enable trackir in the options menu for the uh-1, even if u don't have trackir, then use the mouse to aim your guns, both the copilot and the door gunners

cheers, I just watched this and wanted to share: dunno if it's been already posted but anyway, great visuals.. As a sidenote, was observing the flight stick and it doesn't seem very different from the A-10 one. So in DCS F-18C are we going to have pretty similar hotas controls? Wish we could get the sniper pod too, although I doubt we'll see it in our sim..

How do I move DCS World to a new SSD?
whitehot replied to mytai01's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
I performed the move months ago, cut-paste and all has been fine. I had the same doubts as the op and the forum folks convinced me that there wouldn't had been any problem, and so it went. -
afaik there is only one camo green, the others all gray :D

I don't think it's just an overlay, there is a IR channel in game, although it's kinda static. It isn't very realistic - you can use it in every condition while for example, it is a known fact that this kind of sensor becomes nearly useless at certain times of the day (dawn and sunset basically - thermal exchanges between earth and atmosphere make flir displays a huge mess)

Dating mini-game with female civilian "instructor"?

man how did ya find that manual (the spanish one) ? it's great - You could probably make a DCS level flanker out of it. If only I could do spanish at a more than elementary level.. nice find anyway..

+1 - Some months ago (when I stopped doing MP for a while) you could enter BVR fights with eagles and come out on top. Now from the little I've seen it's a matter of spamming aim-120C The Mig-31 /R-33 has that capability

thx for the reply. The problem went away after running the dcs repair tool. Apparently it had some trouble because I had changed my online name, since repairing it reverted the nick back to the one I had before.

I didn't see the track, but if we're talking leopard 1, they have pretty much the same armor as the t-55. As a tank, it had a rather light protection, even from the front - I would say that antitank cluster bombs should disable it 9 times out of 10. If it's leo2 though, I guess that nothing less than a direct hit from a 500 kg bomb would cause its destruction. the s-24 - probably would cause damage, but only sides or rear shot.

can't connect to any server. The most it can do is getting to a screen "loading mission", then "connection interrupted". It's doing like this for every server I tried.

s-57 rockets and rbk-250 aren't going to do much more than plaster MBTs. They are anti-personnel weapons. So the answer is, it is not your skill, nor the dcs damage model (although having a more detailed one would probably lead you to have mobility kills, firepower kills and so on). If you want rockets effective against tanks, you pick s-8 KOM (heat warheads, anyway u need to hit MBTs from sides or better, the rear). If u want cluster bombs, the RBK-500 with the heaviest bomblet load should do it (can't remember its exact name in game). Although, I'm not sure the Mig-21 can load up this ordnance, remember that that AC was never conceived as an anti-tank platform, and probably if it had to undertake such mission it would had loaded iron bombs

imho flankers are severely hampered by this - having awacs and ew for both sides would be blessing

Can't shoot down cruise missiles with cannon.
whitehot replied to Capn kamikaze's topic in General Questions
about avengers and linebackers, I highly doubt they could intercept the cruise missiles - they fly too low and fast, and these systems wouldn't simply have the time to perform an engagement routine up to missile launch. Patriots should be capable of engaging them, although they too would have difficulties if operating on their own. If the patriots would instead operate as part of an integrated AD network, with at least one awacs in it, they should have a fair probability of success. Yet, I don't know if in DCS we have such degree of accuracy in this particular situation: the sam battery needs to be alerted by the awacs, or by whoever has sensors tracking the cruise missiles. The patriots would need targeting data passed to them, as their own acquisition radar would be having to deal with targets too low on (or even under) the horizon. Having the targets params though, would make the patriots scan the exact mile of sky where the missiles would appear once they are inside the radar horizon. They would "lock em up" fairly quickly and be able to take at least one, maybe multiple shots at the "vampires", enhancing the pK vastly -
It's nice to hear what you say. imho this kind of simulation can be a real support in learning "the real thing" - both at a general level, giving a feel of what flight looks like from the cockpit of an aircraft, but also in more particular ways. In fact, flight simulators have been used for years by schools and academies, to make cadets much more ready when they get to the cockpit: and also by consummate professional pilots, who often keep practicing in simulators situations which would be too costly to recreate in rl. And, being our favorite sim, DCS world, probably the most realistic and better looking /sounding/feeling commercially available software in the category, it's not a surprise that folks working in real cockpits feel it is a very useful tool. Anyway, very nice pic! - I downloaded it and when opened, it looks correctly orientated

May be a brakethrough in overclocking for you

sry, I must be seeing things because I thought I read somebody saying that OC isn't worth a try.. -
May be a brakethrough in overclocking for you
whitehot replied to Bucic's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I brought my CPU from 3.2 ghz to 4 ghz, only using air cooling (a good Noctua fan) and I never had any problems whatsoever with games or video encoding etc. When I performed the overclocking, I wasn't into liquid cooling. too many pumps, hoses and things which I didn't want to bother with. But, with such a device, my 960 could well have gone at 4.4 ghz I believe. And, I can say without any doubt, that particularly in DCS, there is a BIG difference in running at 4 ghz instead of 3.2 ghz. Modern CPUs are very flexible in terms of overclocking. My suggestion is to read as more documents as you can before you start tinkering. In particular, find sources who describe the OC procedures for your specific CPU. Remember that an effective OC isn't just a CPU thing, it involves several other components as well (Which means that the motherboard and the RAM are as much as important as the CPU: find models made for OC). Do the job progressively, with small increments, especially if you aren't confortable with the settings, and then test the new settings thoroughly. If errors or crashes happen, something ain't right, go back to the bios setup and fine tune your parameters. Remember that "more ghz" need "more voltage", but also, that you aren't going to "cook up" components instantly (well ofc you aren't going to give 12v to a device made for 1.2v) - what cooks up chips today is high temperatures for long periods. Know what your components max temps are, and decide a temp threshold you don't want to break - I would pick 80/85% of the declared value. To test the OC, use prime number generators - they can stress the CPU quite easily. Also, a program called IntelBurnTest has been very useful for me. Always check temperatures with one of the many utilities that do that - your reference value is the temperature at the cores, not the generic CPU temp. -
wonderful.. I'll grab the 2000 and the f1 as soon as they come out, but the f1 is a real great news to me.

I finished it yesterday, and all in all, I must say I really enjoyed it. Missions are not particularly difficult; nonetheless they require some effort to complete. The most fun ones have been the ground attack ones to me, employing the flanker in such role is an uncommon but fulfilling experience. There is maybe some little frustration in air combat, but it's due to the current unfinished state of the Flanker and specially the development stage of the AA missiles in general. That means, that I'm probably play the campaign again, at some other time, maybe when EDGE is out and the AA missiles models are better rendered. One thing's for sure: ED, keep the DLC campaigns coming! I'm an avid SP player (not that I don't do MP, but I normally prefer to play all the SP campaign and missions to consumption, before using a mod in MP), but I think this simulator needs some constant flow of SP material too. AFAIK, I'll buy any DLC campaign that comes out - if they are atl east on par with Ultimate Argument, they are totally worth their cost

I've been flying since flanker 1 too.. If there's a sim in my heart it's that; also, can't forget the anticipation for flanker 2.0.. My mp experience though, started with DCS world, so no ladders..

I installed the v6 of the software.. The profiler works well, without crashes or other stunts. I managed to make the pinkie as I wanted, by eliminating the switched states modes. The only thing not working is the tracking point. Even in the v6, whatever I assign to it, it doesn't work, if it's not used as a mouse. I'll try to play around with it a little more, but in the end, I can live without that particular control. The hotas is a very fine one, maybe not a tm warthog but yet a very precise and effective control stick and throttle

I've been flying several missions of the Ultimate Argument campaign with a pilot I created just for it, Mikhail Bondarenko. But, I went through its entry in the logbook, and he hasn't got any flying hour, counters are stuck to zero. Mission kills are recorded right though. EDIT: logbook somehow updated after 17 missions.. now shows flying time correctly. It' a strange behaviour, but maybe not a bug, don't know. Probably some minor glitch anyway.

I still have to finish the campaign, but the *SPOILER alert* mission in which u have to bring down an awacs it's simply great
