I figured out how to assign a button for a glance in the left and right mirror, "left mirror on" and "right mirror on", respectively. But I can't find the corresponding option for the top, i.e. rear-view mirror.:helpsmilie:

Hi Python, Are you using the latest World version? I think taxiing has become easier in the later version of DCS world/P51. I think the key to nice and controlled turning with the stick forward is the right taxiing speed. You can first try turning at a very low speed, and as you use differential braking the aircraft will come to a stop without turning much, and the tail wheel may be left in an awkward position. If you are too fast, differential braking will lead to ground looping. Somewhere in the middle is the right speed. That's at least what works for me. If that doesn't work, you can always use differential braking with the stick pulled back, that should be very easy to controll.

ORDERD!

I made Peter's center-detent modification today. I recommend it, makes rudder fine controll much better. However, instead of the advertised 30 mins, it took me several hours, for the following reason (I post this so that other people won't have to go through this pain in the butt): As you fiddle around and work away on the levers etc. of your rudder, it can easily happen (happened to me) that the gear marked in the attached picture jumps by a tooth or so. The consequence of this is that the calibration of your rudder will be off-center (and I was looking for hours for a software fix to recalibrate the pedal, which is not possible...) B.t.w. I called Saitek, and they claim that the warranty will be null amnd void once you open the unit. That's at least what the guy on the phone claimed.

I have the same problem, too, on a laptop PC:(

I have lowered the mount of my Warthog to accomodate the stick extension. Now I am just waiting for you to finish the webpage, or the world to end, whichever comes first:)
-
Presently I have the large base plate of my Warthog mounted at about desk height (actually a little lower). With the extension, the base plate would probably have to move below my legs, i.e. to about chair height. Therefore, I would think the length of the extension should be roughly equal to the difference between desk height and chair height. Does my calculation make sense. How do people mount their Warthog base at roughly chair height? Thanks in advance for any tips.

me want! What is the recommended length? Keep us updated and let us know when we can place the order...

set flaps for p51 like A10 on TM hotas
wolle replied to LNR212's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I don't think it is, since the flaps on the P51D have 5 positions... What I do is to use the flaps up switch on the TM Warthog as a momentary switch that raises the flaps by one unit, and the flap down switch as a momentary switch to lower the flaps by one unit, whereas the flaps switch in the A10 take-off (middle) position is idle, i.e. the flaps stay in the position they are in. -
I apologize in advance for my probably ignorant opinion (I am not a software engineer or anything like that), but I have never understood why DCS is not multithreaded. There are so many tasks that could easily be run in parallel, because they are completely independent of each other and require no or very little exchange of data. Take as an example the calculation of aerodynamic forces for independent units, such as player and AI aircraft, the forces on one unit does not depend on that on another. Or moving ground force AI units around, and so on. As I said, just a layman's opinion...
-
Must have missed that update. How do you place a civial audience using the mission editor? The only dudes I found amongst the ME units is infantry...

Grimes, I can see your point. But the problem is the following: say you want a formation of 3 large airplanes. So, you make #2 and #3 follow #1. But say #1 gets shot down, who will they follow? Or #2 gets shot down, then #1. You have to treat all possible permutations, which becomes untractable pretty quickly. The same problem arises if you want the formation to follow a triggered action. Do you apply the trigger to #1? But what if it get's shot down before the trigger. Again you'll have to program triggers for all possible permutations, which, as you know, grows as the factorial of the number of airplanes...

I think this has been discussed before, but I couldn't find the thread. Large airplanes can only have one unit per group, right? Why is that, what's the difference between large and small planes? Being able to have more than one plane/group would make it much easier to have bomber formations, e.g. Can't think of a possible reason why big planes are limited to one unit per group...

Would be nice if there were some on-line training classes (maybe similar to what was recently done for flying the hog, by Tyger I think). Then more people (including myself) would be able to learn how to put together nice missions and campaigns. With all the lua and mist, the ME is getting pretty complicated...
-
Could you post a track please, so that we can see how it is done (seeing it is easier than reading it...) That would be great, thanks.

Hi, Does anybody know if the cockpit arguments for the P51D have been published anyware? For the A10C, you can use the state of cockpit displays and switches to trigger actions. Is that possible with the P51D?
-
Is this possible, can you request the ground crew to do that in DCS? If not, would be a nice feature to add in the future, with an animation of the ground crew visible from the cockpit.

Virtual Patriots - L-39 External Test In DCS World

why don't you have your own third-party sub-forum Amazing pictures. Quick question: why don't you have your own third-party sub-forum? Would make it easier to follow your progress... -
Hi Yo-Yo, From your experience, how much variation in flying skill is there between different skill settings, between Excellent and Average? For the Average skill setting, I would like to have a near-sighted pilot, who is drunk and easily gets motion-sickness, so that he cannot do any fast maneuvers. This will help people like me learn dog-fighting in steps, rather than having to do everything near-perfectly to shoot down the AI.
-
I found that depressing the rudder pedals VERY slowly allows me to reliably loosen the parking break.
-
What skill setting do you use for the AI, average, good, ...? I always set them to average (the lowest setting), and still can't shoot them down. I think ED should make the lowest skill setting very easy to beat, and for those who want a challenge, they can make the excellent AI perfect...
-
You are kidding, so I have been doing this wrong for years  Well, I guess it's better to find out late than never...
-
When I push the left pedal forward, I expect the rudder to move right, and the plane to yaw right. Or have I been doing this wrong all these years...
-
Yes, the rudder, as viewed from the external view, and judging from the response of the aircraft during flight is moving properly. Maybe it has something to do with the following: For some reason, I have to click "inverted" (or something like that), when I set up all the axes for my saitek rudder pedals, i.e. if I give rudder left, and I don't click inverted on the saitek rudder setup (in options->controlls->axes), it will give right rudder. Same holds for toe-breaks. Maybe the simulation of the rudder itself picks up that I use the inverted option, but the in-cockpit rudder animation doesn't. Just a theory... See attached screenshots, both are for full right rudder input
-
In my P51D cockpit the animation of the rudder pedals is reversed. E.g. as I push in the left pedal, the animation shows the left pedal coming out towards me, and the right pedal being pushed in. Anybody else noticed that? I use the latest update as of today.
