  1. Hi Nate, Here you go. I attached the crash and log files. I saved the track, but when I replayed it, the trk file did not contain the right track. The particular crash happened maybe 5 minutes into playing P51D escort mission (from users files), but as I said in my original message, any mission from the user files I played so far crashes sooner or later, whereas I didn't have any crashes with the previous version of world for the same missions. Let me know if you need anything else. Your help is greatly appreciated. DCS-20120718-004127.zip
  2. I had no problems playing through the user created missions (the ones I've tried, I play A10C and P51D) using the previous version of world. But with the new DCS world 1.2 I get crashes several minutes into all the missions I have tried so far. I can give additional details, but as a first step I would just like to know if I am alone, or if this is a problem other people experience too. It has already been mentioned that the FPS took a serious hit with the new World version... B.t.w. I checked the MD5 check sums, they all checked out... Any help would be greatly appreciated...
  3. What is the new trigger action "radio beacon unit/zone" good for? Can it be used as a navigation aid for DCS Mustang? If so, how? On a related question: Am I right that DCS has not yet released the DCS World GUI manual?
  4. Does anyone have a recipe for achieving the maximum turn rate. Throttle open/closed? Ideal airspeed? Ideal g?
  5. Hi Sobek, Thanks for your answer. Nevertheless I am surprised by what you say. If you are right, why then do the wingmen start their engines exactly when I request "start-up engines" by radio. I must have played Warthog (where it is immediately acknowledged by "2 ready") and Mustang several hundred times, and each time the wingmen start their engines exactly when I request "start-up engines". Seems like an astronomical coincidence to me...
  6. Reporting another bug. In the attached track you will see the following: I request "start-up engine" by radio to ATC, but, by mistake, I forgot to select any radio button. Therefore ATC never gets my request, and never gives me a clear engine start-up. My wingman and flight somehow get the message though, since they start up their engines anyway. That's a bug, right? My previous bug reports were greeted with utter silence. Wouldn't mind some sort of response this time to make sure my messages get forwarded to the relevant people, or, if not, let me know why my reports aren't useful. I'll try to do a better job next time, then.:) FlightShouldntStartEngine.trk
  7. Hi, Just reporting a little bug (see attached track), concerning a flight of 4 P51D. They are in each other's way and won't taxi to the runway. FlightWontTakeOff.trk
  8. Now that I have everything neatly together in DCS world, there is one glaring asymmetry: whereas the P51 and A10 have interactive training modules, the most difficult craft to fly, the Ka50 doesn't. I don't find the presently supplied non-interactive training videos for the Ka50 useful. Therefore, ED, please put together an interactive training session for the Ka50.
  9. I installed the new 1.1.2.1. A10C. Even though I select the mirror option in DCS world, the mirrors appear folded up/stowed away in the cockpit. I thought maybe I can click on them to fold them down, but they appear to not be clickable. How can I fold down the mirrors in the new A10C sim?
  10. TM HOTAS profiles for 1.1.2.1 beta I read in this thread that I shouldn't import my Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS stick and throttle profiles from 1.1.1.1. True? If so, does anyone have profiles for the new 1.1.2.1.?
  11. When I use ATC to guide me to the airport where I am going to land and when I use a military overhead pattern, I get a "runway occupied go around" as I overfly the airport in the upwind leg, even though I am the only aircraft in the mission. Presumably this happens because DCS mistakes my own airplane as a second airplane that is already close to the airstrip.
  12. In the meantime I am successful at keeping the Mustang on the runway for take-off, but, even after a relatively smooth touchdown, the pony will sooner or later start to slew off the runway, and my attempts to correct it almost always lead to a ground loop, and my plane lying upside down and on fire on the grass. What's the trick to controlling the bird after touch down? Should the rudder trim be set to a specific setting? Do you reduce the throttle quickly or slowly after touch down?
  13. If I use the mission editor to set two different frequencies (in my case an ATC and AWACS), depending on which frequency I use first during the mission, the other frequency becomes inoperable (not set to the proper frequency). When I recheck the mission editor after completing the mission, I find that all frequencies other than the one I used first got reset to 100 AM. I wonder if someone else had this problem.
  14. This is not so much a bug but rather a suggestion: navigation in the Mustang is tricky compared to the A10 because of the absense of electronic navigation aids. So, I added an AWACS flight to my mission. But when I asked it for my vector to home plate, it gave me coordinates relative to bullseye, which are pretty much useless in the absense of an electronic map, right? My suggestion is that vectors for Mustang pilots should always be given relative to the plane's current coordinates (b.t.w. I am using the latest beta 2.1).
  15. Will this cost me one activation credit? Since there are 10 activation credits per purchase, if every patch requires reinstallation those 10 credits may be soon gone...
  16. installation instructions What are the installation instructions for DCSW1.1.2.1? I already have 1.1.2.0 installed, do I need to uninstall that before installing the new version? Is there a patch file available, or do I have to download the complete 1.1.2.1 installation files?
  17. Since the Mustang does not have an artificial horizon, how do I know how many degrees my nose is above or below the horizon? There is something like a poor man's version of an artificial horizon in the P51D, but it doesn't seem to have a scale for nose inclination... When landing, how do I convince myself that I am on the 3-degree glide path down to the runway?
  18. Last night I looked at the Users Files tab of the digitalcombatseries.com webpage for Mustang missions, and, to my disappointment, didn't find any. Today I found missions in the Missions And Campaigns section of the forum. Just wondering why posting missions under User Files is not the preferred method any more...
  19. FlightAce, thanks for your reply. I play mostly SP. Which lua files should I have a look at (you mentioned some lua files)? Is there a way to modify the aircraft labels? I think leaving the red dot would be a reasonable compromise to make aircraft visible, but removing the name of the aircraft and the range label.
  20. Am I right in saying that visual detection of enemy aircraft is virtually impossible (probably because of limitations in screen resolution), and there aren't any other detection methods other than visual, right? Any tips/tricks (other than using labels, which is cheating, right?)
  21. Hi, With the new Mustang simulation, since the aircraft is more "primitive", I find that intuitive flying (rather than instrument flying) has become more important. My feeling has been that the most important deficit of a computer simulator compared to real life is that the computer doesn't make you feel acceleration. If, in real life, the plane accellerates, we feel it in our stomach, or get jerked left and right, while on the computer we need to deduce it by looking at abstract instruments, and by then the appropriate control input may be too late. I could envision a more intuitive system, where, e.g. if you pull positive g, a bright, easily visible, bar appears at the bottom of the screen, and if we need to apply right rudder because we are skiding, a bright bar appears on the left side of the screen. I hope I am making sense. Does anybody know of a software that achieves something like this in combination with DCS simulations?
  22. rudder too touchy Hi, I have big trouble giving fine enough input to the rudder, and often end up in the grass upside down when trying to take off. One problem is that my rudder is too sticky, and once I overcome the initial friction, I usually overapply the rudder. I use a curvature of 22 for the rudder. I use a Saitek Pro Flight Rudder at minimum friction setting. Does anybody have any tips for a better rudder input controller, or how to improve the performance of the Saitek rudder. Any other tricks/tips?
  23. Dear forum, In my desparation I will try to find an answer to my problem one more time. My problem is that as I design missions, and they grow in complexity, suddenly, from a certain complexity on, I get zero points for flying the mission and zero logged time no matter what I do (see start of thread). I have now narrowed down the problem some more: As I add .wav files to the mission one by one, suddenly the time it takes to save the mission file jumps noticably. When I unzip the .miz file I see that the file format has changed, and it now contains sub-directories, called "Config", "Scripts", "track" and "track-data", whereas prior to the increase in complexity of the mission it did not contain any subdirectories. It is precisely from the moment the subdirectories get created, that I start to get zero points and zero logged time for my missions. Deleting these subdirectories, or deleting elements from the mission does not help unfortunately, once this strange effect occurs there seems to be no way to undo it. Anyone, help please :helpsmilie:
  24. I want to start looking into using lua scripts in a mission. Does anybody have or know of a simple (the simpler the better, makes it easier for me to learn from) mission that uses lua script in the "condition (lua expression)" or "run script" fields of the ME. Ideally the mission should be simple but do something useful that would not be possible without using lua script. Any help would be appreciated!:helpsmilie:
  25. Hi Cholerix, You make an interesting point. I replayed one mission where I do get the correct score, and one mission where I get zero score even though the score card I can display during the mission gives me a non-zero score. I compared the various log files between the two, but there are so many lines I can't make much sense of it. One thing I noticed, though, is that the file me.log for the non-zero score mission contains the lines 06503.063 DEBUG main: flight hours, sec 3382 [night, sec: 0 day, sec: 3382] 06503.063 DEBUG main: hours: 15.276991666667 06504.887 DEBUG main: mission score 40 whereas the me.log file for the zero score mission does not contain such lines. I guess what I am saying is: what do I need to pay attention to in the log files to sort out the reason why I get no score in some missions?
