Grimes, I can see your point. But the problem is the following: say you want a formation of 3 large airplanes. So, you make #2 and #3 follow #1. But say #1 gets shot down, who will they follow? Or #2 gets shot down, then #1. You have to treat all possible permutations, which becomes untractable pretty quickly. The same problem arises if you want the formation to follow a triggered action. Do you apply the trigger to #1? But what if it get's shot down before the trigger. Again you'll have to program triggers for all possible permutations, which, as you know, grows as the factorial of the number of airplanes...

I think this has been discussed before, but I couldn't find the thread. Large airplanes can only have one unit per group, right? Why is that, what's the difference between large and small planes? Being able to have more than one plane/group would make it much easier to have bomber formations, e.g. Can't think of a possible reason why big planes are limited to one unit per group...

Would be nice if there were some on-line training classes (maybe similar to what was recently done for flying the hog, by Tyger I think). Then more people (including myself) would be able to learn how to put together nice missions and campaigns. With all the lua and mist, the ME is getting pretty complicated...

Could you post a track please, so that we can see how it is done (seeing it is easier than reading it...) That would be great, thanks.

Hi, Does anybody know if the cockpit arguments for the P51D have been published anyware? For the A10C, you can use the state of cockpit displays and switches to trigger actions. Is that possible with the P51D?
-
Is this possible, can you request the ground crew to do that in DCS? If not, would be a nice feature to add in the future, with an animation of the ground crew visible from the cockpit.

why don't you have your own third-party sub-forum Amazing pictures. Quick question: why don't you have your own third-party sub-forum? Would make it easier to follow your progress... -
Hi Yo-Yo, From your experience, how much variation in flying skill is there between different skill settings, between Excellent and Average? For the Average skill setting, I would like to have a near-sighted pilot, who is drunk and easily gets motion-sickness, so that he cannot do any fast maneuvers. This will help people like me learn dog-fighting in steps, rather than having to do everything near-perfectly to shoot down the AI.
-
I found that depressing the rudder pedals VERY slowly allows me to reliably loosen the parking break.
-
What skill setting do you use for the AI, average, good, ...? I always set them to average (the lowest setting), and still can't shoot them down. I think ED should make the lowest skill setting very easy to beat, and for those who want a challenge, they can make the excellent AI perfect...
-
You are kidding, so I have been doing this wrong for years  Well, I guess it's better to find out late than never...
-
When I push the left pedal forward, I expect the rudder to move right, and the plane to yaw right. Or have I been doing this wrong all these years...
-
Yes, the rudder, as viewed from the external view, and judging from the response of the aircraft during flight is moving properly. Maybe it has something to do with the following: For some reason, I have to click "inverted" (or something like that), when I set up all the axes for my saitek rudder pedals, i.e. if I give rudder left, and I don't click inverted on the saitek rudder setup (in options->controlls->axes), it will give right rudder. Same holds for toe-breaks. Maybe the simulation of the rudder itself picks up that I use the inverted option, but the in-cockpit rudder animation doesn't. Just a theory... See attached screenshots, both are for full right rudder input
-
In my P51D cockpit the animation of the rudder pedals is reversed. E.g. as I push in the left pedal, the animation shows the left pedal coming out towards me, and the right pedal being pushed in. Anybody else noticed that? I use the latest update as of today.

Has follow AI now been implemented? Seems to me that the follow command now works with player aircraft (version 1.2.2), is that correct?
-
Awesome, I'll buy the beta version as soon as it is out!

Here is the screen shot that was requested. The interesting question is what values will the program assume for auto-rudder and take-off assistence in the absence of these? Will do some flight testing tonight, but now I have to go to work:( By the way, I used the autoupdater.
-
I found it is much easier to take off with version 1.2.2. Maybe that's why the auto-rudder and take-off assistance options have disppeared in version 1.2.2., right? Does anybody else have that experience.

There is no FC3 tab in training. Just to make sure: we are taking about the training option in the main menu of DCS world, right? Is there something wrong with my installation. BTW I understand that there are scrolling arrows that bring more airplane selections into view, I have A1-10, Ka-50, P-51 and SU-25 options, but no FC3... (and yes, I have FC3 installed, I can e.g. load the campaign for the F15C, but can't get very far, since I don't know how to start up the bird... Anybody else have this problem?
-
Hi, I see that the F15 sim doesn't have training. How do I learn the F15? Any help would be appreciated.
-
I use ATC stations along the way. Call inbound and they will give you the vector to the airfield, you can also request azimuth on a regular basis. Then aboard landing, and fly to the next ATC. Maybe this is cheating...? And the method works only in friendly territory...
-
Great news!!!
-
I use high settings for everything, 4x antialiasing, mirrors and tree shadows off.
-
What if the lead unit (the one they are supposed to follow) gets shot down, will the other planes just wander around aimlessly?
-
There is no "escort" advanced waypoint action for P51D, only "follow". The P51D being the primere escort fighter of WW2, I think "escort" should be added. Who agrees/or not?
