Thanks for all the help, maybe I'll just keep it on the POV hat. -
how do I assign Shkval to X-52 mousestick?
swe_badger replied to swe_badger's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Thanks for the tip, however is there a way to do it without using SST profiler? Like within DCS controls menu? I just can't be bothered in creating a profile ATM, I just forget all the buttons if I don't play the same game constantly (which I don't). -
Does anybody know how to do this?

0:38:23 had me ROFLMAO!

Strangely, when I stopped using trimmer I started to fly much better. Landing is a breeze now, no trimming or autohover required. Last night I had a blast on a freeflying server just doing all sorts of crazy manoeuvres, manual hovering, vertical landing (roof tops etc.), horizontal landing etc. Might be that I recently upgraded to an X-52 (non-pro) from an old Aviator, soooo much smoother input. Tonight I'm going hunting on some server. I agree that the it would be nice to be able to look straight down through the floor when doing precision vertical landings. Saw some absolutely pro shark flyers on the freeflight server, I always think I'm a pretty good pilot but then one or two guys show up and they fly like they ARE the freaking chopper.:D

Well, well. Might that have something to do with this?: GCI, or am I just reading in to things too much?:hehe:

New Su-27 model coming for FC3 / DCSW.
swe_badger replied to Eight Ball's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I'd like to add also that the Su-27 deserves this attention not only because it's waaay overdue but she was the one that started it all. Stunning model, just stunning! Bravo! -
Track IR 5 Ordered (10 days processing?)
swe_badger replied to Priest's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I ordered mine from a guy/company on ebay, they shipped it less than 24 hours after I paid for it. Cheaper than from Natural Point to boot. -
I landed a few times with the Su-27 last night, it's like a magnet on a metal plate. Basically the same as in Flanker 2.0 over 12 years ago, the same goes for the 3D model. Ok ok! I won't nag anymore, I know it will be fixed soon.

Bought FC3 today, the Flanker looks absolutely horrible and it's one of my favourites BUT improved model on the way. I say buy it, it's worth it just for the su-25 IMO.

I'm gonna have to postpone my purchase of the P-51D boxed version, getting the Huey and the MiG-21bis first. This is gonna be one awesome winter season of DCS flying!:joystick::thumbup:

Considering a GPU upgrade, but on a tight budget
swe_badger replied to BIGNEWY's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
That's some good bang for your bucks right there on that 7850. The 256-bit bus coupled with the 2GB of VRAM is good if you tend to play on high-resolutions. It's gonna run DCS just fine I reckon. Nvidia are getting more competitive in the budget area for each new generation though, if they'd drop the price a little bit (it is already a fair price though) on the GTX 660's (not Ti) they'd destroy both the 7850 and 7870 as those are the main competition for the non-Ti GTX line. Good buy! -

If you can find a GTX 660 (2GB) under 200€, get it! It's the best bang for your buck ATM IMO. If that's too expensive for you, the HD 7850 is a great budget alternative. I was recently contemplating on getting a PNY GTX 660 2GB O/C for only 199€ but realized my current GPU runs DCS fine really, so I put the cash on a TrackIR 5 (with pro clip) instead. Exciting times ahead! :D -
If you have FSX, you might want to check out this very nice (for being freeware) MiG-21 add-on. It might not be a 100% accurate model but it does require proper start-up procedures (there is a quick-start option though) to get off the ground. Manuals and checklists are included. Also, the MF version comes without sound files but you can use the sound files from the F-13 model. There's something wonky about the elevators at take-off though, I'm not sure if it's an actual MiG-21 feature or not but USE ELEVATOR TRIM when taking off or you'll be stuck to the ground. Also, press SHIFT-2 to get the "on the ground menu" up to get started, very important. I attached some screens for you to enjoy, I use REX Essentials Plus as a weather add-on. Oh! Here's the link to the page where you can download this lovely bird: http://migsim.ic.cz/

I didn't mind "unregistering" my old Win XP sticker that I haven't used for 6 years. For me it was the perfect deal but I agree what previous posters said, if you have Win7 license, there's really not much incentive to upgrade right away BUT the promotion is so darn good and we all know Win8 will replace Win7 at some point. Everyone to his/her own I guess.:)

I'm getting a new SSD this week, lord knows how fast it will boot up on that thing. So far, for 29,99€ it's a no-brainer really.

No worries, glad I could help. With regards to the iso/usb thingiemabob, I just checked the USB I put my install on and it shows that approx. 2.66GB of space is occupied on my 8GB USB stick. I have to say, that's some impressive compressing considering the whole 64-bit installation takes up roughly 20GB of space when it's finished. You wouldn't believe how fast it installed and was up and running. Also the start-up and shutdown times are radically improved, I have a 5900 RPM drive but I swear, Win8 boots up and shuts down faster than Win7 did when I had my SSD drive (RIP). Great stuff. With regards to the new start screen, I like it as I now think of it as a kind of new Start Menu, switching between it and the regular desktop is totally seamless.
