  1. Yeah I play with labels. I'm not good enough to not use them yet, so bear with me. Playing the HQ interdiction mission during the campaign, I managed to successfully get behind enemy lines to where the HQ should have been but I was unable to find it. Flying over the area, pausing the game, turning the cockpit off, and zooming in (Very unsportsman like, even for a label user ;) ) I found... some trucks! but they didn't have labels! after blowing one of them up, the labels for all of them miraculously turned on! My question is, yes I know its cheating, but is there a way to have all the labels on all the time?? I promise I'll stop using them when I get good enough :smilewink:
  2. Whoa. I gotta try this... thanks!
  3. There definitely are flukes from time to time. And the odd heli bringing down a fixed wing is enough to make them think twice, and thats enough for me ;)
  4. Ah crap, yeah I didn't think about that... Hmmm How hard of a mod could it be to make, then? ;)
  5. I'll be graduating ERAU in may with a BS in aeronautical science... the pilots degree, not engineering... but all my roommates are engineers so I'm well aware of how much I'm lied to ;) Yes, I know lift isnt real.
  6. I go to school down in FL at Embry Riddle Aeronautical, we have a normobaric chamber that simulates high altitudes without the pressure via O2 scrubbers. On my 22nd birthday I gave it a shot, blacked out after 3:27 seconds. Scary stuff, lemme tell you if you've never experienced it. My friend caught it on camera too!
  7. I'll never forget the time I managed to down a SU-25. He was coming right at me and I scored a direct hit with a vhiker. He got off a R-22 or something, hit me, and I survived somehow but I was tickled pink. Like, bouncing off the walls I SHOT DOWN A FROGFOOT OMG! So later I tried it on the A10, hit him, was all excited until I noticed he wasn't even scratched. Gau-7 made short work of me after that....
  8. Not to threadjack, but along the same lines I'd like to see better modeling for killed pilots. I know they show a little blood on the canopy for exterior view and on the HIND I know the pilot will slump over the controls when killed but I always thought it was a neat concept, ever since I shot the pilot of a HIND with the cannon once. I guess bottom line is more noticeable cues when the pilot of an aircraft has been killed?
  9. I was under the impression that pressing the trimmer with the altitude autopilot channel engaged was the same as selecting a new altitude to hold... is there a separate command for the collective brake?! What about with flight director turned on, will it still hold altitude?
  10. See I always thought the cockpit looked wolf like, and the coaxial configuration is just so... mutated looking, I dont know the werewolf name always seemed fitting to me. Maybe the game I played as a kid just hard wired it into me.
  11. yeahhhh I was afraid of that...
  12. When I was a kid growing up I played Comanche CD-ROM. In that game, the KA-50 was consistently referred to as the "Werewolf." I'm rather fond of the name, so much so that I even renamed my DCS shortcut to DCS Werewolf instead of black shark. I know the black shark is the official nickname of it now, but where do you guys stand? does anyone else miss the Werewolf name? Figured I'd make a poll and see...
  13. Turbofans can get up there, but turbojets not so much... maybe I'm thinking of thrust specific fuel consumption? its been a year or so now since I took turbines... I do know for a fact that turbine engines as a whole are the least efficient engine. Guess what the most efficient is? Electric. They're in the 85-90% range.
  14. It is the turbine blades. Turbine engines are only 11-14% efficient. If someone could make a turbine that melted at even 200 or 300 degrees hotter, we could drastically improve the performance and efficiency of these engines. They've done experiments with coating the turbine blades in ceramics but they're just too damn fragile and brittle. Also, +1 to what everyone said about air density being greater at colder temperatures :)
  15. Funny, I'm the exact opposite: Ive been flying the werewolf for a long time and just started the A10. I can fly the werewolf great, but I can't make a serviceable aircraft out of the A10! I know all the systems, I have a HOTAS, I know the procedures but I just need practice. As for KA-50 tactics, remember any attack helicopter is a SNIPER first and foremost. It is made to outrange and hide during engagements. If you're inside your enemy's engagement zone, then have cover. Pop up, shoot, (yeah it does suck the vikhrs arnt FAF) and get back behind cover. Hope that helps!
  16. Yeah I think you're right. Im satisfied, in any case... I downloaded SFJackBauer's A10 profile, it only has the mini stick assigned so it works for slewing the shkval perfectly. The rest of the buttons I assigned in game...
  17. Yeah, I just figured out how the diagonal works from an A-10 profile I downloaded last night, but is there a way to vary the speed with how far you press the mini stick?
  18. So I've read this thread top to bottom http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.ph...light=x52+slew Its rather old though, my question is, is there a way to use the mini stick to slew the shkval, even diagonally? and with increased speed the farther I push the stick?? If I have to stick to only up down left and right, and one speed, tell me so but if theres a workaround Id like to know it. Thanks!

  20. This is *exactly* what I was looking for. Just got an X-52 for christmas... bravo!
  21. my gf scored me an x52 for 60 bucks... they're not THAT expensive... a high end joystick goes that for that much!
  22. you think the A-10 is bad? try trimming the KA-50, then we'll talk ;)
  23. Actually, don't apologize because I was kind of being sarcastic! while turning it off does hide it in no cockpit view, it does unfortunately turn it off and if you want it back, you'll have to let it boot up and all that... on the other hand, if you know your flight plan, the PVI-800 doesnt communicate with the ABRIS so you can use that for navigation and not need the abris... I was raised on garmin G1000's though so I'm helpless without it... but its up to you!
  24. How? I was kicked off when I attempted this...
