2. Interesting thing that took me awhile to figure out: I always thought, "If there's an inverter, why do I lose the Shkval when rotor RPM drops? And the doppler, too?" Low and behold, the manual states that the POS-500B inverter only supplies the: Radar altimeter Oil pressure switches Fuel gauge G-load accelerometer RPM and EGT indicators Vibrations monitoring system IFF equipment (important when it's modeled) Warning and indication systems Audio tones for rotor RPM drop (helpful, considering that RPM drop is one of the more common things that'll kick in the inverter in the first place) Emergency instrument panels illumination Note that the Shkval and Doppler aren't on that list. Just an interesting thing I discovered awhile back.
3. I modified this mission to add Hogs for multiplayer fun. The Hogs have killed the friendlies every single time (except when they get hit by the MANPAD first).
4. Yes you can set it to an English cockpit. I don't fly the A-10C. I fly the Ka-50 quite a bit. That being said, here's my understanding of the differences: The A-10C is a plane. This means it's much easier to fly. Once you get off the ground, as long as you just don't point it at the ground and you'll stay in the air. The Ka-50 is a helicopter. This makes it much more of a challenge to fly. It's got some nifty autopilot features that help make it much more stable. Still, it'll take you longer to get it off the ground and it'll take more skill to keep it off the ground. When it comes to avionics and weapons delivery, the opposite is true. The A-10C has a bunch of really nifty systems that allow for very powerful targeting and weapons delivery. It also has a veritable arsenal of available weapons, each with their own parameters. The Ka-50, OTOH, has a smaller collection of weapons, and only a handful that are regularly used. You have Vikhrs (guided missiles), rockets of a couple different flavors (all of which operate pretty similarly) and a kickass 30mm autocannon. Once you learn to shoot these, you have 95% of combat employment covered. Yes, it also has gun pods, munition dispensers and unguided bombs, but those are used much less commonly. The time I've spent in the Shark has been very rewarding. I highly recommend it because I think it's a blast to fly and because the sim could use some more talented chopper pilots (lotsa Hogs in multiplayer). Be prepared to spend a couple of weeks just getting the bird in the air and keeping her there. Once you have that down, combat employment shouldn't take too terribly long. And once you are proficient, there's nothing like hovering outside of a target's engagement range and taking leisurely potshots while the Hogs circle and circle and circle =)
5. Is this because the radar relies on the doppler effect?
6. If you dip down too low (3m, IIRC) the AP channels cancel. If you drop the rotor RPM low enough to kill the generators (you can tell because the Shkval will momentarily die), you kill the doppler radar. If you try to activate (or have already activated) auto-hover with no doppler, it'll kill the AP channels. You need to wait for the doppler to come back online (a couple of minutes). Those are the two that come to mind off the top of my head.
7. "If you're looking for a serious simulator where it takes 65 years to start your plane up, then go ahead! This game is for you!" I only fly the Shark, so I'd be as lost as him in the Hog pit. That being said, watching this has to be like pulling teeth for any of the Hog pilots =) "Just push the button already! PUSH THE BLOODY BUTTON!"
8. Aha! Much thanks! I've wondered about this on and off for awhile. It's now added to my startup checklist =) Why wouldn't you fly with this on?
9. This has been bugging me for awhile. Betty has files for many different messages, but all I ever hear her say is, "Watch EKRAN" and "Danger! Under attack!" Is it possible to turn on these other voice messages?
10. Is there some way to get the hangar doors to open? If not, then I've had the repeated bug on the 104th server of the doors not opening. It sucks.
11. Also worth noting is that the doppler radar on which the auto hover and HUD ground speed indicator rely is powered by the AC generators and takes a couple of minutes to warm up. In my experience, if you drop the RPM low enough to cut the generators (hint: the shkval momentarily turns off), you have to wait a couple of minutes for the doppler to come back online.
12. I'm pretty new at this whole radar thing. When I zoom out to 160nm and adjust my elevation so that I'm scanning angels 0-60, how far out is that 0 elevation? In other words, if I'm at angels 30, I'm scanning 160nm with my elevation adjusted so that I can see angels 0-60, how far away does an aircraft flying at, say, angels 3 need to be for me to pick him up? If I adjust the angle lower so that it says I'm looking at angels 0-20, does that scan any closer to me?
13. Here ya go...Logs.zip
14. While on the 104th's server, I get this in the F10 map. The icons stay in place on the screen and don't change when I pan or zoom.
15. While in STT and coming in for guns, I get this text overlap in the lower right hand corner of the VSD. Pics attached.
16. It happened again. Made it mostly through the A2A practice mission. Tried to lock up the toad, and... 17. I deleted saved games, made sure I didn't have any mods installed, then repaired. It seems to be fixed.
18. I admit, I'm brand new to this. When trying out the FC2 A2A practice mission (or the clean sweep mission), I switch my radar on, and then I see blips. I move the gate over a blip, press enter, and... nothing happens. I try it a couple more times. Then the game crashes. Then the launcher crashes. This is miserable =/
19. Is there still supposed to be the air-to-ground mode in the F-15C controls? Because it's still showing in mine...
20. Ah, nevermind, found the FC2 folder. Sorry =)
21. I'm brand new to LOMAC/FC and I just downloaded FC3. Um, is that all that there is for missions? Just an F-15C campaign and a mission or 2 for each bird? Or is there something I'm missing?
22. Set the ripple quantity to По 2 (to use 2 pods) or По 4 (to use 4 pods). Key combo to change ripple quantity is LCTL + Space. If you haven't yet read through/watched the tutorials, check 'em out here: http://lockon.co.uk/flaming_cliffs_2/training/Su-25T.php
23. I believe that if you leave the switch on 'ALL', the HUD displays the ammo quantity for the internal gun PLUS the gun pods. Once you exhaust the pods, it'll show less than 4 because it's showing total ammo quantity, including the pods.
24. I'm pretty sure that they just slew it down. Regardless, as far as I can tell, we shouldn't be seeing this animation. On a side note, do the devs read this forum and fix things brought up here, or do actual bug reports need to be created?
