just made my first landing without losing any part of my plane! quitting while ahead, night all!!

Auto-rudder is off. part of my trouble I think is landing with stick back. I'm trying now to set elev trim so i can land with stick in the centre. landings are slowly getting better as a result, i now snake much further down the r/w :)

For me, setting down on the runway is not a problem - it's the over or under correction of the rudder as I try to keep things on the straight and narrow after touchdown. I can't avoid the sudden and violent swing that leaves me going slightly sideways before ripping off part of my wing. I guess I just need more practice :) I get the argument that in RL pilots can 'feel' the g effect caused by such a shift in direction, and can perhaps predict or correct it quicker. Is there a way this can be added to the sim to help those of us simply stuck to a static chair and desk? Maybe some kind of cues, like small arrows that appear in the corners of the screen, whose size is relative to the g? Just a thought.

The stock F-15C missions put me in an airborne MiG-29, and SU-25 so it's not just the wrong plane, it's also wrong location and altitude :)

On second thoughts, at only 2ft from it, it may cause a bit of dizzyness....

How did this work out in the end for you? I'm considering a new monitor, at around 32" and unsure if I should stay 1080p and suffer lower quality, or go 1440p and suffer lower performance or settings. I too have 2GB GTX670 in my setup which I hope not to upgrade. I also fly Cliffs of Dover and Falcon BMS mostly.

With reference to my thread at http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=129727 I haven't considered a TV because though I want larger screen real estate, I'm worried that 1080p at sizes 30" and higher will make the HUD text look rubbish. I've been watching HD vids of DCS on youtube on my 47" Panasonic and am not too impressed. Maybe I'm just being too fussy. However the flip side, is I know my GTX 670 has no probs at 1080p for FPS. If I go 1440p or 4K (downscaled to 2K) I reckon I can expect a 20-30% drop.

Let me explain, I'm not ready to upgrade the graphics yet so I will not be running it at 4k resolution. I was looking at a Dell 27" 1440p (aka 2k) but as they are still around the £400 mark in the UK, it seems more economic to buy 4k monitor now and upgrade the graphics card as and when I can.

Yes, it has a DP port so no worries there! Most likely I would never be able run 4k res for DCS though

I've been thinking about upgrading my 23" screen for a while to make DCS and my other sims more immersive. Now 4k monitors have come down in price, and 2k monitors are not much cheaper by comparison, I'm wondering if it may be worth considering a reasonable 4k monitor. My local store has this one. Interesting, never thought about 21:9 ratio. 34" is pretty massive so in my case an new gfx card would probably be in order

Hi Dok, thanks yes I know all that I'm just saying the boat switch function I have for BMS is good for FC3 too, just it's a bit annoying with the radar going off. It's a minor thing perhaps, but sometimes FC3's playability suits my mood when I can't be bothered with the all the fiddly DCS stuff and this will make a good thing slightly better for me :)

I have a small irritating problem with the Hotas Warthog and FC3 fighters, mainly say F-15C which at present I'm flying the most in FC3 Inspired by my Falcon BMS setup, I have the boat switch mapped to select between BVR mode 2 (fwd), ACM mode 3 (back) and Nav 1 (mid). Each time I go from ACM through Nav to BVR, the radar goes off entering NAV and stays off in BVR. So when switching modes in combat I lose radar and have to press i (mapped to mini stick press) to get radar back. Is there a way to keep radar on until I select it off? Why should radar be off in Nav mode anyway?

I'm starting to think my next upgrade should be a 27" monitor to replace the 23" Samsung 1080p I currently use. I reduced the 'light filter threshold' setting from 200 to 80 after I noticed my TrackIR 5 went crazy one night, try playing with the setting on yours. My issue showed up straight away though, not after starting a new flight again.

I bought it in a sale some time ago (moment of weakness!), but have hardly touched it. I'm not quite sure what to do.
