exporting weather conditions to briefing?
bluepilot76 replied to july865's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Oh it sounds like I have misunderstand the problem.. I thought you were looking for a way to get the information from the mission planner where you can see the weather (I think) and transfer it to the new paused screen (1.1.10) where there is mission information once the game has started. I have only tried online once or twice, I thought there was a mission planner page before you start with all relevent info. If not then I see your problem! Sorry for confusion! -
Fish, about your asymmetric throttleup near the threshold...when I was learning to fly twins, was taught to choose a ACA asymmetric comittal altitude. For us it way soothing like 600ft aal. You have to decide before that whether you are committed or not. Once you are, you are landing. You wouldn't really need a fist full of throttle unless you had screwed up your approach, however it shouldn't be the end of your life if you do, you have your rudder, but basically ACA should be your latest go around height , the idea is there is plenty of altitude/ time to spool it up nice and smooth, get it back up to Vyse and fly another circuit. Just to add, the ACAwas your decision height, but it didn't mean you couldn't descend below that. The height was there for you to use to safely accelerate to Vyse.

It's not mandatory to have fuel dumping in commercial aviation, for example the 737 does not have that facility, and nowadays it would only happen in an emergency as fuel is getting a bit expensive. I should think the A10 could land with any amount of fuel and stores which is not the case for eg 747 If things are that bad that your contemplating having to crash land with lots of fuel or bombs that you can't expend for some reason, I would think the correct procedure is to pull the yellow/ black handle. Sure the USAF has a few spare A 10 sitting around in a desert somewhere

exporting weather conditions to briefing?
bluepilot76 replied to july865's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
But if it's in the briefing it's still no good to you unless you keep pausing it. Just do what they do in real life: take a piece of paper, and a pencil, and write whatever you need down. Simplest is best, can't go wrong really. -
Oh no, I hope it's not a 2 seater as all my friends are not into flight simulators and would make useless navigators / bomb aimers or whatever the GIB does. I'm not going back there. I'm the driver.

Patch 1.1.1.0 for DCS: A-10C Warthog (English) Released
bluepilot76 replied to pvtkramer's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Attached screengrab of the error and the relevent track. Hope it helps. Theres also a good example of what NOT to do when you only have one engine and a choice of valleys to fly up...Mercifully short.. JTAC Radio Error.trk -
Awesome Senaki base mod on youtube

Cool, I suppose the comparitive lack of action at airbases, ie probable not using TGP, probably not a million rounds of bullets to keep track of, mean that there is a bit of spare capacity for extra details. Can the approach lighting system be modded as well? The stock Senaki ALS is really bad in my opinion. -
Patch 1.1.1.0 for DCS: A-10C Warthog (English) Released

I also had the problem with the JTAC voice, three times now, twice on "In the weeds", once on Kashmuri gap or whatever its called.. I think it is after 9 line readback, the further instructions bit. There is no sound, a long line of gobbldygook text. I ignored it and carried on with the script and then it reverted to normal. I will save a track if I see it again. -
exporting weather conditions to briefing?
bluepilot76 replied to july865's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Yes I think the weather effects can be amazing in this sim, its just a shame they are not often used. A mission could be much simpler, but be more interesting, if the weather was bad. You can orbit around at 20k all day and kill tens of tanks, but its not that intersting, or you can stooge around under a 1000ft cloudbase in heavy rain and hunt for a single column of tanks. That would be interesting. Sorry its that is slightly OT. I think the ATC or ATIS could be implemented to create weather reports, or maybe a knee board in the cockpit with the days weather conditions on it. If I want to have information from the briefing that I take on the mission, I usually just take a picture of it with my phone. That is fairly simple solution. -

Wow thats amazing. Does changing stuff like this affect screen rates? I have never been in the modding section before - big mistake! -
Damn! Hook Line and Sinker! You never know with flight sim nuts though. Buggin Out.

Not tried this. Noticed yesterday that next to the refuelling door lever there is a fairly big rotary with stuff about refuelling lights. It was day so dont know if that would help. Im sure you should be able to do it without NVG though, I dont think they are always used in night flying?

After patches we have to do everything different
bluepilot76 replied to vortex360's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
To be fair to OP, if you are REALLY stoned, it gets quite hard to tie your shoe laces, let alone operate something as complex as the A-10C. I dont think the manual is the way to go though. Way too much to take in. -
Watch some of the YT videos to get a feel for the sort window that you can operate in. You dont need to be completely rock solid, there is a box maybe 1.5m cubed that you can manoevere in without a disconnect. I think when I realised this it took away the tension and allowed me to be more relaxed on the boom. Next thing you know youve got a tank full.

exporting weather conditions to briefing?

Every mission I have flown has been blue skys, scattered cumulus at 7000 feet, irrelevent temperature, negligible wind. Its a pity that more interesting conditions are not more commonly used. If they were I think there would be use for this. Or maybe just a half decent ATC that would give you the weather at startup. An ATIS frequency for example. The original campaign Devils Cross had the best use of weather I have seen in the sim. Then again maybe Im not getting enough airtime to see that there actually is some variety in the weather. -
Maybe ED has seen what sort of action is going on in ROF, seen a massive hole open in the market for WWII since COD was a disaster, and decided to stick there toe in the water with a "Flying Legend". A little bit of map somewhere (just get the boys from the Nevada terrain to do a bit of overtime) and before you know it you have Spitfire Vs 109 online dogfight heaven over dover. Id be in.

This aerotractor idea, and super tucano whatever, is surely dead in the water. We already have a slow air to ground machine - its called the A-10C.
-
To be fair, FSX may be a bit of a mess, but with a couple of addons it does a few things a lot better than DCS. I am thinking about ATC, AI, Weather, Size of simulated world, Terrain mesh, variety of aircraft, Admittedly, you cant blow stuff up, but I dont think you will be doing much of that in a P51 either.
-
Yeah it seems most likely but I was just trying to think out of the box. I mean has anyone ever correctly predicted what the next DCS release was going to be? ED seem to be masters of security. Better than governments...No leaks. Seems strange that they would slip up here with the P51 folder. Might be a red herring! FWIW I dont mind what they do next. Lots of things I would like, but whatever, looking forward to it.

From the website, The FLying Legends seems to be an airshow organised by The Fighter Collection. All of TFC aircraft are prop. I wonder whether The Flying Legends Airshow aircraft can include jets. I am thinking L39. There was some very detailed models of L39 in recent video that Wags introduced here. L39 would be useful addition. Or maybe MiG15. That definately is a legend, and conceviably could be put into the air by some rebel group in the current theater. A good use for P51 I think would be Reno style races in the new theater. Not much to do with DCS concept though
-
Well done Effte.. Time put this one to bed. No haggis! you'll nae be wanting a wee dram either then... Shall we call it a truce Viper!, untill they put some flyable MiGs in the sim anyway...
-
I would like binos too. preferably without having to delve into the workings of the sim, that gives me the heeby-jeebies.
