  1. Lol, have you guys seen this one? http://vkb-pro.ru/index.php/produktsiya-vkb/paneli-upravleniya
  2. I wouldn't exactly call that a "low end stick". It looks pretty nice. And yes, its missing a throttle, so say add $75 to the price. I find the price of the Thrustmaster to be highway robbery, which is keeping a lot of poorer people from ever getting into decent flight sims. One of the real problems is that there are no decent sticks for flight sims, except ones like the Thrustmaster. Look at the Saitek. Its UGLY AS HELL. It looks like it was made for some Wing Commander game. Sure the TM is better than the Russian stick in question, or any Saitek, but its not 10X better. TM needs to lower their stick down to about $250, which would be a FAR more reasonable price. And they would sell far more. More sales = more profit. At $250, people who just play games like HAWX and Wing Commander would probably even buy it, just because it has a lot of buttons and looks cool. At $500, they're not going to touch it.
  3. Scary, isn't it? I'd liken it to religious fanaticism. In M$ we BELIEVE! Oh well, the warning's been given. Let people heed it or not as they will. Me, I won't touch it. I'm not a fanatic of any OS. I'm writing this on Win 7, which I like in many ways. Very nice GUI. Just which it had more power and security under the hood, like Linux RHEL, or CENTOS. But this time M$ has gone WAY WAY TOO FAR. And I'm betting there going to pay for it in the courts.
  4. After reading some peoples posts, I begin to wonder. I guess they just don't ( or refuse ) to get it. Well, if living in a country ruled by a company akin to the Yakuza or Mafia is there thing, good for them. Me, I'm off to find out where all the other sane people went.
  5. Ok, let me try to explain this a little better. What do you not understand about These people want to have utter and absolute control of your computer whether you like that or not? Now, read the article a little more carefully, and all the comments as well, and you'll see that what you said above is not exactly true, and actually rather murky at best. At one point, it is thought that in order to do this, if it is even possible, you would have to rip open your case and get to a dipswitch on the motherboard ( ever try to reach the motherboard in a laptop? I have. An absolute Nightmare ). Then, even if you manage to do this, some people have pointed out other problems that still make this near impossible, even if the hardware OEMs allow this. Which most people, quite rightly, are betting they won't. Then their are all the NDA's, etc., etc., and the fact, that in the end, the EU is probably going to sue the living shit out of M$ for even attempting this. And seriously, how could ANYONE support a company that is desperately trying to make us all into controlled zombies? Don't you take OFFENSE at this? Does anyone question ANYTHING anymore? I'm guess I'm one of the few left who still wants free thought and control of his own life, without BIG BROTHER trying to manipulate my puppet strings. Waiting for Windows 9 and sanity, if M$ survives this ( and if you'll ever be able to buy Windows in the EU again ). As for being "not part of the crowd", yeah, just like I won't hurl myself over a cliff just because millions of other people are doing it. At least only the sane will be left.
  6. *Currently too busy throwing up to post*
  7. Actually, M$ has now made sure that only THEIR OS can run on any new Windows PC ( in other words, 95% of all new computers). http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=96449
  8. Microsoft - "what? No one cares? EXCELLENT!"
  9. Were talking 10X difference in price here! There isn't THAT much difference. They're just holding it over our heads.
  10. http://www.zdnet.com/blog/open-source/microsoft-to-stop-linux-older-windows-from-running-on-windows-8-pcs/9589 Bad. Bad. Bad. And for those who don't get it, thinking, Oh well, I never planned on running Win XP, Linux, Mac, Win 7, etc. , if you read the article, this means they HAVE ABSOLUTE CONTROL OVER YOUR COMPUTER. They can not only keep you from running any OS they don't like on YOUR computer, they can keep you from running ANYTHING they don't like! They, and only They, have the keys to YOUR computer! Cue the Imperial Death March.
  11. $50 bucks. And it appears to have HALL SENSORS! Now how much does Thrustmaster want for the Warthog again? I've always said they are ripping us off. Nothing but another monopolizing M$. Give us a fair price Thrustmaster!
  12. We all know what the reason is. M$. $$.
  13. Actually, from what I've heard, Valve is working with Nvidia and ATI on developing OpenGL drivers that are currently giving better framerates than Direct X in Linux. Probably because Linux isn't as bloated as Windows. Yeah, and I'm not much of a fan of Ubuntu either. What I would like to see is an OS with the nice GUI / Graphics of Windows, and the internal power of Red Hat, etc.
  14. Yes, but its not only the store. Win 8 is just not a REAL PC OS. And this is another reason why some companies are not pleased. Win8 just sucks. I think some companies have also wanted to get out from under the Iron Fist of M$, and now they see their chance. As for DirectX, this is why Valve is looking to kill it off with OpenGL. Now they can go to Linux and MAC as well. No longer locked up by M$. Can you say "Jail Break"? Plus, the article shows that OpenGL, even in beta stage drivers, is significantly faster than Direct X. It just took some NVidia and ATI engineers to work with it and make it plugin right. Viva Revolt. Its about time M$ got some competition. EDIT: I also noticed in the article, they are looking for MAC developers as well.
  15. They might, because if you read the articles, there is one HUGE CHANGE in Linux. Valve has gotten ATI and NVidia to start working on gaming drivers and OpenGL. They're now getting speeds quite a bit faster than their Windows counterparts. So now does Steam not only support Linux, ATI and NVidia are as well. Windows 8 is an fugly bitch. Valve has seen the light, as have other companies like Blizzard. Windows is now trying hard to go to the "walled garden" approach just like the MAC. A lot of companies are not liking it, and are starting give Linux a serious look over.
  16. Second link now working.
  17. http://betanews.com/2012/08/13/will-windows-8-make-linux-the-new-gaming-os/ http://blogs.valvesoftware.com/linux/ Interesting times. :) Screw M$. They've ruled and held us down long enough.
  18. Lol, good, were going to hold you to that. ;)
  19. I agree with the op. I am wary of 3rd party developers, developing for DCS and sticking the DCS name on their products, and as buyer and a connoisseur, I offer no apologies for that. The models look pretty decent so far, but we shall see how real they are when they finally fly. I've come to expect a lot from DCS, now that we have BS2 and A-10c, and I expect NO LESS from the 3rd parties. Otherwise, what's the point?
  20. Answer your question? :)
  21. Caveat: Win 8 makes me want to shoot some M$ CEO's. Business wise, I think M$ is dead. This is a windows aimed at the young and the non-tech, non-business kids. I've read a lot of articles about it now. Forbes doesn't think much of it. Businesses don't like it. Programmers, like myself, HATE IT. Its mostly made for entertainment for people who can't figure out the simple Start Button. Not for financiers, not business types, not for techs. M$ better hope there are more young wistful types out there than there are serious PC users, or its the bankruptcy courts for them. I like Windows 7 because it has a very nice GUI. Unfortunately, its file system and basic internals have a lot to be desired compared to Linux. I don't know why M$ has never cared to do better. Oh well, after M$ is dead, Linux can just copy their GUI without fear of being sued to death over the next 100 years by 1000 lawyers, and we'll have the best PC OS ever made. Maybe there is a good side to this! And personally, I don't care if we lose M$. They're a viscous monopoly with no qualms in my opinion. Good riddance. Linux ( a real PC OS ) will finally have some more users and we can all start figuring out how to make our own DirectX ( or better OpenGL ) for it.
  22. Yeah, now were being forced to play on XBox's and Tablets. It's getting where you can't even buy REAL PC games anymore. Sims like DCS seem to be the last stand.
  23. Wait till you see the coming Windows 8 one! :helpsmilie:
  24. The problem is that Windows was good (well, except for ME). I ( and many others across the net ) now get the feeling that M$ is trying to dump the PC in favor of tablets. Were being forced, kicking and screaming, to turn our PC's into giant tablets, whether we like it or not. I have no interests in tablets, or smartphones ( or XBox's ) communicating back and forth with my PC, whether M$ wants this or not. Yeah, there are some problems, and that is because M$ has become one giant monopoly, able to make us bow and scrape on command. We need to break out. As for Linux, we'll, if your smart enough to learn to fly an A-10c, your smart enough to learn Linux.
