
  23. Hi Druid, Your advice about flying a little lower was good. Not getting any disconnects now untill Im fully topped off. And it is just a slight bit lower that seems to do it, maybe a couple of feet. Thanks. Got times down to 13min41secs but stopped now as developing bad habits flying the ILS at 340 kts!
  24. Probably is a better way, but when you are flying are there awesome cockpit shadows? if so then its 1108.
  25. YEah I think the Warthog is VERY easy to fly, but I did give a mate a shot and he kept yanking on the stick and stalling in, but gernerally its fairly viceless and stable, the KA50 however... phew that thing was nasty. rotor blades always hitting each other and things, cant decide if its a helicopter or an aeroplane, crazy trim stuff and autopilot modes...and I find all the russian instruments and layout very difficult to comprehend. I feel so much more comfortable in the Warthog, but I wouldnt be surprised if some of us are so much more comfortable in the Blackshark. Most difficult thing for me in the Warthog is the number of commands that are avialable on the HOTAS, that took a long time to master and even still I tie myself in knots regularly. Can always resort to the gun and a dumb bomb though, or just send wingy in! Or occasionally just flying around and CANNOT see a tank that JTAC has said is close to such and such. Thanks again all for contributing to the thread!
