For me the T-rudders are the ones I keep going back to.That said they aren't perfect.More tension would work for me and the lack of toe brakes makes me sad as you really need them to even take off in some WW2 birds. Someone needs to try Ruddo rudder pedals. They look amazing but the only people that buy them are civilian sim pilots.

OMG I was about to order a CM2.No thanks man,I am not gonna file stuff down to make it feel symetrical at high tensions.I will now gladly stick with my warbrd ;)

[FIXED] HUD: A picture is worth a thousand words?
wolfstriked replied to randomTOTEN's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
This is why IMO cockpits should not be made to scale.A larger frame for combiner glass and no headaches.I have the same issue with sim makers and their insistence on German right eye reticules being in their proper place in cockpit. IMO two sights could be made, one for the true diehards where the head position is moved right and one for people who can live with a cockpit that is not 100% accurate to relieve some of the issues that not having two eye points causes. IMO=in my opinion  -
Why is there no real adverse yaw?

Even better with the arrow keys on keyboard for bank left and right. -
Yeah I know and I was like PFFFFT trim with rudder LOL they crazy!!

Yeah I just don't feel it.The sim that I have where you really do feel it just makes flight more fun.But if you guys say this is correctly modeled then what can I add here.I still love the P-51 don't get me wrong. -

Ahh I see thanks guys. Now pluuuueeeeeze make the A8 come to steam a little faster.I know I can just convert to ED system instead but I find Steam so convenient in how it all works that I just like to keep it going. -
I don't listen:cry: After watching a P-51 pilot using mainly rudder trim I test this in the DCS P-51 and voila it trims so nice!

I dont see it listed on axis assign page.No axis needed anyway as its got three stages to it so its like 3 buttons.

2:45 He banks the plane and it visually makes the nose rise up.I dont notice any pitch input by pilot either. -

I did not know that plane developers do their own FM also.I always thought this was all done by ED.How can I tell which planes are built by ED? -

Been looking this up and for example frise type ailerons were used on spitfire.Basically the aileron hinge protrudes downwards to balance the drag. https://ww2aircraft.net/forum/attachments/frise-jpg.360662/ P-51 though doesn't seem to have this from what I gather online. In game model has normal ailerons also.So maybe its missing in P-51? I do love adverse yaw effects and feel it adds a bunch to the fun of flight is why I am asking.:pilotfly: -

Yes the ball moves ever so slightly to point that when I do add rudder to center the ball its just a touch. But the plane itself doesn't behave properly. Try it with just the keyboard arrow keys to bank left and right while watching the horizon and you will see no adverse yaw. -- -
:music_whistling: I am not singling out DCS as every other sim I fly doesn't seem to model this either.Or am I mistaken and planes do not adverse yaw as much as I assume? This video shows what adverse yaw is but in a DCS warbird the nose of plane drops below horizon when I bank the plane.

I love using slight flaps to keep her level but what I really love is when you go full flaps you feel like your flying a WW1 bird. The lift is so strong you can feel it and I always envisioned flaps working like this but this is first sim that made that impression for me. :)

Yeah I remember turning that setting off but for the life of me I cant find it anymore.I dont think it modeled Gforces though as you place in cockpit slid side to side as you banked the plane but there was no movement when pulling G's.
-
Yeah it needs work for sure. The A8 has sparked the community alive a bit so I hope that pushes ED a little faster to get going with WW2 stuff.
-
WEP seems to work if you actually keep speed up and engine kool.Thing is being in a constant dive in a dogfight is not good LOL
-
Either I am confused or you are as there is no G force modeled in the sight??The cross hair disappears out of the sight glass from your TrackIR head movements. The Gforce settings in settings only controls blackouts also and does nothing to the behavior of cross hair in the sight.
-
They mimic G's?

I saw the post about the spit and that is nice that they fixed it but it now opens the problem of being too slow.Maybe change it where one press and hold is super slow for fine tuning. To make it go faster you double tap and then hold.Programming change takes time so.....

Pilot head movement in the cockpit
wolfstriked replied to amazingme's topic in DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst
I have done the same where I set a new more forward default in the 109 and that helps a lot. -
Pilot head movement in the cockpit
wolfstriked replied to amazingme's topic in DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst
Wow I guess its a to each their own.I hate the 109 implementation so much that it makes me not fly the plane. The P51 is how I like it......you turn your head and if you wanna look around an object you lean yourself. I am hoping that the A8 is different to the way the 109 head movement is implemented but as things stand its probably different then the 109 and also the p51 I16,Spit..... -
Does anyone know if I can tweak an ini file somewhere to change the amount of stick movement per button press? I find that I need the axis knobs for other stuff and would rather just have trim as nutton presses but again it moves the stick toomuch per each press.

Thanks to whomever suggested this!
