Thanks Hollywood, I did read the user manual again but I guess I must have overlooked it

So I have been flying in VR for about a week and it is great. But I feel it is fuzzy out of focus. But I wear glasses that have the progressive lenses, so close for reading, medium and far away. I was wondering if my glasses cause the fuzzy look as I might be looking through the middle section of the lens. So do you wear your glasses? I already have small area of scratches on the VR lenses, I don’t think it creates the fuzzy look. I had my son who does not need glasses yet. He sees it as not completely clear too. If I don’t wear my glasses it is a little hard to see things. Do you wear your glasses? I have seen that there are prescription lenses for the VR.

2 questions since date First, great additions in this update. I was adding some command this afternoon as I started playing in VR. After I added the wors I start the voice training. And when selecting Finish it gave me the steps to copy the new commands into the profile. But the profile window seems to have changed. I don't see the line or field that say "When I speak" Therefore I can't copy the commands in. see screenshot The second problem I have is with the transmit buttons. I have the POV switch on the side of my Warthog for the 4 different channels. in DCS UP is com1 and Down is Com2. But in Voieattack UP shows TX4, POV forward is TX1. This did not happen before. When I use UP Com1 it does not work because VA is using com4 so no command is heard or transmitted. Thanks, Hollywood for this amazing tool.

I just tested where my mouse works fine and as soon as I put a finger of the sensor on the inside of the HMD the mouse stops. This must have something to do with mouse simulation. I mentioned in the previous message that the DCS icon would not show up or seemed not to be selected. If I don't do anything the mouse seems to be fine. iT IS very intermittend, I bought this RTX270 as an open box item. I am going to return it and swap it for one new. just a few more $$$ Peter

I upgraded my GPU yesterday and as such have been spending hours on changing settings in various places. Somewhere last night I started having the problem where my mouse would freeze the moment I put the HMD on. I tried turning the parameter on and off that keeps the mouse cursor within DCS. when restraining it, it seems to work for a few minutes. I have updated to the last mouse drivers. I have been noticing something that might be related. How do you start DCS in VR? I have started it by first starting SteamVR(beta) and then DCS. I have started DCS and then SteamVR get initiated automatically but I will not see the icon for DCS on the taskbar. it only appears when I click on the DCS VR window. So it seems that when starting the mouse is not focussed on the DCS application. When the mouse does not move I take my headset off, use Alt-tab to go to the WMR app, the blue bar with the text use WIN+Y to use the desktop shows up. I use Win+Y to get my mouse back, then Alt-tab back into DCS and then it there and moving. But 50% of the time as soon as I put the headset on it freezes again. I know there is a sensor int he HMD above the green LED over the nose part that sees when you have it on your head. Can this have anything to do with the Direct Display Mode? I read that it was developed for the Rift. I have it enabled for my Samsung Odessey+ Any ideas/thoughts. It is super frustrating thanks

I just saw that they updated it again and put the old Setting UI back :megalol:

I see no difference in FPS. But no matter how I set the different settings the trees at 200 yards away or buildings are blurry. This might not be the right way of describing it, jitteryis better, I have played with the anti aliasing settings but it does not make a difference. It is not a problem in the air, only eye candy sake on the ground.
-
I will try this later. Thanks, Stuart, I wish you could set the quality per eye as I am 85% blind in my left eye :megalol:
-
As others have stated the motion reprojection does not seem to make any difference for me. I just tested it and turning it gives me the same image quality and FPS. This seems to be since the last update. Let's see what happens tomorrow. Peter

OK I gave the wrong instructions as I did not remember it exactly what I did last night at 2am :smilewink: Start DCS and the SteamVR app will open too then go to settings and DCS is listed.
-
I understand what you are saying Stuart, I had the same thing happen. I had to try it a few times before it worked. Have the settings window open, start DCS, use Alt-Tab to go to the settings window. After 3 times (don't know why) DCS.EXE showed up and I could select it. This then showed it in percentage.

I feel that if I lean into the turns it helps. I can fly for 2 hours and not be sick at all.

Working in a VR pit in the future discussion...
DutchCoolHand replied to Harlikwin's topic in Virtual Reality
I have only been flying in VR for a few days and I find it so immersive that I find myself reaching for buttons in the cockpit. especially when I need to switch between AA and AG mode. I think with PointControl that Miles is developing it will get very close. He even says that he thinks it will be in short term solution as VR developers are working on "VR Hands" Another example of immersion is that I want to put my left elbow on the canopy rail for support, I had it happen now a few times I move to do it and my elbow "falls" down as there is nothing to support it.:) I do believe that you can influence immersion, to help with the motion sickness I lean my head into the turns or if I make a loop. It helps to give your brain the actual sensation of being in that position. My wife said she will make a video of my flying in VR, it looks quite funny from the outside. -
What you can do is start DCS, go to steamvr beta, open settings and click on Applications. DCS should be listed in there. this will give you a percentage. I figured this out last night when I got my new RTX2070. But I found that I get better graphics quality and FPS if I use a SS of 100% and set the PD to 1.6. I do use MSAA 2x to get nice and smooth. I love this new setup. Peter

I just bought an RT 2070. I still need to play with settings but it is already much better.

What you are saying is that there is a limit with every card :)

I got my Samsung Odyssey+ set up on Sunday and have been trying to get the best image quality combined with FPS. I am limited with my 3-month-old GPU a GTX 1060 . I can get the graphics reasonable (a lot of jutter/flicker unless I turn on MSAA) with an FPS around 20 to 30. I have made many changes to settings and tested different MODS I have no problem flying with it, I don't get a headache or anything. My biggest issue is that the HMD is leaning on my glasses and pushes them into my nose and it gets sore after 2 hours. I have the VRCover on order and should be here within a week. Most of my testing has been in Air to Air. I still have to test it with a ground pounder mission. I am looking at upgrading my GPU, if money was no issue I would upgrade to an RTX2080 but I am unemployed at the moment, New job starting May 1  As I have a lot of time on my hands for the next 2 months I want to upgrade my GPU so I enjoy VR even more :pilotfly:. So I am thinking about which GPU to upgrade to, the RTX 1660 at $300, the RTX 2060 at $400 or the RTX2070 at $500. I know that with the RTX 1660 I would probably upgrade again in a year. I want to ask where the biggest bottleneck it as the moment with DCS, would it better to go for the 2070 because it has 2 GB more memory. Or is memory not the issue and it more about raw power. My CPU is an AMD Ryzen 7 2700 and I have 32GB of memory with 2 SSD which run DCS. I know DCS is not optimized for VR yet and there does not seem to be a clear timeline for that. What would you suggest? Thanks

PointCTRL - Finger Mounted VR Controller
DutchCoolHand replied to MilesD's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Quick question, AS I use the Samsung Odyssey+ I don't have any base stations. that is no problem right. I believe I saw an earlier post on it. Peter I just found the messages regarding the Odyssey, so please ignore.- 3421 replies

VR Shaders mod for better VR experience
DutchCoolHand replied to Kegetys's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I am having a weird problem since applying the mod, the mouse does not move anymore in DCS, I have to Alt-Tab to WMR, press win + Y than Alt-Tab back to DCS but don't put on the HMD yet otherwise the mouse freezes again, as long as I just pick one thing I put the HMD back on. So I was going to uninstall the MOD, I deleted the contents of FXO and Metashaders2. But there was no DCS directory in the terrain folder I changed. Is this normal? EDIT: I did a repair on DCS and it got fixed -
VR Shaders mod for better VR experience
DutchCoolHand replied to Kegetys's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I have applied the MOD and I think I see an improvement especially visual. I wanted to ask what mask size to use for Samsung Odessey? I can confirm to be patient when loading it probably took 10 minutes between first startup and the first mission. Peter -
Thank you for all the replies. I flew with another DCS Pilot online tonight and we talked about it. I have read the official manual and Chuck's guide and there still so many things to learn. First thing I changed tonight was to correctly set up the off to Idle for the throttles. I also learned where to look for the error messages on the left DDI. When you say Home fuel, that is different from BINGO fuel? and yes the seat was armed. I was so busy flying the planes that just don't remember for sure if got the warning tonight, but I don't think so. What an amazing sim and plane!

Hi all, I started flying the Hornet about 2 weeks ago and recently I noticed that when I advance the throttles the master caution comes on but I don’t see any warning lights or other indicators. I checked the engine page and others but I see nothing. Is this a known bug? Something iman nor understanding or can you. To move the throttle too quickly? Peter

that helped Hollywood Thanks!
