  1. Do not align VV to the notch. Do not spot the deck. Just fly the ball and monitor AoA, and keep aligned with peripheral vision. If you spot the crotch/notch/deck you will chase the deck and be off glide slope. Believe in the ball.
  2. The mission feels much better now. Great improvement with allowing to chose the difficulty. At least now it doesn't feel like the 10 MANPADs are waiting for you. :) I still had 1 or 2 lobbed at me, fortunately defended successfully. Wingie ate one unfortunately.
  3. Okay, so it's not just me. I'm in SA, and usually expect around 160-190 for EU and about 200-220 for US. Maybe there's a problem with peering between US and EU. Will require more testing.
  4. My 2 cents... If you are interested primarily in A-A, don't get the Hornet - yet. Give it a bit of time to get more radar additions and IFF. (Amraam is not that important, the Sparrow will do fine.) For now, look at the either the Mirage 2000C, or the F-5. That gives you high fidelity and both AC are excellent in the A-A regime. (Especially the F-5, when flown well will surprise a lot of people.) In the end what matters is get what you like. If you like the Flankers, get a Flanker. If you like the Mirage, get the Mirage. If you like the F-15... you get the idea. You can always at a later stage get the next module on your list.
  5. You beautiful bastard!
  6. I had some holes as well, was clipped by a ZU-23, but managed to bring it home.
  7. Thought I'd give you some feedback. Played the mission. Got my teeth kicked in by a MANPAD. Then completed it succesfully. The only complaint is one out of your control and that is the AI Wingman. Enjoyed the mission. 5/7.
  8. CASE I - Day, good weather and visibility CASE II - Day, reduced visibility CASE III - Night and/or poor visibility/sea state
  9. After BRRRRRRTTT I don't mind the little brrrrrtt at all. :P
  10. The current navigation suite is more than adequate. Is waiting for INS alignment and entering WP's too much work? There's ADI and TACAN too. The only platforms with better navigation suites than that is the A-10C, KA-50 and probably the AV-8. FCS needs work too. The handling with full flaps is nonsense and that is likely a priority, if not the highest priority as they've stated. With practise, you can learn to land without risk. However no amounts of practise will help you against people that don't get on comms or don't follow ROE. Of the combat avionic systems that are the most crucial to implement, TWS and IFF is most critical. IFF isn't merely to make your life easier in engagement, but PROTECT you from other players. TWS and IFF is not just for AA.
  11. People who follow ROE aren't the ones having problems with Blue on Blue. They are the victims E.g. I've not fired on a blue yet. I declare or vid. It's all the special kids that jump onto multiplayer games, but don't bother comms that are the problem.
  12. Funny guy. Objectively, no other upcoming system in the F/A-18 is more important and more needed than TWS and IFF. The Hornets are seriously lacking in SA, which TWS resolves and even more importantly than TWS is IFF, which will get rid of non stop buddy spikes and fratricide. If you think I'm wrong, make a poll. I stand by my previous statement. Find me someone that disagrees.
  13. We can skin the Kfir to look like an Atas Cheetah too. That would be pretty dope.
  14. Maybe, but I don't care for the targeting pod. That's what the Hog is for. I want, in this order: TWS/IFF HARM/HTS Nothing is more important than TWS and IFF, tbqfh.
  15. So there's a couple things and we will assume you start with a hot plane: 1. By default, your right MFD will be on the FCS page. Check the status of your control surfaces, to see if you are set up for take off. Your rudders should be at 30 and stabs at 12. If this is so, you should be set. 2. Make sure your flaps is set to half. NOT AUTO. If your flaps are set to half, and you are correctly trimmed for take off, your fcs should retrim your bird once you raise the gear and flaps to auto at take off. If your flaps wasn't set to half from the start, set them to half then press the FCS reset button and take of trim button to set your stabs to 12. (I think it's the V key.) 3. If you take off and you find your bird is fighting you to pitch up, check your flaps first, and set them to auto. Then hit fcs reset and she should calm right down.
  16. Yup using the correct comms switch. Did a lot of troubleshooting, double checked the freqs, bade sure the correct radio is being used in the menu.
  17. I'm experiencing the exact same problem. Easy comms are off. The kicker is, sometimes ATC responds only to a particular band. I.e. I set VHF AM to 131.00, UHF to 260.00 and VHF FM to 40.400, the I might get them responding on, let's say, UHF. Then I restart the mission then they will only respond on VHF FM. The problem is not just ATC. If I sit on the ground with the Hog running and radios on, and tune to AWACS, I can see the text messages from AWACS in the top left, but not hear them on comms.
  18. Another 2 seater perhaps? From Grumman, perhaps?
  19. I am also quite keen on joining, but feel quite lost with which squads would be best suited. I am mainly looking for a relaxed, fun environment where I can learn. Been in BS solid for about 2 months, spending my time mainly offline and every now and again on the 104th's server. My main problem is my location: I am in South Africa, so network lat is always 280-350 ms for me, for EU servers.
  20. I would say avoid game mode, especially game flight model. The quicker you practice with the real FM, the quicker it will become second nature. Pretty soon you will be hitting the trimmer on your stick while flying the A-10C, the 747 in FSX and frustratingly try looking for it in your car, when making a turn. :P
  21. I too, after some head scratching, had a look at the unit skills and I saw that too. :) It is definitely difficult and does make one sweat, but I think my trouble is, again, purely caused by stupid wingmen AI. If I can get both to reliably engage, this mission should be no problem. :) Sigh... Wingman Y U NO ATTACK GEORGIANS?!
  22. I have attempted the new mission, for the the hold out defense after the air base is captured. I find it much more difficult to pass than it's previous incantations. I like how the convoys split up, it adds a bit dynamic, but it appears that there are now double the amount of enemy units to defend against. The entrenched Russian units get slaughtered by the first wave of Georgian units and the best I have been able manage thus far, was to have 2 Georgian BMP's left with 1 Russion MBT - which simply dies instantly when the Georgian BMP's are in range. I am unsure if the extra wingman helps. I am yet to get both to engage the enemy. Thus far, only 3 will engage, but 2 will refuse every engagement order, regardless if it is datalinked, ground mover's my target, etc. The issue with the first version was simply: Not enough missiles or time to rearm vs targets. I am not versed in the building of missions at all, so have not had a look at the mission in the ME, but it may be helpful to bump Russian ground unit skill significantly and drop the Georgian's skill as well. En entrenched force should not overwhelm so easily, when they have CAS and are holding a bridgehead.
  23. Sweet! Downloading now. :)
  24. Hi Igormk, I had much the same on the Airport capture mission:
