  1. Thanks for the update. I should have posted a correction a long time ago. I currently running 576.52 and the problem came back so I'll have to troubleshoot further to see hat the problem is. If you don't mind, could you try it again? I'm just wondering if I was able to get into safe mode because the reversion wasn't followed by a restart prior to trying to get into safe mode.
  2. I don’t think so….. I currently have hyperthreading disabled again and DCS runs incredibly well. fast load times, preload radius loads very quickly vs seeing a slow transition of water to ground terrain then buildings and so on. To be fair I will add that I did change my memory clock from 5400 to 5600 using “memory try it” in my BIOS. I suck at manually tweaking my memory so I had to use MSI’s feature. That little adjustment sped up my load times, BUT - if I re-enable hyperthreading it basically kills any hope of flying without some sort of lock up. I really do think that there is an issue here and I hope ED really does take another look at hyperthread support because it is like night and day when it’s disabled vs enabled. In all my experiences hyperthread enabled ruins the game vs hyperthread disabled fixes every long load and stuttering issue. I will do a little research into tweaking my memory manually and see if it’s a memory issue conflicting with the CPU but it doubt it’s a factor since I never had to do anything like this after the update that was released almost a year ago that directly addressed full and hyperthread support. That update was amazing. Since then it has been touch and go with hyperthread support. one update fixes it and another ruins it and so on. Curious to know how others are doing with this.
  3. THIS IS WHAT I USED TO DO BUT NO LONGER WORKS In a mission with three bandits and me with 6 aim120c I can usually target all three jets and fire on them consecutively. This is how I used to do it select TWS mode set to AUTO let the lead jet get automatically locked in TWS and let the track file populate. At 80 miles i back out of radar and select “ANZEL” and the “AUTO” Back to radar select EXP to expand the view. select RAID from there I can press “S” to toggle through the targets in TWS and fire at will. That method no longer works. When I set it all up similarly, pressing “S” doesn’t toggle to the other contacts. Just stays locked on the lead jet. with the way it is now I manually have to fire on the lead, break lock, lock up no. 2 and repeat for the third jet. I’m pretty sure this is broken unless the procedure has changed.
  4. Disable hyper threading and try it again. ED broke hyperthreading support (again) a few updates ago.

Admins, apologies if this is in the wrong section so please feel free to move it if you need to. _____________________ if you are running an RTX 3090 and on the latest Nvidia driver (580.97 as of August 16, 2025) and CANNOT get into safe mode, this might help you. problem: cannot get into safe mode what is happening: - In windows 11. - press start > select power icon to restart > hover mouse over restart > hold down left-shift and click restart to bring up troubleshooting window - trouble shooting window comes up, no problem so far. - Select Troubleshoot > select Advanced Options > select Startup Settings > select Restart. No problem so far……. BUT! The system boots to a black screen and there is no blue screen that allows you to select option 4 or 5 to boot into safe mode. Here is how I fixed it. - pressed Enter > Rebooted back into windows 11 - Used “Direct Driver Uninstaller” to uninstall the latest Nvidia driver (580.97) - tried booting into safe mode again and this time it worked. I got into safe mode and used DDU again as a failsafe to remove every single trace of that POS driver. - Now back to windows 11 - installed driver version 576.52 - Tested again and I was able to boot into safe mode. fixed! Nvidia seems to have crapped the bed with their latest drivers. I don’t care what anyone says, to me it looks like they are so into trying to revive the 50 series cards that their latest drivers are absolute shiiite for 3090 users. anyways, hope this helps someone.
  6. For poops and giggles I tried the shader cache fix….. I’d don’t really help but at least I wasn’t getting insane stuttering in the game. for now I’m just going to leave hyperthreading disabled as that seems to be the only tried and true fix for all the symptoms described in this thread.
  7. Just confirmed HAGS has been off since I last disabled it a year ago but I guess windows re-enabled “Game mode” after a few updates. I just disabled it again. Might be re-enabled when I play steam games but I’ll test that later. For now it’s all disabled thanks for your help.

Just checked again and they remain unparked - I also delete my FXO and metashader folders from time to time - As well, main DCS folder along with my DCS saved game and Simapp Pro Folder are excluded.   9. If you have a 13th or 14th gen CPU or any CPU with 32 threaded cores or more, disabling hyperthreading will help as you will have lots of solid cores left to play with. For example, I used to run an i9-9900k and I never had to disable hyperthreading because it used 8 solid cores/16 threaded cores. So it didn’t make sense to disable it and I never had any load time issues or performance hits vs disabling the cores but that was due to the low *overall* core count. As an aside, I re-enabled HT and am getting super long load times so I’ll disable it for now. It’s so annoying that ED refuses to fix this. If they have the manpower to make clouds prettier they have the man power to fix the hyperthreading and memory leak issues. Don’t let anyone gas light you into thinking you need “more power” when really this is on ED to fix vs the community dumping more money into their rigs not knowing if it’s gonna fix anything.
  10. Foreword; Used both executables (bin and Bin MT folders). Tested in the Caucasus map, single player on a windows 11 rig. As of July 23rd, 2025 The latest update (DCS 2.9.18.12722) I did a little experiment as I Also experience significantly long load times. If you're running a 13900k or 14900k you'll find this interesting. - Two updates ago I got super long load times and stuttering in DCS... Disabled Hyper-threading in the BIOS, POOF! Problem solved, no issues and everything was butter smooth - Today, out of curiosity, I updated to the latest DCS, ENABLED hyper-threading in the BIOS and tried DCS again. Stuttering gone but Stupid long load times to the point where I get the windows blue circle thingy on the mouse and asked to close the program or wait. If I wait, DCS works but I have to wait a long time. Sooooo I - DISABLED hyper-threading again and checked... All back to smooth, regular short load times, no lagging, no stuttering. All good. BTW, Windows 11 is fully up to date but I think that fixed the stuttering but not the long load times and lagging. I don't know why this is hapenning but it seems to be the new norm for me. Hyperthreading on, games run like crap. Hyperthreading off, games run smooth as butter with no issues. Has anyone noticed this as well?

  14. @Chacal_IX The latest BIOS didn’t fix the issue for me. What did fix the issue was DCS finally fixing the hyper-threading problem in a patch way back in December 2024 BUT; that said every update is a coin toss since DCS has a habit of fixing the stuff in the changelog and breaking other core functions. It happens with almost every update and sometimes it breaks hyperthread compatibility on 13/14th gen chips, sometimes it doesn’t. Either way if another update causes instability with your 13/14th gen CPU then just try disabling it as a first step vs going crazy trying to fix it. That’s basically what I do now and so far it has worked. Since December, all DCS updates have run smoothly with hyperthreading enabled but nothing is written in stone so we will see what happens. From this point on, it seems DCS may have fixed the 13/14th gen CPU nightmare on their end. Don’t forget to keep your BIOS firmware up to date. It’s the best way to ensure everything is running as it should and your CPU isn’t overvolted by default.
  15. If you're running a 14900k try disabling Multithread support in the BIOS. I finally did and DCS runs better than it ever has before. You still have 16 physical cores to play with so don't worry about it. With MT disabled in the BIOS DCS will not crash and believe me, I tried lol. Nothing I do will cause it to crash. All because I disabled Multithread support in the BIOS
  16. Hey try this trick. It’s an oldie but it may help. your ram sticks are all numbered in order as per the PHYSICAL stickers on each of the ram sticks. When you look at the stickers you’re going to see a bunch of numbers and letters. Don’t worry about that. Just look for similarities where the numbers hint that one stick is the first and the second stick is the second. If you buy a two stick kit you’re going to see this easily. Same goes for buying a 4 stick kit. Now, if you’re like me and bought 2 sticks and then later you bought another 2 stick kit of the exact same make and model memory then you need to arrange them properly. The first set needs to go into your primary dimm slots in order (first stick goes in the primary slot and second in the secondary). Then you will want to place your second kit in the same order but in the third and fourth fill slot respectively. As long as install the sticks in their proper order according the info on the stickers it will help. How much it helps depends on your system. Everyone’s results will vary but either way it’s gonna be better than just installing them willy nilly and hoping for the best.
  17. That’s a good article and I agree, this chip sucks for stability. I hate it but I’m stuck with it. I don’t know how so many people are buying 2 or three chips and testing. I guess they have the cash? But seriously, to put that article into perspective it was released on Nov 11 with the title: - “After only one year of use, my Intel Core i9-14900K has deteriorated to the point that it's unusable” So like many who bought this chip in Nov 2023, they were under the Intel-fed false impression that the 14gen chips could take the heat of overclocking so he probably overclocked like crazy trying different methods which degraded the chip pretty fast considering there was no microcode controlling the voltage spikes and proportionately matching power to performance. In other words, Intel was allowing even mild overclocking to get 1.3+ volts and spiking at 1.55 and beyond (this is November 2023 we are talking about, not today) I got mine in Feb 2024 knowing full well that the first thing I had to do was undervolt it. Honestly, I probably ran this thing at 1.4-1.5 volts once or twice during initial testing but by Feb 2024 there was already a lot of usefull info by other overclockers on how to get the voltages between 1.2 and 1.3 which is the range I’ve suck with once I learned how to OC properly. That said, the jury is still out on if I have degraded this chip towards a fast downward spiral as it seems that once you have defeated these chips past a certain point you can hardly hold a good clock speed and need to keep volting UP to maintain it this killing off the chip even more. I could be wrong but in my research that seems to be what is hapenning. if my chip dies in a year I can still claim it on warranty. No big deal. Had the 9800X3D been available back in February I would have certainly gone with that setup knowing what I know now. Right now I’m running everything at 5.4 @1.2 volts under load with no voltage spikes. That’s pretty damned good! Windows is running like a champ with hyperthreading disabled and like I said; With 16 cores left to play with I’m really not seeing or feeling a drop in performance.
  18. I had to disable hyperthreading for my 14900k and it solved literally every crash I’ve had. It knocked me down to 16 physical cores so it’s not too bad. I can’t even tell the difference in performance and I have actually been TRYING to trigger a crash. All mods work. Spamming the F2 map only caused a crash on MP but that’s because i was forcing the video card to create and recreate images faster than i was hitting F2 which it could not do, hence the crash. That’s it. Play the game normally and I don’t have a single issue.
  19. Last week I disabled Hyperthreading in the BIOS and POOF! No more problems. Try it and see if that helps. You can re-enable them at any time so just do it as a test. If you have no issues at least you have this as a temporary fix until DCS gets their $hit together. I re-enabled it to test (no issues since lat update) but I might just keep it off as it still leaves me with 16 good cores and I'm not constantly apologizing to my friends for crashing in the middle of a mission lol. I don't trust DCS's multi thread support. It's getting better but it is not where it needs to be.

  21. Reading through this discussion. Here is what I would do if I were you. I would go back to the barebones basics. NO RIVA TUNER, NO MSI AFTERBURNER, NO KAPERSKY, NO OVGME OR MOD MANAGING SOFTWARE. To get rid of these programs 100% you will need to remove them using Revouninstaller. Its removes all traces of a program done to the registry. I use it all the time. Uninstall all of those apps and use Revouninstaller to uninstall DCS. Make sure to back up your HOTAS bindings, missions and liveries before uninstalling. restart windows and then shut down and start it up again to wipe everything out (overkill but at least this way you know you’re reset). Try another game and see how it runs. If everything looks good and runs as it should reinstall DCS but ONLY DCS and ONE JET, just one module. NOTHING ELSE! No maps, no mods, NOTHING. Set your system settings to get the graphics the way you want and then shut down DCS and to be safe, restart the computer (overkill but I would do it to guarantee the settings take full effect and the jet you installed is solidly installed). if you have no issues and can fly a mission, land and exit the game back into windows good for you. You have established a baseline. Now one by one, over the next few days, add a jet or map; JUST ONE AT A TIME! Restart and then test. If it goes well add another module or map. Try a mod and see how that goes but do it ONE AT A TIME. The goal is to test add, test, add, test, add. All that to isolate what is causing the issue. Lastly, DO NOT INSTALL SUPER CARRIER! We already know it’s causing issues so leave that for last. Doing it this way will isolate the cause and get you on the right path vs trying a bunch of stuff at the same time and not knowing what’s causing the problem. I have MSI afterburner and turn it off as well as HWINFO64 before playing DCS. Good luck.
  22. According to your log, your cores are parked. Try unparking your cores and see how that impacts you. You’ll need to Google how to do this. Very easy
  23. To anyone running a Z790 board with a 14900k and cannot get DCS to run stable. As a last ditch effort, try disabling hyperthreading and see if that solves it. I finally did it after a month of troubleshooting and despite trying to trigger a CTD or a BSOD, DCS will NOT crash. It’s super stable so far. Looking forward to finally getting to max out my system settings and using mods again in DCS to make it look as good as it should given the components I’m now using. Quite honestly I have not noticed a drop in performance across all Windows 11 apps and programs. I’m also still running 16 cores with HT disabled so not missing hyperthreading at all.
  24. Just a little update since I can relate to all these crashes as all my crashes were similar. BSOD due to memory issues according to windows 11 on a 14900k. I was also getting the same “soft” CTDs which freeze the game for a few seconds and then it all disappears and you’re back at the desktop as if you had pressed ESC and clicked on “quit to desktop”. So far the only solid solution I have found is to disable hyperthreading which may not be practical for you since you’re running an i7 but I will add that with hyperthreading disabled I COULD NOT trigger a CTD or BSOD no matter what I tried in the game. I even maxed out all my settings and yeah the FPS dropped by a lot but the mission kept chugging along. It seems that whatever DCS did in the patch in September to “improve multithreading support” they completely ruined with the update in mid October. For me running on an i9 14900k with 128Gb RAM and an RTX3090 on a Z790 board, the update released on October 2nd fixed my game and I wasn’t getting any CTDs or BSODs. On top of that I didn’t have to use Process Lasso to restrict threading nor did I have to set affinity or priority. That October 2nd update was THE BEST update DCS has released in a long time and then they F-ed it up again with the next patch. Very frustrating and quite honestly a motivation killer. Have a look at my other posts as I have been troubleshooting and researching the hell out of these problems. Even with hyperthreading disabled I’m running 16 cores so DCS is smooth as butter. Not holding my breath but I hope DCS goes back to fixing the enhanced threading support they say they released with the October 2nd patch and messed up with the ones that followed.
