You're awesome, anybody tell you that yet? -

Will server hosts be able to "ban" JESTER in MP?

That actually sounds interesting. I was thinking about this after the finals, what would happen with next year's. Would there be, like you said, 6 slots for 3 Tomcats. And If so, what would the weapon restrictions be? If it's only 3 Tomcats, will it be allowed to have 4 or more AIM-54's? If they allow you to fly solo, i.e. have 6 Tomcats will that then restrict the AIM-54's to 2 or less? If there has to be 2 human slots, would we see team comps where people will go 5v6? I.e. 4x F-15's/Su-27's and 1x 2 person crewed Tomcat? What about DL? If a team has F-14's, will E-2D's be provided that they could benefit from DL? There's of course the Hornet too. If it has advanced to the point of having fully working JHMCS, TWS and Link16... (If it gets there.) Next year is going to be interesting. -

It is an utterly horrible idea. The plane can't work without a RIO. So that means no RIO, no Tomcats. If that's such a problem, then simply do not include them as available aircraft to fly in your server/mission/tournament. My jab, that people will complain about Jester, even if it was a guns kill was sarcastic. People will complain, even if Jester wasn't a factor. When their Flankers get out turned by the F-14, they will blame the AIM-54. Folks are losing their minds over this, just as they did with the Viggen auto generated cartridges, that does nothing other than say: "At these coordinates there is stuff to blow up." It doesn't give anymore details than that. You know nothing of the ingress route, nor egress. It picks the closest 5 grouped units, which is very often not even a viable target. It does nothing else other than make a Viggen pilot's life a tiny bit better. As if there will suddenly be 20 Viggens taking off on BF and wiping the other team off the map. Making it possible to block Jester being used, is simply something that shouldn't even be available. -

This has to one of the single dumbest things people are asking for. Once the Tomcat releases, I bet we will see people bitch about Jester, when they get killed by an F-14 in a gun fight. If you're hosting a tournament, you can explicitly tell people what they may or may not do. E.g. In SATAL you're only allowed 4 Fox 3's and no 120C's. It's not a server side setting. It's simply, if you break that rule, you're disqualified. You can do the same. "Tomcat tourney, bring your own RIO or you can't partake." It is that easy. -
Red Flag Red October - F/A-18C vs Mig-29S
umkhunto replied to 104th_Maverick's topic in Tournaments & Events
Highlight of the event undoubtedly must have been Mjugen's 31nmi AIM-120B kill. Also, why did the Hornets take two weeks to get in the air? -
Don't quite get this; why are so many people, so butt hurt over Jester? Or is this just going to be the status quo, people getting butt hurt when a Tomcat kills them with guns, then screech: "REEEEEEE BAN JESTER IN MP!!one111eleven" Personally, I don't care, I just want the Flogger. My body is ready to get shot down by better planes. I'll still fly it.

Because you should fly the F-15, if you want to do CAP. It's that simple. If you don't have the F-15, don't fly CAP. Go do strikes and use your AA weapons defensively, or opportunistically. I bet if you fly the Hornet, like a high tech F-5E, you will start seeing impressive results. Be low, be fast, and shoot people point blank, much like an F-5E, only with much more weapons. HARM finally offers a long range SEAD capability, that is sorely needed. That is why people voted overwhelmingly for HARM.

I hope it's not too resistant. The cobra is the perfect moment to score a guns kill on a MiG or Su driver that's trying to pick up girls.

About Messed Joystick Profiles (DCS v2.5.3.22652)
umkhunto replied to Devrim's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Unfortunately this has killed the Ka-50 for me. Several of my ED modules had straight up broken controls. As in they are red and cannot be bound. With my other ED modules I trashed all the crap ED put in the directories and that fixed all except the Ka-50. And the broken options are the unimportant ones... Like: FIRE CANNON FIRE WEAPON TRIMMER TO NAME A GOD DAMNED FEW!!! 10 bucks says they're going to push this as is to stable. Where will their "hurr durr but muh open beta bruh" excuse be then? -
is there a way to disable the landing-by-throttle thing?
umkhunto replied to Larkis's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Couldn't have said it better myself. -
Hope they fix the bloody laser in DCS itself, too.

OH! That would be pretty cool. So what you're thinking about is you flip through the kneedboard where you find the autogen cartridges. Pick the one you want to fly, then... pull the cartridge? Then import it to CombatFlite, have a peek at the plan, then flip back to DCS start the engine and go drop the hammer? Is that your thought process? Would that allow us to remain in the jet, and tab out of DCS to checkout the plan in CombatFlite? If so, that would be pretty cool. It would be a massive quality of life change for me, and I think others, flying the Viggen in MP, and if you combine that with Elint data... Would be pretty ninja.

It's weird though... After teaching myself the powered approach, landing the Hornet, I am now landing all my planes like that. It doesn't matter if it's the Su-27, the A-10C, the Viggen, etc. In every single one, I now land the exact same way. I trim until I'm on the correct AoA, then I use power to maintain my glideslope, then gently set them down on the runway when I cross the threshold. The only difference between landing other planes and the Hornet on the carrier, is I cut throttle when crossing the threshold, instead of going mil when landing on the carrier. It just comes naturally to me now. -
That would be awesome. I would just like to see my route. It would help a lot with SA.

I just wanted to say of late I've been playing more with the generated cartridges, specifically on Georgia at War, and have been enjoying myself a lot. Been running in on some of the pre generated target groups and having more and more success. (If I don't run into trees on my way in because I wasn't minding my surroundings.) Had some good moments such as this, which was an awesome target, that had me sweating the last 10km of the ingress: M71 strike on S-300 site You are limited a bit if you don't plan the mission yourself. It's very difficult to use BK-90's with the auto cartridges, mainly because you don't really do a nav fix en route when using the auto mission plan. I've found in almost every case, the target point to not be over the target area, due to INS drift, most probably. That is my only complaint. It's great to see where this work has come thus far, and I am really enjoying it picking a target, starting up and taking it out. (It would rather be very nice if there was a kneeboard page that would update with the route, so we can have better SA. In the case of Georgia at War, I am fortunately familiar with the AO.) Great work, keep it up!

Who cares? I pointed out 2 rather big problems that are game breaking, and this is a game, after all. It needs to be fixed. The wandering Shkval isn't an isolated thing. When the Ka-50 was released, it happened sometimes. Now I experience it every single sortie, and I would bet as does all other Ka-50 owners. The Shkval not locking onto a target is manageable, since it should be ground stabilised. However, when the Shkval for no understandable reason, flips to 0.1m range and starts slewing randomly in a direction, faster than you can control it, then it is unmanageable and clearly broken.
-
Frankly, I just want the Shkval fixed. The "wandering shkval" now happens more than it doesn't, locking clearly contrasting objects is becoming more of a problem, which GREATLY limits your effectiveness, by eliminating your mobility. I miss the days where I could be guaranteed a lock on a helo at 10km, as long as the sun was still shining. Now, you can barely maintain a lock on a vehicle, during midday at 4km.
-
Just like real life Hornet pilots, you should turn back to the carrier group, then the Tomcats will clear it out for you. You could also jettison your bomb load and either fight the red cap, or flee back to the carrier. Just sayin'...
-
Me too. :P PS. honhonhon?
-
No it's not. Effective Bluefor SEAD is more important. If you want to fly CAP, stop miss clicking the F-15 slot.

If you are dropping GBU-38's one at a time, you're doing it wrong.
