DCS World 2.5.x Caucasus Terrain Textures
ron533 replied to Mustang's topic in Texture/Map Mods for DCS World
Thank you Mustang for your great work and the time you invest here!! One question though... Can you please post some side by side pictures? (at least for the newer versions, if its not too much trouble...) to point out the subtle, and not so subtle enhancements... It's not always very clear, for me at least, the depth of the improvements you make  Thank You!! -

[MOD] DCS Kneeboard Position by uboats
ron533 replied to uboats's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Thanks for the mod!! Is it possible to run via SaveGames ? I get IC fail when trying to run inside DCS folder... Thanks! -
Just Updating here, to whom it may concern.... Well, I've found the free alternative to reduce file sized even further without using OGGResizer, the Audacity itself, sitting right under my nose..... There's an option to reduce the Bitrate on the bottom left corner. The Minimum Bitrate you can select is 8000Hz. I've found that Below 16000Hz the audio quality really deteriorates. You can also change from Stereo to Mono as previously stated in this thread. The file size does get smaller, though I could not match it OGGresizer performance... I wonder what they have used there. Thanks, and add more info if you have it. EDIT: Using this online converter gave me best results : https://www.online-convert.com/ Ron

Running audio in missions from external sources possible??
ron533 replied to ron533's topic in Mission Editor
Well...too bad.... Thanks for your reply! I hope there is a way, and if not - that ED will take a look at this option. Cheers -
Hi, (I'm new to mission building and have no knowledge in coding/scripts...) Is it possible to implement by script or other way a reference to a web page , and run audio files from there?? I want to build missions with music running in the background, like long Air refuel training missions I made, and since I don't want it to be too repetitive - I need to use large audio files which are big for the average mission. I was thinking about even streaming the music from a web site, like TuneIn Radio for example... (activating it via trigger) This way I can fly listening to live web radio stations, or link the script to a web server which holds many audio files and and thus keep the mission file small, yet add external connectivity to large audio files/streams. Thanks.

Thanks so much for your help, but I am looking to do it on my own here and there when need arises, so I can't bother good people like you for that... For now I'm good after installing it on a new PC and using the 7 days trial period, but there's a limit to new PC's I can find for that.... :) The "trick" of OGGresizer is reducing the bit rate lower than Audacity does, as low as 32 kbits, and quality is of course reduced but hardly noticed as a background music while flying... I wonder if you can tweak Audacity's bit rate in OGG to that level, since the minimum quality slider there is at 1, but size is too big...

No new suggestions??

Simultaneous Multi-Projection - Does ED intend to implement this?
ron533 replied to DerekSpeare's topic in Virtual Reality
+1 Very much interested to see this, or any other support for multiple monitors, as well as VR, implemented, fixing the twisted stretched view on side screens. Tracking. -
Tried that. I took the file I made in Audacity , it was 4.56MB stereo ogg, compressed further it via OggResizer (while in trial) it went down to 2.7MB still stereo, Took the same 4.56MB file and sampled it in audacity to mono - went out as 3.26MB... I just wanted to reduce the volume level in the compressed OGG file (2.7MB), and via audacity it just blew up again to 4.2 MB....... I wonder if there's any free service as good as that, since I hardly use it to justify spending money on it... ( I have to save for F-18/Persian Gulf/F-14...etc... :music_whistling: ) Thanks for the helpers... still need you... :)

Hi, I've been adding some music, in OGG format, to my missions but it makes them too big... I've tried Audacity in minimum quality but it is still too big. I've found a software called OGGresizer https://www.skyshape.com/oggresizer-vorbis-compressor.html) which compressed the ogg files much better than audacity, but it's a not freeware. What are you using to minimize the audio/music files you create? Thanks

SWFF2 trims way forward in A10C - default settings?
ron533 replied to ron533's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
If you mean "swap axis" option, then yes, I have checked it. as I understand, the Sidewinder FF stick needs that option. -
Hi, I'm using SW Force Feedback 2 joystick for DCS, and recently upgraded it, with a helping friend, and changed its grip to CH fighter stick, a wonder stick combo now i :).... Anyway, I've noticed while starting a test mission I made , that starting on the runway with the A10C , the stick jumps almost 2/3 of its travel forward. it can be seen also in the controls indicator, as if it was trimmed to pitch down by default. It does not happen on other planes I have, their stick are all centered on start, and I haven't noticed it before the upgrade on the A10C... Maybe the size of the CH grip compared to the original grip made it out stand so much, but it looks odd. Can anyone else with a Force Feedback stick verify it on their system please? Is it suppose to be like that, or is it a bug? Thanks!

Import progress into 2.5 ?
ron533 posted a topic in A-10C The Enemy Within Campaign (legacy version)
Hi, I want to import my campaign progress into 2.5 and continue from there, I've seen in the forums advice to copy the old logbook file from saved games into 2.5, I did that and I can see all the flight time I had, but campaign is still inactive. Is there a way to import it please? Thanks!! -
I understand. Well... thanks for the clarification :) What is the cost on FPS to run Ikarus??
-
Thanks Deezle, I would rather not use a 3rd party for it, though I will take a look at it, but want to use the module export options as much as possible. Still couldn't find any for the Huey. Would appreciate further info...
-
Hi, I'm looking how to export some of the instruments of the Huey to another monitor, I've tried but failed to do it myself, as I've before to the M2000C . Please refer me to export files already done - if it exists, or how to make one myself. Thanks!!

SPONGE MOD INFO ?? Excuse me for bringing this up from the dead...;) :helpsmilie: Can you please share any pictures and description of this "Sponge Mod", since the link is not available ?? how to place it? type of material? how much sponge?.... Would really like to try this out... Thanks!! -
Great job on this!! Thank you!! * I've noticed some noticeable stuttering while 3-4 aircraft were trying to land, in the pattern, and were aborting approach and re-arranging for land again. it took several tries for them to get in sequence and land, and many stutters happened then. maybe it's dcs thing... (DCS 1.5). * After landing, taxing to parking, some airplanes, the big ones mainly, park the front gear out in the grass, and many times collide with other planes or structures in the base. Also a question about the models - are there no animations for those models except landing gear? like spoilers/flaps i.e. that deploy at landing, and the rest of the flight controls? or is it W.I.P maybe? Thanks again!!
