  1. What FPS are you getting with that monitor and GTX 1070 combo? I'm thinking of upgrading my screen and graphics combo, just want to know if the 1070 is good enough or would a 1080ti be better? Cheers, R
  2. So I've been researching a new GPU for my rig and decided a GTX 1070 8GB is the way to go, and have been keeping an eye on a couple to see how pricing works. Over the last 2 weeks, I've seen the cost of say Asus GTX 1070 Dual OC go from a reasonable £360 to £450! It's a similar story for others too, others are approaching the cost of 1080. I've since read that a craze called "cryptocurrency mining" is to blame - people using mid-range GPUs to make meager profits over long periods on e-currency like Ethereum. This has lead to a high demand in 1070s which has hiked the pricing. Why did this have to happen the week I wanted to buy one?!! Looks like I'll have to delay, and hope the prices come down soon. But now's a good time to upgrade for me, so do I go low with 1060 and save some cash, or get a 1080 which is not as affected by the pricing rise but not as cost effective? I guess AMD are affected too, but I prefer Nvidia having had issues with Radeon drivers in the past. Should I look at AMD options? Anyone else in a similar boat?
  3. Does anyone have any experience of this graphics card with DCS? https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01IF66QAI/ref=asc_df_B01IF66QAI43852003/?tag=pric097-21&creative=22374&creativeASIN=B01IF66QAI&linkCode=df0&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE My current GTX670 is a blower type, a style that I'm happy to stay with as airflow with my case isn't the best and all the heat is blown out by the card.
  4. I assume the auto updater has no problem if you move the installation by cut & paste?
  5. That's great, thanks! What are your other specs and case type? I may go with the blower type as I have that already with my Palit GTX670 and I get decent temps (55C ish) with my I7-3770K at 4.2GHz. I'm a bit concerned open air cooler will raise my temps, so just keen to know! Thanks mate
  6. Thanks Patersonski, just returning to this thread and I see your post - thanks for the offer. I'm hoping to get this card soon, followed by either a 1440p or 4K monitor depending on reviews and budget. Have a 27" 1080p at present, so I'm expecting a solid 60fps on max settings. What monitor do you use, and what fps do you get in say Nevada A-10C CAS instant action mission? I currently get between 30-50 with terrain textures on low, every thing else high. Thanks, R
  7. Hi razo+r, do you have Asus GeForce GTX 1070 Dual OC 8GB? https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=187672
  8. Thanks schroedi, do have have this card yourself? When you say slot next to GFX card, you mean below right? I have P8Z77-V Pro/Thunderbolt, with a PCI-E Wifi adapter in the PCI-E x1 slot above the Gfx card. Looks like that will be fine with the Dual OC, as there's no armour over the PCB on the non-fan side, same as my current card.
  9. I too lose a lot of FPS in the Spitfire when the prop is in view, slows to <25fps with lots of stutter during the instant action dogfight mission -whereas P-51 and Dora are fine with a lot of fighters in the air - FPS high enough for me to not care about FPS! My rig isn't the most modern by today's standards, but it still performs well enough in all other DCS modules, jets especially, at 1080p. Hopefully this will be fixed. They fixed the FPS drop in the P-51 when the guns are fired, so I'm sure they'll sort this too.
  10. Thanks for the tip BIGNEWY, I'd forgotten about Aria
  11. Option 1 looks nice but has no storage drive, that 250GB SSD will soon fill up if you load the sims you like and several DCS modules. Add at least a 1TB HDD, like the one in option 2 perhaps. You could always go with option 1 (plus HDD) and use the money left in your budget towards a 1440p or 4k monitor if you don't have one already, or maybe new HOTAS perhaps? I got my rig from PC Specialist in the UK, was very happy with their service and rig still going strong after 4 years! I had to RMA the cooler after the first few months, they sent a replacement no fuss. Would recommend them.
  12. When I get round to upgrading my GTX670, which to be fair still performs pretty well even in NTTR on my 1080p monitor (getting 70-100 fps on the A-10C IA missions, 25-30 over Vegas), I reckon it will be this one I'll go for... http://www.ebuyer.com/753823-asus-geforce-gtx-1070-dual-oc-8gb-gddr5-dvi-d-hdmi-2x-displayport-dual-gtx1070-o8g It will fit nicely in my Fractal R4 and seems OK generally. Anyone got one for comment? I'm not into OC all my clocks are stock
  13. I'm interested in upgrading my GTX670 and Acer 27" 1080p (which I'm happy with for DCS 1.5) for GTX1070 and curved 34" 3440x1440, when funds allow.
  14. Thanks guys! Appreciate the replies
  15. What about this one for example? http://www.ebuyer.com/750750-msi-geforce-gtx-1070-armor-8g-oc-dual-link-dvi-d-hdmi-3x-displayport-gtx-1070-armor-8g-oc
  16. I'm thinking to replace my aged Palit GTX670 with a GTX1070, but which one should I go with? There's so many to choose! Can anyone recommend a particular make/model for use with DCS with a view to upgrading monitor to 1440p, and maybe dabbling with Oculus Rift one day ;)
  17. Thanks, I did that last week! Just forgot to update my signature
  18. Thanks guys. Thinking of going with a GTX 980 so I can go 1440p sometime too. I might try DCS 2 + NTTR anyway with my setup just to try. Is DCS 2 alpha standalone?
  19. It's on the minimum and below the recommended spec, but are there any other GTX 670 users out there running DCS 2.0 Alpha and Nevada? How's it running? Currently with my setup I'm getting very nice FPS in DCS 1.5 at 1080p.
  20. decided to go with the HyperX in my OP. I know 1866 works well on my system as it is, no OC on any components and as long as I continue to hit over 60 fps then I 'm happy :)
  21. So if I went with this http://www.dabs.com/products/kingston-hyperx-savage-16gb--2x8gb--2400mhz-ddr3-non-ecc-cl11-dimm-kit-of-2-xmp-hx324c11srk2-16-9QN9.html?q=HX324C11SRK2%2F16&src=16 I guess I just need to set the XMP profile to allow the 2400MHz and though it's CL11, it will be more RAM and quicker too?
  22. I'm looking to replace the 2x4GB RAM sticks I have for 2x8GB for DCS 2.0, but I am a bit lost as to what to upgrade to. The HyperX Genesis I have are CL9, and this seems to be the closest match in 16GB... http://www.dabs.com/products/kingston-hyperx-savage-16gb--2x8gb--1866mhz-ddr3-non-ecc-cl9-dimm-kit-of-2-xmp-hx318c9srk2-16-9QN7.html?refs=58280000-468530000-52290000-56090000&catid=15006&src=3 Also does CL9 or CL10 really make a difference? Kingston also have HyperX fury, which claims to auto overclock but are CL10.
  23. thanks for the education guys!:thumbup:
  24. Just wondering, what is the F-15C "wing rock" feature that's mentioned in the change log? I'm expecting to see the wings wobble under high G, or maybe stores wobbling on pylons. But I don't see either.
  25. I seem to recall reading somewhere, the trick is to get the velocity vector over the target first, then the gun pipper - can anyone confirm?
