Unrestrict view angles in non-6DOF pits?
Shein replied to Shein's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
+1 Took some getting used to, but now I literally can't fly without it. I might even value it more than my HOTAS... -
Unrestrict view angles in non-6DOF pits?
Shein replied to Shein's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
6DOF is typically done with a TrackIR device, I highly recommend getting one. If not, you can still look around with the mouse, clicking and holding the middle mouse button will allow you to move the head up and down, forward and back. Not sure how roll is accomplished without a trackIR though... -
Unrestrict view angles in non-6DOF pits?
Shein replied to Shein's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Yes that is what I was looking for... thanks! -
There was a mod for FC2 to unrestrict the view angles for the all the cockpits. 6DOF cockpit's dont have the restrictions, so the F-15 is okay now but the flanker, mig29, etc still have it. Is there a way to remove it?

i understand the f15 hud shows indicated, is there a way to make it show true? also, playing around with it more, in sim, 400 knots seems to work a little better than 340, just an observation

Wow, really? I always thought the F-15 had the 29 outclassed in every way... I know the su is the end-all best slow turning dogfighter in FC3, but I really thought the eagle was in second place... I'd love to see that graph, viper! Wow, awesome info kingsnake! That's the stuff I was looking for! Which one is the important one to look at, true or indicated? And I tried applying less back pressure to maintain speed, but it resulted in a turn so slow I might as well have been flying straight - I was dead in seconds. That's what prompted me to start this thread! But still, rep sent for all the awesome info!

so this article really changed the way I dogfight WVR in FC2: http://www.simhq.com/_air/PDF/air_097print.pdf Not sure if you guys were aware of it, I did a quick search and couldn't find anything. So in FC2, I was able to hold a tight turn at 340-350 knots, without losing any airspeed. I was even able to take on 8 mig 29's at once, and live (though it took a LOT of practice) at one point. Now as I understand it, corner velocity increases with weight, and 340 is the speed for 70% fuel and no missile, full gun load. I also thought that the flight model was not changed from FC2 to FC3, but it seems I'm unable to turn at all in FC3 without bleeding an insane amount of energy. Either I turn so sluggish I might as well be prop driven to maintain speed, or I turn at 5-6 g's and I bleed airspeed so fast I'm down to 240 knots in 30 degrees of heading change. I can't seem to find a happy medium... so what am I doing wrong? Has the speed changed? has the flight model changed? is there something I'm missing? Any veterans want to weigh in on this? :book: also, any tips/tricks/observations related to WVR welcome, this is a topic I love talking about!

I OC'd both my GPU and CPU, and I saw more of a difference with the CPU than I did GPU, just food for thought. CPU is an Ivy Bridge I7, GPU is a GTX 670 FTW

Payware Models for DCSW (ONLY External 3D Models ! )
Shein replied to HungaroJET's topic in DCS Modding
I voted "Yes ! Even/moreover if it is a completly new model (SR-71, RAH-66 etc.)" Simply because they mentioned the Comanche. I'm kind of obsessed (see my avatar) -
You're spot on with that, streakeagle. The group logic is very different in FC3. I had and just had help figuring out this problem; check this thread (its very short!) http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1616239#post1616239

Hey man thanks for your help! +1 rep sent!

That appears to have done the trick... idk what "that" is exactly though because I tried all of your suggestions. Each mig has its own group, set the orbit waypoint, all that but if you wanna try it here you go: 8migfight.miz

if you can fly low enough, some of the longer range sams have a tough time locking you up. Did it once to a buk. Course flying THAT low can be dangerous enough in of itself; and YMMV and all that jazz. course, it is exhilarating...

Obviously a bug but a pretty cool one! With a few clever uses of triggers in the ME, you can "simulate" a nuke explosion as well, just FYI

Hey all I'm a fan of gun fighting, I did it extensively in FC2. My favorite thing to do was to set up me, in an F-15C, vs 8 Mig-29S's and see how many I could take out before they got me Trying to do this in FC3, only about 2 will actively engage me, the rest seem to depart the combat zone and idly fly around, or some of them even land! If I fly close to them they'll attack but mostly they seem disinterested in me... really takes the challenge out of it! I've tried everything in the mission editor; switching up waypoints, trying all different tasks (fighter sweep, CAP, intercept, etc) But how do I make them all actively engage me like in FC2? Any help or ideas or suggestions appreciated! I can post the mission, if you guys wanna try it or tweak it yourselves. Let me know! :pilotfly:

Howbout a better gun noise for the in cockpit sound when firing the gun in all aircraft (F15's comes to mind though)? similar to the A-10's gun noise update with A-10C, (the a10a was the same gun noise as the rest in FC2) something better than that rumble thats been around since FC2...

I would kill for any other KA-50 variant. Even modeling the igla's on the wingtips. It wont happen though. *ANY 3RD PARTY DEV READING THIS: I WILL GIVE YOU MONEY IF YOU MAKE A KA-50 MOD!*

Saw a pilot eject from an a-50, i dont think they have ejection seats...

Oh? I didn't see it on the list, my apologies. Also, last I checked the russian planes have a 23mm cannon, on the ' menu it says I got hit with '30mm HE ' that's frightening *imagines what a warthog caliber bullet would do to an F-15* I'm not sure if its taking 30mm damage, but thats what the report labels it as. howbout this: Wingman ordered to 'attack bandits' and he fires one AIM120 at both enemy planes... THEN ONE AT ME. Killing me. Yes I have a track. Even if this is known, watch it for its hilarity. The track is recorded from my wingman's point of view, showing his vagrant fratricide in all its ugly glory. WHYWOULDYOUDOTHAT.trk EDIT: he just did it AGAIN. this time, he didn't even attack the enemy, just me. Straight up. Go into instant action, \ menu, F1 flight, engage bandits. He lights you right up.

Anyone else think the new AFM missiles are broken?
Shein replied to Shein's topic in Bugs and Problems
against AI and what was the aspect when you fired that missile? if you exceed the missile seeker's gimble limits it won't reacquire. Actually its a really effective evasion technique... -
I'd like to add something, I was a huge fan of gun fighting in FC2 so naturally the first thing I did in FC3 was some gun fighting. It seems either armor on aircraft has been beefed up or the gun has been nerfed down... I'm not sure which. But I actually *ran out of ammo* trying to kill just 3 mig29's while in an F-15. And I only killed 1, the other 2 were hit but still combat effective. I left them for dead but they kept coming... In FC2 I was able to kill 4-7 before running out depending on how lucky I got. and by kill I mean kill: crippled or hit bad enough to warrant an ejection; a smattering of bullets would almost always cripple an engine, tear off a wing, kill a pilot, or at least take the fighter out of the picture as a threat. A little dab'll do ya so they say. Now in FC3 it seems like it takes 1/4 to 1/3 of my ammo to achieve the same effect (airframe damage, engine damage, anything bad enough to make them eject) I'm pretty sure it's the F-15's gun, as a su-27 also took quite a beating to go down, but I dont know if other a/c's guns are equally as weak; sadly the F-15 is the only one I'm really intimate with. I can post a track if you require further info (or you wanna see my maddddd dogfighting skills)

well thats what I'm talking about; if its right then its not a bug! i dont care about making it 'easy' or 'hard' i care about it being realistic! -

Ages ago? how? when this was only released a few days ago?! I did do a search I promise! I couldn't find anything on missiles bleeding speed too quick...
