Are there any plans to make non-flying roles more of a thing in DCS? How about boom operator in a tanker, LSO on the carrier, expansions to Combined Arms, better human driven ATC/JTAC? Also, on the technical side, a way to export viewports over the network would be awesome for simpits. Dedicated multiplayer servers?

No, at the moment there are only very few screens that support 4K at higher than 60Hz properly. One of which is the nVidia BFGD. 65 inches, 4K, 120Hz, Gsync, built-in nvidia Shield, the works. Not exactly affordable though. I'd buy one in 40-42 inches but in their infinite wisdom they decided not to make that. Because reasons.

I just started playing around and exploring the Persian Gulf map and I am absolutely stunned by the amount of detail and how recognizable places are. Amazing job, well done guys! A small detail though - in Abu Dhabi, there is a gaping brown hole where Al Bateen Executive airport is supposed to be. Will that airport be included at a later date? It is quite a nice approach when you come in from the east and pass by the Sheik Zayed Grand Mosque on your left (which seems to be missing as well currently). The parking lots are there, but the mosque itself is not. So are there any plans to put these missing landmarks in or are there issues preventing you from doing so?

I have never heard of a ofsh file. For Helios you need to mess around with export.lua und modify the instrument init lua files.

Have had a TrackClip Pro, DelanClip and now run 2 UTC clips. The best hands down if you have the means to mount them properly.

Me too, but scratch the patiently part. It can't come soon enough! Oculus did buy out a company that was doing a Kickstarter for a hand tracking solution that looked pretty decent at the time, seems like their investment has paid off.

If only they made a version that is slightly less huge. I am running one of the aforementioned Philips 4k panels and they are amazing for DCS. I would upgrade to a BFGD in a heartbeat if only nvidia would make them in the 42 inch ballpark instead of going full bonkers with 65.

Meanwhile at Oculus: The tech they show here would lend itself greatly to DCS, can't wait to experience VR flying the way it is meant to be. Especially the gloveless hand tracking would be a godsend if Matt & staff would make it work with our clickable cockpits. The future does indeed look bright for VR in DCS.

I am on a long deployment right now, so I am limited to my laptop at this time but as soon as I arrive back home, I will dig as deep as I can into it. From the back of my head I can tell you I run a 4k main screen with a 1080p touchscreen underneath it, monitors are arranged vertically in Windows, Helios is the latest build, DCS runs in borderless window mode (as demanded by Helios) and my Export.lua is the latest of CaptZeen's. The lua mods to the A10C instruments are ancient, maybe this is where the ****up happens, but I'll compare them once I arrive home, but this is the place where I'd start looking first. Specs of my rig in signature, I run with SLI disabled but enabling it makes no difference in default mode and gives higher FPS but higher FPS fluctuations and also bad graphics errors when running in AFR2. Since Helios is open sourced now, why has nobody taken it up and started modernizing it? I am not a programmer but I'd love that so much as I am generally a tad happier with Helios than I am with Ikarus even when Ikarus does stuff like automatically switching between profiles when switching aircraft etc.

I have the same problem with export.lua. Fresh install, only added the latest CaptZeen version and once I start duplicating my MFD screens on the touchscreen (below the main screen), the FPS drop like crazy. Also noted a lot of LUA CPU resources being used when looking up the the stats.

So you can get SLI FPS gains from lowering the visible range? Sounds interesting, because so far I have been struggling with my SLI. Do you know whether the SLI advantage can also be gained when using cockpit software like Helios or Ikarus?

Hi, I've been using Helios (and recently Ikarus) for a while now and I've always known that it has some impact on performance. So I decided to test a Touchscreen setup vs non touchscreen. The touchscreen setup performs somewhere between 30-45fps most of the time with settings maxed, VSync off, FXAA via nvidia control panel and CaptZeen's glorious export.lua. Works fine with all his profiles. Now I disabled the exports, removed the secondary render ports from the aircraft modules, resized the res from 3840*3240 (1080p touch below 4k screen) down to native 4k 1 Screen and tried again. FPS were now between 70 and 110 but never below 60 so I can run 60 with VSync on all day. I also noticed a marked increase in texture quality on the terrain, distant textures don't appear as blurry anymore. Ctrl+Pause for FPS and load data reveals that without exports, LUA CPU load is below 1% at all times while with Helios or Ikarus it is up to 70% which seems to be the culprit. Given that I run a fairly speedy 10-core CPU, is there anything I can do to distribute that load more effectively or is the LUA stuff processed by the main thread and hence makes me run into bottlenecks? The LUA CPU load for the DCS Exporter bundled with Ikarus is pretty much the same, probably a 5% difference from CaptZeen's exporter. 1.5.8 also had performance loss when using Helios but I can't say if it was as severe since I uninstalled it already.

Now that was an easy fix - the nut you told me was a bit loose, I remember being too careful with it in the past when trying to tighten it because I was doing it with the software being opened and I noticed movement on the rudder axis. Now I thought "screw it" and tightened it until it wouldn't move in any further, disconnected and reconnected the pedals and voila, works like a charm. The slight inaccuracies for return to center are because of the hydraulic dampener that puts a little bit more strain on the centering spring than it can deal with but the fluctuation is less than half a percent, so I'm super happy. Hi, just ran into a problem that after a long while of headscratching I could at least pinpoint: When I step into the pedals, the neutral point shifts ever so slightly into the direction of input. So after a few hard steps on left rudder and after letting them return to the center point, the input is slightly off to the left instead of neutral/centered. I can fix this by using a few hard steps on the opposite direction. If I overdo it, the neutral position will be shifted to the right in terms of signal output. So even if I could calibrate them, there seems to be some kind of mechanical problem going on, anybody know how to fix that? A long time ago I tried to skype with Slaw and his english wasn't very good but we managed to reinstall the firmware on the controller board but it didn't help the problem at all. Have tools and I am willing to work on it, but maybe one of you guys already had that problem and maybe it was easier to fix than me taking the whole assembly apart in an attempt to figure out what is going on. Helios still works in 2.5 no problem, if you want to look for an alternative, go for Ikarus (https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=179525).

Servus Micha, vielen Dank für deine Hilfe, die Zeilen aus der Config löschen hat schon mal das Problem mit den Abstürzen behoben! :thumbup: So, weiter im Text, ich mach mich mal dran die ganzen Flieger zu konfigurieren und zu testen und dann gebe ich Feedback. 3D Horizont ist ein geniales Feature, das fehlt bei Helios nämlich. Gäbe es die Möglichkeit Ikarus noch beizubringen Keyboard Tastendrucke abzuschicken oder geht es exklusiv über die LUA API? Besten Dank nochmal! Martin

Hallo nochmal, hab jetzt etwas herumprobiert und der Absturz beim Abspeichern eines Profils ist immer noch nicht weg, egal mit welchen Permissions. Software dürfte die letzte Version sein, allerdings steht in den Eigenschaften der ikarus.exe eine Versionsnummer von 1.2.1.5 aber mit einem Änderungsdatum vom 30.12.2017. Weiters habe ich probiert in der Config.xml ganz oben die Cockpit Position global zu ändern in der Hoffnung das würde alle Profile gleich am richtigen Ort starten. Schirme sind einmal 4K und darunter linksbündig angeordnet ein 1080p. Ergo in der config.xml den Wert von CockpitPosY von 1080 auf 2160 geändert und gehofft es würde alles auf den unteren Schirm schieben, aber Fehlanzeige... :helpsmilie:

Luftdruck fällt in der Realität nicht linear mit der Höhe wobei die Faustformel mit 27 bzw 30ft pro hPa/mBar halbwegs hinhaut für DCS relevante Höhen. Niedrigster Luftdruck der auf Meeresniveau je gemessen wurde waren 870 hPa überm Pazifik im Jahr 1979 laut Guinness Buch der Rekorde. Wann kommt endlich DCS:Chemtrails? :music_whistling:

Open Windows Explorer (Win+E), the left bar should show you a tree of things. One folder should be a folder named just like your windows user. Double click on it. A subfolder of your User folder should be called "Saved Games". It contains a DCS.openbeta folder (or just DCS if you updated your 1.5.8 final to 2.5 Openbeta). In there is a folder called metashaders. Delete or rename it. Reload DCS, suffer the longer loading time only once and pretty much all the shading stuff should be fixed apart from weird discoloration in fog.

Hallo zusammen, endlich zuhause angekommen nach einer Dienstreise hab ich nun das Problem daß beim Abspeichern eines Profils Ikarus abstürzt. Auch als Administrator funktioniert das nicht, andere Locations funktionieren auch nicht. OS ist Win10 auf englisch mit allen Updates. Gibt es dafür einen Workaround oder soll ich auf den nächsten Patch warten? Nochmal vielen Dank für die Software, hat so viel Potential und wird letzten Endes Helios ablösen bei mir. :)
