I have troubles using late activation of enemy planes. Don't think I ever had the problem before. Example mission is attached, on my computer the red P51D never activates. What am I doing wrong, or is this a bug? I use Version 1.2.1.6192 test.miz

Does that mean it can now follow also the player aircraft, instead of only AI on AI?

I've had the mustang for months, and did exactly what you said. Map RPM to left throttle. Works perfectly...

Ah, I see. Thanks for the reply!

I am trying to achieve a very simple thing using the mission editor. My flight of P51Ds takes off from the ramp. A C130 follows me around whereever I fly. But I can't get it to work. If I use "follow" and set the unit to follow as my group, the C130s don't follow me. I tried late activition and/or "follow" as a triggered action that gets activated after I am airborne. No joy.. Since there is no GUI manual out there (right?), it is difficult to figure out how to use the follow command. I attached the simplest version of my mission. Maybe someone can look at it, or put together a simple mission that shows me how to use the follow command. NavigationMission.miz

First off, I love DCS mustang. But it is a little disappointing that no non-US opponent fighter is included in the final release. Maybe we will have some third parties develop opponent AI aircrafts, should be much easier than making a flyable aircraft. I'd certainly be willing to pay for that (a little at least)

High.lua is located in C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Config\terrain. At least that's where it is on my computer...
-
I am probably stating the obvious here. But isn't it natural that we get lower FPS with World 1.2.1 now that the "high" settings in "High.lua" have changed from distance10x10 = 30000 distanceLevel0 = 18000 to distance10x10 = 60000.0; distanceLevel0 = 38000.0; The terrain is now much more detailed to a further distance, FPS must naturally drop. Set it back to the old values, and you should be back to normal FPS. What am I missing?

Version ...6055 works much better for me than the previous version. Most of the annoying stutters appear to be gone...

Hi Mustang, Exchanging the lua file seems to have fixed the problem for me. Curious to find out if it worked for others too. Nice work, Mustang!

Hi Mustang, Yes, I run the sim at high scenes and textures, all settings high (which is also what I used for version 1.2.0) I noticed a significant drop in FPS, and what's worse, a long stutter about every couple of seconds or so... Hope that gets fixed soon. Good thing we have the auto updater now...

On my system, which as I pointed out in my previous reply, doesn't have all that great a graphics card, I could run the stand alone version of A-10C with all settings at max, and still get 20fps+ on the ground and 30 fps+ in the air. Many people state that the performance went down with DCS world. My experience was different, the first version of DCS world ran just fine, but the most recent one (DCSW 1.2) is when I noticed a severe drop in fps and increased number of crashes. May have to do with the new grass or new routines needed for CA, not sure though...

I myself also have a GTX560ti and have been thinking about upgrading to the GTX680. Good idea? I am not much of a computer expert, so I have a couple of questions: When I search for a GTX 680 card online, I get GTX cards from Nvidia, ASUS, EVGA, and many more. Are they all the same product, or a different product that happens to have the same type name (GTX 680)? Or is it different manufacturers making essentially the same card? When I update to the new card, do I simply order it online, and when it arrives do I simply unplug the old card and insert the new one, or is it more complicated than that. Do I need to make sure my computer has the proper specs to handle the new card (e.g. power supply)? Probably silly questions, but unfortunately I do not know that much about computers...

For those of us who don't have a force feedback stick, wouldn't it be useful if there was the possibility to have a little display that indicates the force on the stick, similar to RCTRL Enter which shows the control inputs. Would be useful for trimming... Anybody agree? Or is there already such an option?

Hi Grimes, Thanks for your reply. I only exited to the main menu. I'll try exiting the sim altogether the next time I encounter this situation...

When I accidentally delete a unit from a mission, and exit the mission editor without saving the unwanted changes, the mission editor still saves it, and when I open the mission the next time it includes the unwanted changes that I didn't want to save. In other words, when I exit the mission editor it always saves the most recent changes, no matter what option (save or not) I click on in the dialog box that asks if I want to save the latest changes. This is not an issue with a particular mission, but happens always. Anybody else have this issue, or is it only my install? B.t.w. I have always had this issue, from the Warthog stand alone version to the most recent DCS world. It is rather annoying, since there is no way to undo an unwanted action... Help!

I find knowing where in the world you are one of the more challenging things in DCS-P51D. I found sections in the manual describing homing and ranging radios. These sections are very brief and end in a statement saying they are not implemented in this simulation. Why not? I guess those radios is what the guys used back in the day to find their way around, right? Would be mighty useful in this sim, too. Does anybody know why they are not implemented, and if there are any plans to implement them? Same question applies to the IFF radio...

Regarding the barrel roll: one of you said to give it (e.g.) left aileron and some elevator up. The amount of elevator up should be chosen to keep a constant angle of attack (AoA). How do I assess my AoA, there isn't an instrument to display that, right?

Thanks guys! I'll try all your suggestions tonight after work...

Does anyone have/know of youtube tutorials that teach you how to perform various aerobatic maneuvers in a P51? Ideal would be a tutorial that for each maneuver tells what you have to do to stick, rudder and airspeed...

No, I don't overclock... Your post made me curious though: If I wanted to try overclocking, what procedure/software do you recommend?

Hi Nate, I attached my DXDIAG report. I didn't do that right after the crash, but just now when I read you reply. Hope that's OK. I use windows 7 home 64 bit. DxDiag.txt

Hi Nate (or any other moderator), Can you at least tell me whether the logs I attached are useful, so I can submit a ticket. Generally I love DCS products, but I have to say world 1.2 has been a nightmare so far in terms of crashes and FPS...

Hi Grimes, What probably happened is the following. First I tried to reimport my P51D contol setting of the previous world version, but I accidentally imported the A10C settings. Noticing my mistake, I cleared all the columns. But apparently all the control options of the A10C remained in the list as empty fields. Still a bug, isn't it? I am not absolutely postive if all the A10C fields where there before my erroneous import, but I would assume that's what explains the difference between your install and mine. If you have some extra time, you can try this out. Not a big thing, but I thought it might be useful to report even small bugs...

As we need to delete the saved games folder before installing world 1.2, I had to reenter all the control options. That's when I noticed that, e.g. if you select P51D real, that all the options for the A10C also appear. There is no point in listing keyboard commands for the CDU, if there is no CDU in a P51D. Only switches that exist in the cockpit of the selected airplane should show up in the controls menu, right? Also, some switches appear twice, e.g. landing gear up/down. Please change that in the next patch, please.
