Well, I managed to take off but with a lot of low rpm howling, same with landing later to drop my troops but had a stupid "didn´t pay attention"-crash a little later. Running takeoff wasn´t really possible as the farp is really crowded in that mission. I can´t check the starting altitude now, but you start at the standard campaign farp at Kutaisi. It was mainly that the briefing was confusing me, probably just me misunderstanding it.

Yeah, I would like that too ! And when that smoke would move with the wind to give you the wind direction like the white smoke from the chimneys and not just stand straight up like the smoke markers in mission that would be even better !
-
That makes sense so far, but my twist-grip throttle is already maxed out with the normal starting procedure. How can I use that to further increase the rpm ? Maybe it´s just a language problem combined with me being tired and stupid :-/ That briefing is confusing me ;-) Perhaps someone who already did that mission can describe exactly what he did ?

Hi all, I just tried the campaign mission "Patrols". At the beginning I´m told that as the bird is so heavy I´m supposed to set the governor switch to manual, then increase rpm, take off, then set governor to auto again. Same for landing. Well, it didn´t work. As the governor switch has "Auto" and "Emer(gency)" I suppose that by "manual" the "emer" setting is ment. I set the triangular switch to the "emer"-setting and used the button mapped to increase turbine rpm on my throttle but nothing happened. I tried decrease turbine rpm (saw the switch move on the collective in game in both cases) and nothing happened. Then I set the triangular switch to "auto" again and then the turbine rpm increase/decrease worked. Now, isn´t that the wrong way around ?!? I tested in the mission editor with the same results: Triangular governor switch "emer" (down, broad side of the triangel), yellow warning light comes on, but no effect of turbine rpm decr/incr. Triangular switch to "Auto" (up, "pointy side"), turbine decr/incr works. If I change the rpm with the switch in the auto setting, like lowering so much the low rpm warning comes on and then switch to "emer", the rpm comes back up. Switch to "Auto" again, rpm goes down... Is there something wrong or am I being completely stupid ? I really don´t know which is the case...

Hi, first thank you so much for this Huey Belsimtek, a dream since earliest C116 and C64 times finally came true! Absolutely outstanding work ! Now on topic: I encountered a weird problem in the second UN-Campaign mission: After mission start, without moving the chopper I went to F2-view and without changing the camera angle I turned on the anti-collision light (the red one on top). Exact steps were: Start mission, turn off yellow text, center TrackIr, zoom neutral, F2, a-c light on. After about half a rotation of the light my screen went white, the sound stopped and my PC stopped responding completely, had to do a hardware-reset. I tested this several times with the same results. Then I started up the mission but turned the camera to the other side of the chopper and then turned on the anti-collision light. The screen went white again, but the sound stayed on, but somewhat "stuttery", then after some seconds the screen turned black, then the sim was back, but with fps in the single-digit area. Turning the anti-collision light on and off changed nothing then, no more white screens but still extremely low fps. Then I went to the mission editor and tested with various aircraft skins on airports as well as farps in different camera angels: No problem with the anti collision light. I then started the second campaign mission again -> F2 -> light on -> "White screen of Death"... :alien: Now I´ve no idea if this is a problem with my computer or with the sim, maybe some special combination of light settings (early morning) and skin and lights or whatever, but I thought I´d post it here... My PC is a i7-3770 with 16GB, Win8 64, GeForce GTX 660 Ti Greets, Wolf

I just tried your mission and flying with the music in the headphones was great ! Somehow it all worked a lot better, I touched down on the farp and landed home safely, well with a few bullet holes in the windscreen. :-D Thank god I was flying right seat, my buddy on the left side apparently came close to getting it ;-) I think maybe the music helps in "thinking less" and more flying by "feeling". Usually I either crash on landing or I´m parking my Baby not really where I planned to... There should be an option in the game menu to just click "radio on frequency xyz" and you give a filepath to your music folder so you can listen to your favorite flying songs regardless if it was put in the mission by the maker or not, that would be great ! Or maybe the ability to tune in to some online radio station the same way lol. Anyways, thanks for your mission, I enjoyed it !

I just did that mission, you´re right, it was great ! Now for the funny part: I was about to land, just before the "Dancing Huey" part when suddenly the second one of the two hinds appeared in front of me from the left. This startled me and I did some "reflex"-movements with all the controls to avoid crashing into it, the only thing I remember was yanking back on the stick, and this wild yanking somehow put me in a relatively nice hover just in front of the pad and I managed to settle her down on the H without damages !:clap_2: Thanks, unknown AI Hind pilot, you saved the day ! Now I just need you to be there just in time everytime I want to land :smilewink: After the good experience with using the trim for takeoff as roiegat described I use the force trim thingy much more often, and it helps.
-
This one helped me so much !! Thank you  I just managed something somehow resembling a hover ! (Rudders not trimmed but set a more aggressive curve) The hardest part for me now is landing, especially the transition from forward flight to hover, it always ends in "The Crazy Dancing Huey Show"

Auto Update is running ! edit: no, it´s not: Can´t download object - some filename - hash mismatch... ?!? edit2: Now it works ! Sorry for the confusion, I´m like a little boy at christmas ;-)
-
Oh hallelujah I finally remembered my password ! And it´s such a stupid one ! I was almost close to tears when I couldn´t remember it and the password reset wouldn´t work... Okay now ED and Belsimtek, I´m ready, you can activate the auto updater and the buy button now ;-) And I have to fly (or better crash) this evening as the next days I probably can´t, roe buck season opens tomorrow.
-
Thanks ! Now if I could only remember that password...Resetting it doesn´t work, it says "Control string and your registration information has just been sent to your E-mail address. Please wait for the email. Note that the check word is re-generated on each request." but I don´t get a mail... Aahrgh, the Mother of all chopper sims is near and I won´t be able to fly :cry:

Well, not a DCS World boxed release, I bought DCS: P51 as a box, and it installed DCS World and P51 from the CD. The auto-updater worked fine with 1.2.3 and the following small patch, I just wonder if a module that was bought online will work together with one that came in a box in the same install ? Because not "purchased from one website account" ? edit: thanks vtsgoose, I will look at that.
-
Stupid question in between: My DCS World comes from the german boxed version´s CD of DCS P51. Will I be able to install the Huey (wich I have to buy through the website of course) into that install ? I´m asking as I saw "All DCS modules should be purchased from one website account." in the E-Shop... edit: @ Darkwolf: I´m gonna be at home for the next 3 hours or so, when the auto-updater works in this time I´m gonna post here.
-
Oh no Sir, I would never ever make fun about such a serious matter. ;-)
-
Now, with all the "F5-ing" over the last few days or weeks really nobody has noticed that 1.2.4 is available for download for at least half an hour now ?!? http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/world/dcs_world/ I even had time to reset my password as I read a lot here but never post... Still no Huey buy button yet, and no auto-updater. But it can only be a matter of a few hours now until :pilotfly::joystick: hmm, there´s no crash smiley... ;)

Well, no joy... I did as you wrote, the folder now contains Low.scn, Medium.scn and High.scn all made from Low.scn, all 44.147 KB in size and an unaltered ETL.FSC. I put myself in a lonely A10 out of Batumi, and again I got it all, big appartement blocks, small houses, ships, boats, trees, everything... :helpsmilie: EDIT: After another complete reinstall now the different settings work. No idea what was wrong there. Although there are more buildings left in the "low" setting than I thought...
-
Thank you, will try that right away !

Hi everybody, after having been away from Lock On and PC-flying for quite some time I recently got FC2 and am all infected with the virus again. Unfortunately I have a pretty old computer (Athlon 2.4, HD 3450) so I have to turn down the settings a bit to make it enjoyable. And here is where the problems start. As I get the biggest FPS-drops near cities I want to set "Scenes" to medium or low, but I can´t. Well, I can do it in the options screen, but it has no effect. When I first tried it I had already messed with some files, for example to get the lower quality water, so I did a un- and reinstall of Lock On + FC2 + patch, but it´s still the same: I set "Scenes" to "low" in the options screen, but no matter if I start a campaign, or a quick start mission or just put a lonely aircraft for myself somewhere in the mission editor, I got all the buildings and all the trees. Even when making a mission in the editor and "enforcing" Scenes low in the editor additionally to having it set that way in the options screen it doesn´t work... I already spent two days reading through forums, but it seems nobody has that problem except me... Any ideas ? Greets, Wolf
