Controllers in DCS BS2 Messed Up
BigfootMSR replied to VAF [136] Striker's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Not to sound too over simplified, but I had a problem similar to this in A-10. I would be flying along and suddenly, a hard left roll that I could not overcome because the sim was keeping the hard left rudder and hard left on the stick. I cleared up the issue by making sure the arrow keys for the keyboard were unbound. Dunno if it helps in this case, but you could give it a try. -
Welcome to the Black Shark, You did not mention what version of Black Shark you are running. If you do not already have it, I would strongly recommend upgrading to BS2. BS1 is not supported anymore and BS2 will be integrated into DCS world. The missions that I created, see PeterP's link (he always beats me to these), will only work for BS2. Happy flying!

Hehe, Dragon, your missions are awesome. I was not sure if your mission actually covers entering the coordinates in to the CDU as I have not had the opportunity to try it out. If it does, awesome :)
-
Not to throw a wrench in things, but there is a mod called "slmod" that utilizes some .lua scripting to detect if a world object such as bridge was destroyed or not. I would not recomend getting into that bit until you have a pretty good understanding of the basic mission editor though.
-
You can also see my signature for a quick mission on how to input the 9line info into the CDU. Made quite some time ago. I have not tried =STP= Dragon's mission.

When I put through a ticket, it took them about 48 hours to respond. They said they had a lot of tickets at the time. But, I would not expect them to take 5 days...

KA-50 Black Shark 2 Training missions
BigfootMSR replied to BigfootMSR's topic in Missions and Campaigns
This will work with the upgrade version. Be sure to rename the DCS KA-50 folder. Dont put my training missions inside of the the KA-50 folder. Then when you click the training link on the main menu, it should work. -
KA-50 Black Shark 2 Training missions
BigfootMSR replied to BigfootMSR's topic in Missions and Campaigns
It sounds like you downloaded the mod that replaces the main menu training link with a link to my training missions instead. Try click on "Training" in your BS2 main menu. If that does not work, In the BS2 training folder, there may be a folder named "DCS KA-50". Renaming that folder to something different will allow the change to take place. This mod works for DCS BS2 standalone. I do not know if it works for DCS: World. The other thing you could do, is go through the .zip file and pull the .miz file out of each folder. Put them wherever you want on your drive. When you navigate to it under the mission browser it will launch that way too. -
LOL, Talk about information overload... But, yes, all these things will get you going really quickly. :)

Name: In-cockpit interactive training missions Author: BigfootMSR Mission type: Training Controllable: Ka-50 Quick Summary: - In cockpit training similar to the training in the A10c Warthog. These missions have highlighted switches and step by step interactive walk through covering start up and most of the major system of the KA 50 including weapon employment. These missions work in BS2 and DCS: World. Link/Download: http://files.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/173790/ Full brief/Discussion thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=84612 Author/Misc info: The mods folder contains ALL of the files in one spot. You can follow the instructions contained in the file for integration into your BS2 standalone training folder or pull out the missions. By doing so, you can replace the current in game training button on the main menu that displays videos and replace it with one that will show these missions instead.

Improved diferences on BS2 to BS1
BigfootMSR replied to Silver_Dragon's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
The textures are also much higher resolution and looks a LOT better. You can see a good list of the changes they made here http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=81117 Edit: Another thing to keep in mind, as the sim advances and new things are introduced or upgraded via DCS: World, BS1 will not be. BS2 and all aircraft will be integrated into DCS:world and no longer a standalone product. BS2 can be flown in the same mission as a person flying an A10, P51, or any other new air craft that will be coming soon. -
I finally got an answer to this question http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1474566&postcount=585 It confirms what I said before that at the moment, there is no way to fix this problem. Perhaps in the future, somebody might be able to create a new airport all together, that might be able to be plopped into the same footprint. Only time will tell at this point.
-
I have been asking around about that for a while now as I have been wanting to update those lights myself. I have not had a definitive answer come down. But, what I have heard, at the moment, its not possible to update them for the a10 bs2 modules as the SDK (developers tools) to update them are not released to the public at this time.
-
Thanks luckybob. More specifically, i am interested in updating the runway lights of kutaisi and other airports similiarly, from floating blue balls to the runway lights of batumi. Which set of tools could I do that with?
-
Does anybody know where I can get 3ds max 2008? Was looking online and cant seem to a good link for it. Another question, do these tools only work with lockon? Or can you do things like replace existing textures in a-10 and BS2? It would be nice if there was an at a glance option to see what game these mods work in.

As far as black shark 2 being a patch, its not. Its an upgrade that you have to purchase. You have two options, you can either purchase the Black Shark standalone version, or you can buy black shark 2 upgrade. The upgrade needs to have black shark 1 installed on your machine prior to installation. When you go to the downloads page, you must download all of the files, there are typically about 4 of them. Once they are downloaded, you need to put all of the files into a folder before running the .exe file. Something to keep in mind, DCS is releasing a new program called DCS world which is free. Currently, only the standalone version works in it. You can find DCS world under the P-51 module. Download all of the files that say "world." You do not need to download the p51 module. Then, you only need to install the Black Shark standalone specific module which is typically only about 200 megs. I will leave it at that so its not any more confusing. Any more questions, ask away.

Downloading KA50 Training (Bigfoot's)
BigfootMSR replied to blackpulpit's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
That is not entirely true. I do have one mod file that contains all of the training missions in one download. It actually replaces the training link on the main menu to show my missions vs the training videos. There is a readme file inside the mod file that explains where to put the files contained in the mod. These missions are not tracks by the way. They are full missions that you can launch like any other mission you download from the user files section. As far as the file structure, I am not sure where to place them. I have heard the structure is slightly different in DCS:world than the standalone. Unfortunately, I can not test this because I only have the upgrade version of BS2 that does not work in world at this time. I am downloading World right now so I can at least look at the files, though I wont be able to fly. I am curious to know if the missions work properly in world. Keep me informed. -
The missions I made are in cockpit interactive training missions for anybody who is wanting something similar to the training in a-10. As far as time goes, I can attest that it can take weeks of time to put together a single training mission. While an official training mission would be nice, I would rather see them spend money and time elsewhere at this point. They can always come back to it at a later date to really polish up the module.

Can't use the SAI dial during startup training
BigfootMSR replied to SackDestroyer's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Its a rotatable knob. Try rotating your mouse wheel while the cursor is above it. If that doesn't work, you can use keyboard commands (RShift + RAlt + A)Move knob to left (RShift + RCtl + A) move knob to right, and you can pull the knob out by using (RShift + A). Thanks for trying out my mission. -
This is probably a little off topic, but, I couldn't help but notice the ads at the top of the forum for a-10c, Black Shark and Lock on. When Black Shark 2 was released, you never updated the ad from Black Shark 1 to Black Shark 2 like you did with Flaming Cliffs 2. Not that its a big deal, but just throwing some attention at it.
-
Yes you can. I highly recommend it. Then you can check out the interactive training missions at http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=84612 for BS2.
-
Personally, I highly recommend upgrading to BS2. :P Not only so you can view and play the training missions, which can be integrated into the training menu, but the graphics, and many other aspects are much better. Welcome aboard though :)

Final mission is posted and menu integration mod has been released. I hope these have helped everybody learn the ins and outs of the KA-50.
