Don't get the AMD CPU. And don't even bother installing DCS on a computer without a discrete video card. Intel + nvidia works much better for DCS. Also, get the 4670K so you can overclock it. I think you will be much happier with the first option.

I have seen this for a while now. But in my last multiplayer session, it happen three times in a row! Whenever you fire a missile at someone, and it damages to the point where it's obvious they're gonna crash, they can just switch to a different multiplayer slot and you don't get any points for it. This is REALLY annoying. I have never really cared about points, but when you shoot someone down you should definitely get the points for it. It can take a lot of thought to shoot someone down, and when they pull this lame stunt it doesn't count as a loss for them. That's ridiculous. I really hope this is patched soon.

Rhinox, first of all wear leveling will still work fine at 99% capacity. Second, with most consumer SSD's (even among heavy-users) SSD's have gotten to the point where most will last 10-20 years without having a read/writes issue. SSD's set aside a good amount of space (normally around 10%) so that filling the drive up will not cause issues. What you are talking about hasn't been an issue for years now.

I noticed I got a huge enormous FPS boost in 1.2.5 and no longer have an issue with my landing gear collapsing whenever they run over a twig.

I have always wondered, when an A-10C or F-16 "lases" a tank for example, could someone standing right by the tank see the actual laser?
-
I would think it would be synthetic aperture radar.
-
It's the GPU. DCS runs much better on nvidia.

Sure, you can map out a ton of stuff to the key board. But what's the fun in that? Also, the keyboard just can't give you the fine-tuned throttle adjustments that I find beneficial, especially during landing or weapons employment. I honestly don't even know how someone could land the A-10c in DCS without fine throttle control. And if you map the throttle on the X-52 pro correctly (for example), I have found that I rarely even need to use the keyboard.

Next DCS (Russian) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List

DCS: PAK-FA and DCS: F-35A would be a dream. -
That is completely untrue. With my X-52 pro I have a ton of commands mapped to the throttle, I use it more than the keyboard, and almost as much as the stick.
-
I would suggest track ir, or if that's too expensive or you like DIY stuff then FreeTrack. In DCS A-10C I think track ir/FreeTrack should honestly be a part of recommended specs.
-
That sounds more like a software issue than anything.
-
You should get at least an Ivy Bridge or Haswell processor. For DCS I would recommend the i5 processors as they handle single threaded applications like DCS just as well if not better than i7 processors. The i7 920 was an excellent processor in its day, but it is 5 years old, ancient in the computer world.

Sorry, edited the specs and put it in! Graphics Card: Gigabyte GTX 760 - 2GB OC 1085Mhz Rev 2.0

I am building a computer with these specs. I am building it solely for use with DCS A-10C, FC3, and future DCS titles. I would really like to know if it will be able to run DCS A-10C at all maxed out settings, or mostly maxed out. Let me know what you think :) Any and all advice would be highly appreciated! CPU: Intel Haswell i5 4670k Graphics Card: Gigabyte GTX 760 - 2GB OC 1085Mhz Rev 2.0 Motherboard: ASUS Z87-A LGA 1150 Intel Z87 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard Memory: Corsair 8GB Vengeance DDR3 1600Mhz Cas8 SSD: 256Gb Samsung 840 Pro PSU: Corsair TX Series 650W Case: NZXT Tempest 210 Mid Tower

That's fantastic! Gorgeous pits, thanks Mustang!

What's the best thing you like about the A-10?
Night replied to WildBillKelsoe's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
MAVERICKS! Also, I like the realism. For example, DCS A-10C is so realistic that when I bomb a hospital for blind orphans in one of the towns, I can faintly hear the screams of the louder ones when they see my bombs leave the pylons. When I land and it goes on the news, we call it "collateral damage". Gotta love the realism. In all seriousness though, I love how accurate the flight model is. you won't feel any G's from your desk chair but as far as computer flight sims go, DCS A-10C is about as good as it gets. -
System advise for DCS series
Night replied to chrischart's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I would go with the i5-4670k. It is just slightly more expensive, but the new generation of Intel processors (Haswell) use a new socket on the motherboard (LGA 1150) and the new Z87 chipset. The newer Haswell i5 4670k is 5-10% faster than the 3570. More importantly though, it will be much easier in the future to upgrade your CPU if you use the new Z87 Haswell chipset, and it is only a tiny bit more expensive. Also, I would recommend the GTX 760 instead of the 660 Ti, as it is newer, basically the same price, and has a higher clock speed and simply more bandwidth (256bit on the 760, as opposed to 192bit on the 660Ti). It's a faster card for the same price. -
If they had made an AT-802, I would have been furious if the crop dusting variant wasn't included. Can you imagine how thrilling it would have been on an FC3 server to fly around dusting people's crops with insecticide? Every time I think about it, I get a tingling sensation in my leg.
-
I would suggest the X-52 Pro, the quality of the materials is better than the regular version.
-
Honestly, I am about to pay $800 for a new computer and it is gonna have much better specs. You really should not buy this computer. You can get a much faster computer for a cheaper price.
-
There is no point in getting the GTX 660 Ti right now, when you can get the GTX 760 with slightly better performance and usually slightly lower prices. And I would NOT recommend the GTX 650, at all. I have used it and it is a terrible card, especially for BS.

Oberst, yes jammers show up on your RWR. Jammers work by emitting high energy radar emissions to confuse enemy radar. As such, they show up on RWR. People in FC3 multiplayer use jammers WAY more often than they actually should. It makes you difficult to miss and tells everyone where you are.

Yes, flying low does have its disadvantages. However, especially if you are in a mountainous area, it has its advantages as well. If you remain low in the mountain ridges and pop up occasionally you can remain hidden to all but the closest targets. When you are a Russian Su-27 you need every advantage against the F-15's you can get. Using mountains as cover lets you get up a lot closer into a WVR situation, as long as they are not flying in your opposite direction. In the flanker you want to get the F-15 in to a WVR situation as best you can, because that is where the flanker really excels. And yeah, in my post I did suggest using radar for a very short amount of time to make the identification. But it's not always necessary. Of course, this strategy does not apply very well when flying over flat terrain or water ;) in those cases, you want to use the R-27ER's slightly better range to force the enemy a/c in to going defensive as soon as possible, and maneuvering enough that you don't lose your lock but force the AMRAAM to lose kinetic energy trying to follow you. It's a tricky dance if you have no where to hide.

Make sure you are using the correct altitude for the waypoint. You can create waypoints thousands of feet high in the air which is useless for CAS aircraft like the A-10c. There is a way to correct the altitude of the waypoint in the CDU, but it would be best to correct this in the mission editor so you don't have to correct it in the CDU for all the waypoints.
