  1. Since the last update, I've had issues with my stick jumping around in all modules. It doesn't go away when I disable FFB, but it does when I change both values to 0 in FFB tune. I have a track if anyone wants. Anyone else? Edit: on a side note, my external views seem to want to be controlled by freetrack. This is also new since the patch, and very annoying.
  2. My F2 mouse pan isn't working at all whenever freetrack is running. It'll try to move the camera, but the camera just moves back to its default angle instantly. Works fine when freetrack is off. Thoughts?
  3. Nope, satellite downlink, if memory serves. Perhaps tied to the special uplink control that's also not modeled?
  4. You can also switch your laser off and lock him up so that the Shkval automatically tracks him. I find that this lets me get everything else prepared for the engagement. The manual doesn't say how the proximity fuse works, but my money is on magnets. That's how older AIM-9 missiles did it (they rely on infrared now). Anyone else have thoughts on this?
  5. Turn on your weapons system power. It's the switch to the right of the red zebra ejection switches.
  6. Are you saying that it won't follow the route? As in, it will fly to the currently-selected waypoint and then stop? If so, you need to program the waypoint sequence. After you enter your flight plan, set the PVI to OPER. Select waypoint, then press 1, ENT, 2, ENT, 3, ENT... and so on until you've gone through your flight plan. Then, deselect the waypoint button. Reselect it and you should be good to go!
  7. Is the 104th A2G running 11855 yet?
  8. Are you holding the space bar for one full second? I believe the weapons stations is a bug and has been reported. Anyone able to confirm this?
  9. Huh. I'll double-check. I get no pilot talking at all when I do it. Maybe the JATC mod messed this up...
  10. Anyone?
  11. When I request NVG installation now (1.2.4), the ground crew says and does nothing. Anyone else have this? Edit: Tried in single and multiplayer. Requesting either NVG or HMS installation results in nothing. Anyone else?
  12. The sad thing is I'll still get it faster that way. Things are supposed to stay activated, even if I uninstall, so there's no need to pull out my BS1 DVD, right? I'm so confused by the activation system...
  13. So I need to uninstall 1.2.3 first, correct? ...I really don't want to lose any more activations...
  14. Just to clarify: I can torrent the installer and it will automatically uninstall 1.2.3 and install 1.2.4? And it won't use up an activation? And all I'll have to do is back up and restore my settings and controls?
  15. Okay Folks, I've been wondering about this for awhile. How do you deal with doppler return off of rotors when you want a "stealthy" helo? The RAH-66 was supposed to be "stealthy" (conformal weapon bays and all that), but won't you always still have that massive return from the eggbeater on top? Is RAM really good enough to hide your rotors from a fast mover's radar?
  16. Make sure your intercom switch is on? And you shouldn't need to set a frequency to call the ground crew.
  17. TARS replacement?
  18. The collective will continue to work even with the engines off. Heck, before you do a ramp start, play with the cyclic and collective and watch the blades move =) Don't try to hover when you cut the engines. It will drop your rotor RPM very quickly, and you won't generate much lift. Forward speed is the name of the game. There's a chart on page 61 (or 4-13) of the flight manual showing what speeds to avoid at what altitudes. Basically, keep your speed up until you're ready to touch down, then pull the cyclic back and the collective up to bleed back the speed. It's very much an art. If you want to upload a track, I'm sure some folks here could take a look at it.
  19. Depending on your HOTAS setup, this can be a great use for the cyclic HAT switch (at least, if your Shkval slew controls are on your collective). I use a TM Warthog and the HAT switch works perfectly for the spotlight. Whether it's useful in combat is another discussion entirely. I wouldn't try it against anything that can shoot back. If you're on the ground getting shot and you see bullets coming from the big bright spotlight in the air, what is your reaction going to be? You'll probably start aiming for the big flying spotlight =P Edit: Illumination flares are actually pretty useful if you're flying with a wingman in multiplayer. You can have them hover a couple hundred meters off to your side, launching flares every 5-10sec while you engage with Vikhrs. When you're out of Vikhrs or they're out of flares, switch roles. You can rifle off your munitions and clear lightly-defended targets pretty quickly this way. Alternatively, get a Su-25 or A-10C to drop some of their fancy flares that burn longer and brighter than yours. Those are even more useful!
  20. I'm more interested in the AIR-2 Genie and the AIM-26 Falcon. These would definitely liven up dogfights, would they not? And if you thought the SPAMRAAM was annoying, wait until all the F-15s on the 104th start lobbing guided nukes at P-51s and Ka-50s!
  21. Chechnya, for one. S-8 rockets were the most-used weapon, with 929 being used! You could almost fly with it... I personally find it easier to place the pipper on-target when I'm moving. I don't know if this has anything to do with it. +1 on flechettes!
  22. Anyone else first get exposed to rotary sims via Novalogic's Comanche series? Ah, the memories =D
  23. Not very well. Yes, it's doable, but pedals are even more important for rotary aircraft than for fixed wing. I'd strongly recommend saving up for a pair.
  24. But the flight manual says,
  25. Please Russia, tell me how much I have to pay you for one of those! I want to commute in a Ka-50/52 in the worst way! Imagine the dates I could take my wife on in a Ka-52!
