  1. I wouldn't mind if the current JTAC got ported over to the Red side as a stop-gap, but I suspect this would require coding only ED can provide, and they'd never do something so unrealistic. I wonder, though, if it's not more unrealistic to have no communication with the ground. Maybe we'll see proper FAC modeled (or something similar to it) when CA is finished. One can only hope... There's also showing off their use as well. Evidently #25, the Ka-50 that DCS Black Shark is modeled after, was used in the deployment. It would certainly help immensely with finding targets. It'd be even cooler if an AI Ka-52 was added to fill the role as well. :D They were doing so in Chechnya for Su-25's. It would be rather cool if the Ka-50 could lase targets for Su-25T's flying above.
  2. The mod file download for this is far too large. I ripped out the two texture files you changed (ao-2_5rt.tga and ptab-25-paint.bmp), put them in my TempTexture directory and it worked fine. You may want to update your mod thusly, as it would drastically reduce the mod file size.
  3. I don't see how. It's not like Ubisoft can copywrite real-world map locations.
  4. For the F-111B? Sure. As an example of one airframe for two services that want different kinds of aircraft? Sure. As an overall bad aircraft? No. For ground attack, it's a fine aircraft. Ask the Australians.
  5. I'm converting a few custom textures for your model to FC3 standards, and I noticed you don't have a liveries entry for changing the numbers texture, Killermachine_number. Is it possible to specify a custom number texture without a modification of the model, e.g. simply add a new line to the description.lua file that points to the material using that texture?
  6. First, I did several searches of this forum and found nothing on this, which is surprising. With DCS A-10C, the power of JTAC was brought into focus, and CA expanded this even further. Unfortunately, the Reds have been left in the cold. It would be great if some FAC could be made available for Russia, and would make finding targets in the Ka-50 much easier. In particular, I'd love to see the Ka-29 added in its air command/target designation role, performing the same role it did in Chechnya. Let us make use of the R-828! While I am aware of the JTAC for Ka-50 mod, this doesn't cover the OPFOR side.

  10. I don't know how some of these choices could ever get a high fidelity flight model and avionics. Stuff like the Su-35S and MiG-35 are so new that there's really no way of getting access to their systems, and the PAK FA isn't even finished. That being said, I would like some kind of multirole Russian aircraft. Perhaps the Su-27SM would be more realistic?

  12. I'm trying to figure out how to make use of the "CHANGE KEY" option in the CFG management when creating a mod. What does it do, and how do you use it? I'm hoping I can use it to comment out a line in the graphics.cfg file while uncommenting another line.

  15. Hopefully this is the right forum for this question. I recently downloaded the Who Am I A-10C skin, and modified it to work in DCS World in a non-replacement manner. To this end, I renamed all the files and converted them to .dds format. I've tried several things to try and fix this, from making the file names .bmp.dds and adding ".bmp" to the filename described in the lua to straight-up using bmp textures. None of it seems to get rid of that orange color. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

    I think they're under NDA not to talk about it, but I imagine it'll be something like either an AI controls the other seat, or you can jump between the two seats. I'd really love to see the ability for another human player to take the role of the second seat, though.

    What level of fidelity are you going for? Full avionics (insofar as you can with unclassified information) and clickable cockpit?

  21. I call check-in, but the JTAC guys never respond. I've double-checked, and I am using the correct R-828 channel. What else do I need to make sure it set up besides the radio equipment?

    That's cool. I'd hate for the community to be split along the lines of who does/doesn't have a certain expansion. I don't suppose you know how DCS World would disperse the AI/non-flyable aircraft for addons, would you?
