OpenXR Guide - Deprecated - This time for real (▀̿Ĺ̯▀̿ ̿)

Great, thanks.. I just took a look at the ini file and saw the G2 section that was disabled. I am going to enable it and try again. I'll report back. -
OpenXR Guide - Deprecated - This time for real (▀̿Ĺ̯▀̿ ̿)
Astronut replied to nikoel's topic in Virtual Reality
This is giving me some of the smoothest VR flying ever.. The only issue I am having is a problem with some kind of masking on the left eye. It only occurs when in the flying environment (the main menus seem just fine).. I have attached a screen shot from the display mirror. It is obviously a bit distorted but the masking is quite obvious. Has anyone else experienced this? It isn't a cross-eyed image.. -

You are far too focused on resolution. The resolution is very usable right now.. it's just not as pretty as you would like it to be.. There is a lot more to a good VR experience than simply increasing the resolution.

Do you have any real world flying experience Webweaver40? It is interesting to see what is an immersion killer for one person over another. For me, a 2D screen is a complete immersion killer. Especially true when it comes to DCS. For some, they can't get past the resolution not being 4K. For others it is SDE. Some people even complained that you have to physically look around your chair to check six.

VR Shaders mod for better VR experience
Astronut replied to Kegetys's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I can confirm that this works! I just copied the original glass.hlsl file back into the functions folder. Thanks for that Brixmis. This mod is pretty amazing! Thanks Kegetys! -
Wasn’t there some king of patent issue that effectively killed FFB joysticks? It’s a pity because I loved my MS Sidewinder FFB Pro back in the late 90’s .

If you run the campaign in 2D do you have the cursor?
-
Yes, I read about it . I'm still skeptical. You should go ahead and give them your money though ;) .

There is a lot more to a good VR headset than higher resolution. The Rift isn’t out of date by any means. I hope I’m wrong, but I have a feeling that the Pimax isn’t going to be the Gen2 headset that people are hoping for. I certainly WANT higher resolution and a wider FOV, but I also want excellent, smooth tracking and a comfortable, lightweight headset (which the Rift certainly provides). On top of that, I also want native support in the games/sims I want to play (ie I don’t want to have to fudge things to make it work). Side by side, I much prefer native Oculus support than having to run though Steam VR, which to me seems clunky in comparison. System requirements also need to be realistic.

I have seen this problem before, some time ago. I forget how I fixed it though. Here you go.. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=2841130

It's not a waste of dev resources, and simply disabling VR is not what was asked for. For mission planning, editing, briefing etc, you are always going to be better off with a 2D screen. VR comes into it's own once you get into the cockpit.

Ha, well it's not your fault I didn't get the joke. I can be a little slow sometimes  .

Give it a little more time. It is a far more realistic experience than flying on a 2D monitor. Some things will be harder than they were before, but other things are much more realistic.

Seriously? How can you NOT be impressed by the Rift? Serious question, have you actually used one (with DCS) ? To my mind, with about 35 years of simming under my belt, the Rift is the single biggest stride forward in realism I have seen. Other notables were the 3D accelerated graphics card and Track-IR.

It's a tool that helps with one of the main deficiencies of the current gen headsets. Nothing is perfect and there will always be a certain degree of compromise. It is still more realistic than a fixed snap view.
-
That won't work (and it would make you pretty nauseous to be honest). The tracking is 1:1 so the image will be pretty steady. You can use the VR Zoom feature though. edit> I posted at the same time as MX ;) . In all honesty, snap views are a relic of pre-VR simming. You will learn to adapt, and also, remember that a real pilot doesn't have a rock solid snap view. Believe me, you are going to be blown away when you fly DCS in VR for the first time.

Mine arrived pretty fast using Dimex. It was delivered by UPS. It took less than 7 business days to reach me in Texas.

Deleting the export.lua from my savedgames folder did the trick! I just took the Huey up for a quick spin in VR.. my initial impression is WOW! What a difference it makes to the experience! Thanks Sydy and Andre!

My Jetseat arrived today! Andre, I can test the motors and run the massage routine in the SimShaker software, but for some reason I am not getting anything when I use DCS. I have FFB selected on. I only need the USB connection for DCS right?

How much better is Rift than Vive for DCS World?
Astronut replied to captainkoloth's topic in Virtual Reality
My understanding is that Asynchronous Reprojection is roughly comparable to ATW. This does make a huge difference. Asynchronous Space Warp takes things even further. To my knowledge there is nothing comparable available yet for the Vive. -
Order placed for the 908AM! I'm looking forward to flying with it. Thanks for all your help Andre.
