  1. Obviously Noumcea your unaware of how to manipulate the skins, so heres a quik guide: you can go two ways 1st place the skin folder directly into the game at this location: \DCS World\Bazar\Liveries\uh-1h - the draw back is that you will lose the skin in major game upgrades or when you have to unload it for any particular reason. 2nd - Me and most of my friends use GME: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=98607 Follow the link and set up as per instruction. There are some newer mods coming but i believe this one is most stable at present. This is great for all mods at the moment and you use this to load/unload them and with care you dont lose them. Here is a link https://www.dropbox.com/s/e0m3nejdra0utjt/Struts%20GME%20Skin%20Folders.7z?dl=0 to the Folder structure that you need to place the Skin into, just place the skin in its folder into the uh-1h folder inside this structure and just drop the whole folder into the left GME window. All will become apparent when you read and set up GME
  2. Very good find, thanks
  3. I use the full range of the axis with no curves, i have mine set on slider with about 80% saturation on the Y axis, and about a 4 dead zone. It seems pretty optimal for me at the moment .
  4. Hideki2 - i did try that method of using the Saitek throttle quadrant, but found that it was flimsy with lateral movement, also you need to find a good method of attaching a collective "lever" or "arm" , but it is a bit awkward to achieve, i sourced a piece of very light aluminum pipe from a scooter goose neck and that seemed to work, i didnt really like though, because its hard to achieve friction to keep the Collective in a postion you want to set it at. Anyway so i got hold of an old Saitek X52 throttle and converted that, and it is great. The "throw" is good and i can make very fine adjustments in flight and hold them, its great for the Huey and the MI-8 - To make the X52 throttle is very simple and you dont need to open the throttle of break anything, let me know and i can help you. Heres some pics: Heres a quick "soldiers 5" how to make it: get some "Two Pack Epoxy Putty" For the collective i used 40mm Polypipe (irrigation pipe) Two Flat headed bolts - long enough to pass through the poly pipe and embed into the saitex X52 handle. After epoxy has set attach the poly pipe and your ready to fly. One thing to remember is the X52 works better when reversed when used as a collective, also i have mine with the base sitting on an angle of aprox 20 degrees, as in the picture second from the top.
  5. Nice job Jacob, can you also make some Jungle ? but no Tigers, i hate Tigers.......
  6. @Cich - this was tongue in cheek mate, was only humour...........:D
  7. Well theres a thought, a "DCS Flight Sim Hardware Outlet"...........:noexpression: They could maybe name it, "Leading EDGE"......"On the Edge"......."the Razors Edge"......"The Edge of Insanity"....................
  8. Thanks Wedge !
  9. Nice skin JST, thanks for all your great skins for the Dora, thanks mate.
  10. Im lovin this thread, i had a Commodore 64 and this exact sim, it was so intriguing at the time, that i just dont get it looking back from now. Heres a vid from someone that had the very same game, i think it took 20 minutes to load from a cardboard floppy disk or that might have been a cartridge.....
  11. This is a version of the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), 35 Squadron Huey No 295 prior to being handed over to the Australian Army Aviation Regiment. The skin was originally done by Aussieboy, i have placed the "Red Rat" on the tail and given the pilot and Co-pilot 35sqn and RAAF badges. Download from here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/nmlxplyzfch3i3r/RAAF%20HUEY%20A2-295%2035%20Sqn%20as%20at%2026%20oct%2014.7z?dl=0

  15. Aussie Sabre Skins remake / redo / repair The Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) flew the CAC Sabre Mk 32 "Avon Sabre" produced by the The Commonwealth Aviation Corporation (CAC). Australia never flew the North American Aviation F-86 that DCS has in the sim, at present. The most obvious physical difference between the NAA Sabre and the CAC Sabre Mk 32 is the Two 30mm ADEN cannon as opposed to the six .50 Cal and the bigger more powerful Rolls Royce jet engine. I have ( with a little bit of license) remade my original Sabre skins for the latest DCS World stable version, the Black Panther 76 Sqn RAAF, and the two Black Diamonds 75 Sqn RAAF skins are as authentic as i can get them, however the drop tanks are not chequered but striped - the main reason is that the tanks are a little mis-aligned in the skin and lining cheques up is a bit of a bum deal if you havnt got the patience, also i have seen the rarer striped tank version in pictures as well. So i took the easy , more aesthetic way out! I have also used a little bit of license in the pilots badges and insignia, they display contemporary, old and the traditional Sqn insignia of those units. The camo versions are fictitious for Australia and the SEA Cam skin which was first made by "Nuck", that he let me copy for Australia are great skins that i like to think we may have used if we had the Sabre in Vietnam and other places. HISTORY of the Australian CAC Sabre Mk 32 "Avon Sabre" The Commonwealth Aviation Corporation (CAC) Avon Sabre was a unique aircraft in Australian military aviation history. It was the first all metal jet fighter to be constructed in this country. The decision to produce the North American Aviation (NAA) F-86 Sabre, fitted with the Rolls-Royce Avon turbo-jet engine and upgraded armament in the form of two 30mm ADEN cannons, saw CAC embark upon a major re-design program. Because the Avon engine was lighter, shorter and of greater diameter than the General Electric J34 engine which powered the NAA Sabre, CAC incorporated major structural changes in the Sabre fuselage, resulting in a total redesign of almost 40% of the fuselage. The Avon Sabre gave sports car like performance as well as packing quite a punch. ln service the aircraft proved to be versatile and although no trainer variant was produced in Australia pilot conversion proceeded with reasonable speed. As NAA produced modifications to the basic design these were incorporated in CAC built aircraft. The slatted wing was replaced with the famous ‘six-three’ wing. Sidewinder missiles were fitted to the aircraft and even ground attack missions were incorporated within the aircraft’s repertoire. The Sabre served operationally with 3, 75, 76, 77 & 79 Squadrons RAAF, and 2 OTU & 3 OCU RAAF between 1953-68. They were based in Australia and overseas, serving in Ubon, Thailand and Butterworth, Malaysia under mutual defense treaties. The survivors were then refurbished and supplied to the Indonesian and Malaysian Air Forces. ( Copied from High Planes Models Saber brochure with gratitude) Download skins from here > https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/1857232/ Installation: Recommended: Download and use JSGME from here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=98607 The pack comes in a ready made JSGME ready folder structure, most people i know use JSGME , and all you need to do is just unzip the pack and drop the "Mod" into JSGME and your ready to go. Not recommended : If you dont use JSGME, remove the skins folders individually and place them in your game at \DCS World\CoreMods\aircraft\F-86\Liveries\f-86f sabre Grateful thanks to: SkateZilla's brilliant Templates, And Jocko417 for his black instrument panel which the Australian CAC Sabre did indeed have. Nuck for his South East Asia Skin (SEA) Hope they make the grade ! Enjoy Best regards Strut
  16. I have an Obutto, I love them and if your into flight sims you need to be comfortable, and ergonomically practical to your body, ive even made a couple of parts to fit the frame myself, ive raised the chair 10 inches and built another mount for my "hacked" collective, i thoroughly recommend it. I got mine from this fellow and was well looked after: http://www.simparts.co.nz/
  17. Another "SEA" Cam
  18. I thought id get the ball rollling in this thread and bring back a skin i did a few years ago. Its a " notional" skin because this is one AC unfortunately that Australia never had. Heres its picture. I was also very happy and honoured when DCS placed it into the simulator as part of the skin library.
  19. Goodluck :music_whistling:
  20. "I have found that if my Way Points extend to areas beyond the scale of the map you will not see them." --- of course that means your flying off the map wouldnt it ? Your use of the word "scale" you mean map edges or borders ? Scale is the ratio of the distance on the map corresponding to the distance on the ground. As i stated that's the only way to do it that i know of. Of course you can add as many other pages and maps as you like, but if you want to see your route, way points and position interactively you need to use ME and inputting your route with way points is the only way to do it as far as i know. What you need to remember is that the system isnt perfect and that when you are showing yourself not marked you may have to scroll to another map, and also there is a tendency to "disappear" on the map as well, some glitches that happen from time to time.
  21. You do this by adding waypoints to the mission in the Mission Editor, place waypoints onto areas you will be over flying and the maps will display your route and you will be able to "Mark" your position as you fly.
  22. I have updated my Australian Skins, i have also removed them from the DCS site. I am anticipating that a rework will need to be done in the future and i will continue with better skins once EDGE appears. So in the meantime here is a Dropbox link were you can download the Australian Sabre skins i made from the previous patch. https://www.dropbox.com/s/dyxfridn85fq5yi/Struts%20Aust%20F86%20Skins%20v3%20as%20at%2022Sep14.7z?dl=0

  24. Thanks Shahdoh good info as usual mate, thx.
  25. I agree with you, im a retired professional Infantry soldier, went up the ranks from the bottom, and did 30 years serving my country. Seen a lot and done a lot. RTP (Radio Telephone Procedure) never allowed swearing / cussing or vulgarity because it just wasnt done or professional. Yeah we all carried on in the boozer or "off the field", but we also didnt swear in front of female company or children. It was called self respect and common courtesy. However this day an age those concepts have been lost by younger generations because its trendy and fashionable to give offence and not accept any responsibility for your actions. So all i got to say mate is that your welcome to fly with the 229th, we might drop the occasional adjective, but we are pretty adult and enjoy our banter because usually we can achieve that without puerile behavior. We are primarily a Huey unit, but we fly most things, click on the link at the bottom of my signature block and look at our forum. We have US, Canadian, European, Australian, New Zealanders, so most time zones are covered, and a lot of us are ex and serving military, civil aviators and or people with the same interests. We dont really tolerate bullshitters and idiots.
