Can't dodge heaters to save my LIFE. Literally
Shein replied to Shein's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Embarrassing. I was trying to use heaters in BVR missions, I was clicking the wrong mission the whole time... Lesson learned. -

a su-27, i'm playing the DCAT missions. Aaaaand in looking up what missiles they're shooting at me, they're R27ER's. Radar guided. That explains a lot... -
Can't dodge heaters to save my LIFE. Literally
Shein posted a topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I've read every bit of theory, every manual, watched as many videos as I can, but heat seeking missiles get me EVERY time. What am I doing wrong? I reduce thrust to no AB, I throw flares like crazy, I maneuver like crazy as well in an attempt to make the missile bleed energy but it STILL gets me! Ideas? mentoring? anything? -
Unable to advance in campaign 'deployment' Hey I was playing thru the deployment campaign in DCSW, and after completing the "stronghold" (mission 3) mission with 100% (i always check before i quit the mission), i can no longer click the 'next' button. It makes the ticking noise but nothing happens. I tried alt-tabbing, I can enter and exit other campaigns just fine, and I tried examining the campaign file itself in the campaign builder. Nothing. Any ideas?
-
Sadly, no. He is working on making a DCSW compatible version though! I personally, can not wait!
-
Oh! nifty. I'll take the condescension and like it long as I have my voices fixed! (No dignity)
-
The training missions for DCS Mustang have no narration. The courier mission for the KA-50, and the hind in the first mission of the deployment campaign for the KA-50 used to have voices to the text as well, but they're silent. Will these be fixed later?
-
I've never heard of such a thing, does that go on in real life? Regardless, the KA-50 was designed by a communist country... air force? army? share and share alike! ;)
-
install the DCS: KA-50 module. It'll fix the texture problem, the download is free; all you pay for is the CD key to be able to fly a ka-50.

why play AAA vehicles? you've obviously never used the german Gepard to shred a helo with its 35mm autocannons. Ohhhhh the glory. Also, I remember reading in the interview with wags on simHQ that the guy who made SAMsim (this guy: https://sites.google.com/site/samsimulator1972/) said he was interested in working with ED to bring the ground vehicles in CA up to snuff. So i guess what I'm saying is +1 to everyone who said just give it time it'll get there...

In need of a tweak guide for low-end PC
Shein replied to maturin's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Funny you post all this, I was about to post a new thread asking the same thing. I just built a new PC, I can run skyrim on max settings, 60 frames per second, but only get 12-17 on the ground with DCS mustang... I know a lot of people said 1.2.0 takes a hit to performance from 1.1.1.1, understandably so since it's still beta, but i was hoping someone had a good FPS tweaks guide... a search yielded the following info to me: -click the low or medium preset options, then change the settings to what you want. Clicking these changes some things "under the hood" that you can't change manually. -TSAA and MSAA are huge performance hogs with the new bushes and trees, those should be first on the chopping block when trying to save frames -do a search for harbors making the FPS drop dramatically, theres some good info in there about modifying the draw distance for structures that helped a lot of people go from 30 to about 70 fps. I don't have the thread on hand I apologize for that. -alt tab-ing at the start of the mission may help. It also fixes the can't click the 'fly' button problem. That's all I got so far. Hope this helps, maybe some more FPS tweaks will be discovered soon and I'm sure the next DCS world patch will address this stuff too! -
The labels are on yes, because I'm not that good yet. And yeah, I'm JUST now learning how not to lose energy

Right now? Nothing. Don't have a flying job yet, I just graduated from embry riddle aeronautical in may, so I'm working on my CFI at the moment, then I hope to find a job flight instructing once that's finished. From there? corporate or cargo By the way, I'm a huge fan of your BS2 missions!

I'm a pilot in real life, I play a lot of sims because I love them and to keep my rudimentary stick and rudder skills up to snuff. Recently, I've been running this one mission I made every night to see if it improved my dogfighting skills as time went on. It goes like this: I'm flying an F-15, and it pits me against 1 other F-15. If I shoot him down, it spawns 2 more. I shoot them down, it spawns 3 more. etc, etc etc. Anyway, I took a video of my best run so far, and here it is! If you'd like the mission to play yourself, I'd be happy to upload it

Check out the rest, there is a sitting on the wing rescue and everything!

You could be... I'll have to watch again and see whats what. Good catch though... only people on these forums will probably notice things like this haha

Predator pilot's die when aircraft crashes!!
Shein replied to cichlidfan's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Of course the pilot died. Didnt you know predators are piloted by samurai? He failed and committed sepuku. -
While down at college in florida, a buddy of mine and I played DCS Black Shark a lot. I graduated and moved back to PA, he went to washington for an internship, so before we both went out separate ways we flew together one last time (we did all this over LAN) Anyway, the mission turned out pretty epic. I saved the track, and made it into a video! If you'd like to see it, here you are! (pardon the captions, I tried to make it easier for non-KA-50 pilots to understand) Enjoy: :pilotfly:

Problem fixed! Here is what we ended up doing: forward ports 10307-10309 in your router make your IP address static have friend connect to the IP ADDRESS GIVE BY IPCHICKEN.COM NOT BY DCS WORLD! with the port 10308 For example, have him connect to <IP address>:10308 all set! Thank you all for your help!

Now I know I'm not the only one having this problem... but a search yielded little help. The issue I'm having, is that me and a buddy want to host a DCS game of our own, but when we create servers they are not visible on the main screen, and the direct IP method says "connecting to server" for a good 20 seconds then says "can't connect." -We can both join other servers just fine -Neither one of us can host -LAN games work fine, we've done LAN before Things I have tried: - port forwarding: I created a static IP for myself, made sure DCSW was using that IP, and forwarded the ports in my router settings - Windows firewall isn't a problem, we checked that already and DCSW is allowed access to all networks - we both run the game as an administrator I'm fresh out of ideas. Him and I can't be the only ones who want to host our own games to play together, does anyone have any ideas or input?? anything at all? Thanks

Figured it out. DO NOT TRY TO USE AN X52 PRO WITH A USB 3.0 DRIVE!!!!!
-
I know this isn't a saitek support forum, but people here know joysticks and I'm pulling my hair out. For whatever reason whenever I plug my X52 pro in, it breaks the internet and stops my computer from finding any new devices. I have NO IDEA why this is. The joystick functions as it should, but even after unplugging it I can't get access to anything online or any new devices (like a flash drive) on my computer. Not until I restart the computer. I've updated the drivers 70 times, made sure I had the correct version, but even under device manager I can't uninstall them; it just says "uninstalling...." endlessly. Something is SERIOUSLY screwed with these drivers and I, for the life of me, just can't figure it out. Did anyone else have these problems? And only a few days earlier this joystick was working FINE on my other computer, same OS, all that jazz.

I found the savegame folder just fine for 1.1.1.1, but I can't find where the campaign progress is saved at all for DCS world. Any help?
