Thank you for instructions. I know how to set HOF and RPM. I'm doing that when using CBU-97(105) regularly. I tried with lower values, but without noticeable success. I must admit that I didn't devoted much time to study CBU-103(87), maybe I'm missing something. I will try to setup test mission and compare effectiveness of 87vs97 on infantry. I've got the same impression. Anyway, my conclusion is that you must choose weapons according insim effectiveness, not the real world application.

Best rudder pedals in DCS?
marluk replied to Pineapple Pete's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I agree with you. I heard for Slaw Device pedals. They are also very good. As far as I know if somebody wants to buy quality sim pedals there are those two options MFG and Slaw. Here is comparison of one person who bought both pedals. http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3977757/Slaw_VS._Milan_the_battle_of_t#Post3977757 -

Yes, Milan rules! I must pay him a visit one time when going through Split. :) -
Best rudder pedals in DCS?

One more for MFG Crosswinds! http://mfg.simundza.com/mfgcrosswind.php -
Razi, there is no point to have Windows on 75 Hz and force DCS on 60, because those freqs must be the same if you want have synced framerate. You must lower frequency of your monitor to the 60Hz value in Windows first. Than, I assume that DCS will automatically take that value for sync frame rate. If you use Win7 here is setting for monitor refresh rate: Right click on desktop->Screen resolution->Advanced settings->Monitor tab->Screen refresh rate EDIT: Uups, I replayed on post from February

Yes, I just mention that in previous post. Does anybody succeeded to kill anything with CBU-87(103)? If yes, how?
-
Yes, after reading your thread about weapon effectiveness in DCS I started to use AGM on bunch of infantry with great success. I know it is not realistic, but when dealing with unrealistic amount of enemies in mission, that require equal measures :). Also, I've read about 87s and 103s that they are better for infantry and soft targets, but I haven't succeed to kill anything with them. 1. I always read mission briefing and try to choose most appropriate weapons to accomplish the tasks. 2. Then, I start the mission. Sometimes there are no surprises and I fly mission successfully. 3. But funny guys sometimes put surprises in there, and I'm unable to finish mission successfully due some unpredicted events. So, for next attempt, I prepare inventory accordingly. I know, in real life you can't do this, but hay, this is simulation anyway. Here are my favorites for now: - GAU - AGM-65D (will try AGM-65K) - CBU-105 (high altitude/wind), CBU-97 (Lower altitude/wind) - GBU-12 - Rockets (HE)

I agree. Just would like to add that CBU-97 and CBU-105 are basically the same. The difference is CBU-105 has Wind Corrected Munitions Dispenser guidance tail kit, which converts it to a precision-guided weapon. If you must drop CBU from higher altitude, use CBU-105 instead of CBU-97.

Maybe he is not in range or radio is not correctly configured? ...Also you must press correct Mic button before transmission. On TM Warthog there is 4 way mic switch on throttle. Different switch direction, different frequency range. (AM, FM, UHF) ... and try to put radio on MAN, not AM or FM.

Size is not everything, but I must agree with you. There is no such thing as longer stick! The best way to increase precision is to prolong the stick. I've done that with my TM Warthog too. I'm very satisfied with the result. With one hit I've killed three flies. - better precision - less stickiness - can be mounted on chair Extensions should come with the stick as part of the product.

You're welcome marcus! Glad to help. There is one more thing you can do. Instead making S curve, you can keep it linear and sacrifice some of the edge positions of the stick movement to keep the resolution unchanged with greater precision. in this way you could minimize or completely avoid problems with input acceleration what P*Funk has mentioned. I think in DCS this option is named 'Saturation Y'. Try to move it and you will see that curve is getting more shallow while some of the edge Y values are not mapped any more. If you are not using edge positions while flying maybe you could find this option interesting. Of course you can combine S curve and Y saturation to make trade off that best suits you.

1.2.16 Open Beta & Stable Branch Discussion
marluk replied to cichlidfan's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Take a look last post here http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=140468 Few days ago I've asked about this release. This update was strangely long in Beta. CBU explosions were causing frame rate drop, this update should fix that. -
Thanks! This looks more convenient than reinstalling/repairing DCS.
-
It is not complicated just start 'Repair' option. It shouldn't take too long. Not sure if you need installation source files though.
-
Do you use some mods? Try to disable them for test. Maybe as idea: unplug X52, turn on TrackIR and start DCS. And see what is happening to exclude that view problem is control settings related. I would try to repair DCS installation. Maybe some lua file is changed. Backup your DCS files first.
-
Agree for SSD. Once tried OS and DCS on SSD there is no returning back to mechanical disks. In fact, I would put it in official recommended specifications for DCS. davidzill, yes, probably it is not the same issue. Since fps drops to the half refresh rate could be something SLI related.
-
Have you tried to clear all view control mappings? There are default view controls mappings to the various axes and buttons on hotas/joystick controls that can make problems if you don't reset them. Especially when you are using TrackIR.

With curve adjustments you can set joystick sensitivity. XY curve graph usually represents mapping between: X-actual axis movement and Y-movement of the stick in simulated plane. If you have perfect joystick device for plane you are flying in simulator, there should be no need for adjusting axis curves. For instance I'm using TM Warthog to fly A-10C and I've never had need to touch curves. Sometimes when flying you can feel that your joystick is little too sensitive. Than you can form S curve to lower sensitivities of the stick near center position... so movement of the stick (curve X axis) will produce less in game movement (curve Y axis). Dead zone is defined within the same XY curve. It is vicinity around x=0 where values are mapped into 0 (y=0). So, for instance, you can define from x=-0.5 to x=0.5 as dead zone so that amount of detected stick movement will not produce any stick movement in simulated plane. Generally it is hard to say which setting are closer to the real thing, as there are many variables in equation. If you feel right with your stick, don't touch the curves. If you feel that you have trouble to precise control the plane, you can try to make some amount of S curve to lower sensitivities. Check raw input of your joystick near the center. Leave it in center position, and very gently tap on it without actual moving. If there is need to define dead zone you will see that joystick input is hopping around the center position. That area where you have stochastic control output without real input should be covered with dead zone. Good luck.

Known issue is that CBU explosions affects frame rate badly. But I'm not sure for 30 mm cannon impacts. It looks like similar effect, maybe it suffers from the same issue. It is fixed in 1.2.16.39472 update but not yet released, it is still in beta. Take a look on last post here http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=140468

Wags said for PC Pilot May/June. I'm expecting to see some announcements soon :)
-
I must admit that I'm getting a bit impatient too. :)

Yes but I hope if ED started to publish tutorials for creating maps that release of DCSW 2.0 is near. :music_whistling:

Great! Accept this Seth, one on one instructions are invaluable.
