Actually, if you ever tried Ubuntu, or a few of the other flavors of linux, and got the correct addons, it would look exactly like Win7 and be superior in about every aspect. For instance, you would have a machine with ACTUAL, REAL SECURITY. Not to mention its FREE. The con of Linux is that, yes, its a LOT more to learn than Windows.

Actually, if I can swim through all the screaming Windows fanboys ( and Windows 7 isn't bad), my original question "is DCS ever going to put out a Linux version of DCS:World? As for Windows 8, I guess you can only understand what is going to happen if you ever had a game you loved, that was made for PC, whose sequel was gutted and mangled and made an XBox exclusive ( with a port for PC). That is what is going to happen to PC's if M$ has its way. Our Desktops will be downgraded to oversized smart phones. Win8 is the first step. We have Windows 7 for the next few years, but what after that?

I really don't think they care about PC's much anymore. They're sinking all their money into tablets and phones. Kind of like Crytek, who put out one of the best PC games EVER and then abruptly abandoned PCs for consoles. Reason? $$. I think M$ is trying to kill PC's. And of course, their motive is $$. Time to find a new OS.

Yes, but only through Windows 7. I think the cracks in M$ are starting to show. Win8 is a desperate bid at best. And god awful for PC's. They have literally turned their backs on us PC users. It reminds me of Cryteks failed Crysis 2, which obviously used a gutted version of CE2, which is still vastly superior to CE3. Crysis 2 was obviously made for an XBox. I'm sure M$ paid them big bucks behind closed doors to do it. Now, it is obvious why. Just look at the front of Win8's menu. What do you see? Look familiar? If you own an XBox, sure it does. Complete with what appears to be an XBox emulator. Win8 is M$'s Crysis 2. A lot of PC users are finally starting to get it and looking at other OS's.

Windows 8 is not only a disgrace, its a downright insult to PC users. Microsoft has obviously dumped PC's in a suicidal move to challenge Apple and embrace tablets. See ya, M$. I'll be happy to piss on your grave. So now that M$ has cut its wrists, can we finally see some support for Linux, which has always been the best and most complete OS for PC's?

I hope you guys will entertain the thought of developing player controlled infantry for the field, as everyone else seems to be interested only in aircraft. I was just flying over a city in A-10c today, looking down at the beautiful view and thinking what a shame there was no FPS down there. Would be some awesome missions with realistic vehicle and air support.

Yeah, places like Fry's Electronics take stuff back with no questions asked. Just find a good store like them. I can remember when DVD burners were $500+ at Fry's. Why not? Its great. You get to play against TONS of other players in a virtual world. This is why DCS needs to incorporate FPS and other vehicle sims into its WORLD. MMO is THE future of gaming / sims. Probably, one day, ONE world made by one huge company will hold FPS / Racing / Simulation / etc. for a single timeline, like the 21'st century. Another company might make another World for the 17th century, etc. Will be interesting to practice flying an A-10 in friendly territory while watching a racing event below. :P

Lol, FC2 only? So much for that. ED needs to take a chill pill and drop the required internet connection. This is a really serious sim with TONS of learning curve. Anyone who seriously wanted and plays this game bought it. FC2 is the one you should worry about being pirated. Its a game.

Awesome. I'm so sick of only being able to fly in DCS. We need ground troops / sea vessels. If a 12 year old game engine can do it, why can't DCS? DCS should be the successor to Arma.

People aren't dumb. They knew what you meant. You should ban them if they don't comply. It's like Crysis. No base attacking. People didn't listen, so thats when the bases got the player sensing mini-nuke gattling guns installed. Problem solved.

If only the dammed character could move better than Frankenstein's monster. Quite likely! :D

Looks like it may be using CryEngine 3. Somewhat impressive. Wish DCS would put more into their lighting and world detail.

Combat math: 4 enemy + 2 pigs + 1 goat + 1 motorcycle = 26 enemy killed in action. Lol, well said.

Lol, yeah, we really need to find an expert on this. I did a few hours of research so far on google, and its really hard to find anything solid, especially top armor. Plus, we have to understand what normally happens when the bullets hit at sharp angles ( which is the usual ), and does the mass attack of 70 rnds/sec increase damage in of itself ( heating / softening, fracturing, etc. ). Hopefully, ED can pry some information out of someone ( or we can just wait for data from the coming Iran War :music_whistling:).

@OutontheOP - Oh, I somewhat agree with you on KE and Chem values, but ERA is effective against kinetic - the explosion tends to fracture the spike and/or force it off course, causing a glancing blow. Though yeah, it probably isn't as effective as it is against chem. Also, I found an interesting table. http://collinsj.tripod.com/protect.htm As for top armor, that's pretty hard to find. All I can find so far is about 40 to 50mm (KE? Chem? Actual?) estimates for M1 top armor. The Army seems to want to keep this value a good secret. Now we have to consider its a glancing blow, probably at about 30 degrees.
