EVGA Nvidia GTX 670 (2GB)
-
Thanks for posting that, Marc :) We are both very much looking forward to flying at this years VFAT event and, we hope, putting on a great show that everyone will enjoy. From now up until the show, we will be providing regular training updates to show our progress. It's also worth noting that VFAT 2012 will be debut with The Virtual Horsemen at a live show. More soon!

Sniper, Best wishes mate! Let us know how it went as soon as you can - Looking forward to flying again. Rock

I've tried that too, unfortunately. (Infact I tried several combinations). Vsync on in game Vysnc off in game Vysnc on in NVidia control panel etc... I'll have to keep messing around when I get home on Wednesday
-
Unfortunately there isn't. I'll try to figure it out and see what I can do. Might try changing my drivers to see if that fixes it

Ah sorry, my mistake. My specs: Intel i7-2600K Asus Maximus 1155 Extreme IV Rev 3 EVGA Nvidia GTX 670 (2GB) 16 GB Corsair Vengeance (1600 Mhz) RAM Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. I'm seeing some kinda of horizontal lines going across the screen in game and they moving up and down. It doesn't look like a tear caused by Vsync.... These lines are very, very faint. They are always there, but they are more obvious against a dark back ground. I've never seen anything like it before

Thanks guys, Wolf Rider, I've tried those settings out but, unfortunately, I still have the same issue :/

VH-Rock replied to WildBillKelsoe's topic in Screenshots and Videos
If you keep the aircraft dead straight and are careful with the rate of decent, it's not too difficult to get her down in a relatively flat field. Let her stray a little left or right though and you're going to crash. -
Hi guys, just getting my new PC set up - what graphics options should I set in my Nvidia control panel? I have an EVGA Nvidia GTX 670

Indeed, thoroughly enjoyable

:megalol: Nothing like insulting the people who have been trying to help you... 4 Hours is no where near enough time to adapt to a sim as complex as DCS. No offence, but Xplane, FSX and Lockon could be flown with your eyes closed... 1 button to start, not complex systems modelling etc... (A2A's accusim is a new development and is great, but it's a shame it's in such a poor base sim :/ ) The artificial horizon works perfectly is you set it right, try looking at you climb and decent guage ;) I can honestly say, I have no issues operating this aircraft and I only use the hatswitch on my joystick to look around the pit and select switches. I think, gentlemen, that what we're seeing here is several people coming to a super realistic sim that find it offensive that they can't just push a button and go fly any more. I mean, how horrible must it be to actually have to put some effort into something to fly it correctly? A pure sign of the Call of Duty generation... Now, run along Zimmerdylan and go play on your Xbox, or is that too complicated for you, too? :joystick:

Indeed, I've seen Mr Carlson and his replicas fly many times and always enjoyed the display that he puts on. That was quite a spin, but again, experience proved to be reliable and the situation was resolved quickly :)

I'm afraid not, but I'm sure somebody will have it on video somewhere. It was a hot topic on several forums that night and the pilots, after landing, certainly seemed to have a long discussion about the incident after landing. The 3 Mustangs were having a Tailchase, with 'Velma' being the 3rd aircraft. The first Mustang climbed and rolled right, the second Mustang climbed and rolled left. Velma climbed and initially rolled left, but then tried to correct and follow the first Mustang. At the top of that wing over, you could see the aircraft slip, right on the edge of the stall. Luckily, the pilot must have realised and managed to regain sufficient airspeed before the aircraft spun. It was certainly a tense moment for those who saw it, let alone the pilot! As I said, a none incident really, but the skill and reactions of the pilot certainly prevented a dangerous situation becoming a potentially lethal one. Considering that all these warbirds are operated well within their limits, it goes to show that even in careful operation by experience pilots, they can still bite. [Pilots on the ground, immediately after landing, discussing the incident. Lot's of hand gestures explaining how they did what and who should have done what were seen.]

 Spot on, Pyroflash! Any one who was at this years Flying Legends event watching the Mustang tail chase on the Saturday will have seen 'Miss Velma's near stall at the top of a wing over. It was a none event really because the pilot knew how to handle the situation, but that's exactly the point. He'd been flying the aircraft for years and it still caught him out a little. If you know the flight manual, learn how to treat her right and maximise it's potential you will love flying this aircraft :) The ED guys have spent a fantastic amount of effort getting it right and, in my book atleast, they've pulled if off. Sure, there's a few bugs here and there that are being eradicated, but as with any beta, they are to be expected.

Take off is indeed somewhat more tricky than landing as, most times, you have significantly less power on during your approach / touchdown. Personally, I've found that 3 pointing this AC is the way to in landing. In VH, for our 2 ship show, we have to do a formation take-off. In IL-2, the wingman could focus entirely on the leader and never need to take his eyes off the boss. If you try this way in DCS, you will almost certainly ground loop. The only way we can do a formation take-off and retain directional control is to constantly keep flicking backwards and forwards between looking at the leader and looking in the direction we are travelling. It is significantly more difficult than in IL-2, but I can't help but feel that this is how it should be. We currently use very little elevator trim (2 clicks nose down on my trim button) and 2 - 3 degrees of right Rudder trim. It is also worth noting that I do not hold the stick back on take-off... I just let the tail come up when it's ready and ease back on the stick to get airborne. I've never had an issue keeping it straight using this method. Keeping control of this aircraft on take-off is all about the application of power and how quickly you want to apply it...

Thank you, Ian. We really do appreciate the support. If you do decide to buy the P-51 module, shoot us a PM and we'll be happy to give you a helping hand to get you started. We often host public servers to allow people of all levels to get a taste of formation flying. Infact, our current right wing pilot, started off joining our public servers with no formation flying experience at all and, a few years later, he is now a member of the VH team and a very solid right wing pilot :) All it takes is dedication and the passion to do it right. And, to bring it back to the original topic, that doesn't mean giving up after 4 hours... I think many people here are forgetting that Mustang pilots spent hours flying the Stearman, getting used to taildraggers in a low powered aircraft, before moving onto the the texan (Still substantially less powerful than the Mustang) and only after having several hours flying these 2 aircraft, moved onto the Mustang, with all it's power. Many people flying this sim will have no experience flying taildraggers in previous sims, no real life experience in tail draggers and no training aircraft in this sim to build them up to flying the Mustang in DCS. It is bound to be difficult when you think of it like that... Flying the Mustang in DCS is difficult at first, but if you're willing to put the effort into it, you will reap the rewards. We have flown countless hours flying formation aerobatics in DCS using the P-51. We have never flown, and probably never will fly, a perfect display. You set a goal, try to achieve it, watch you improvement over time and chase perfection. Perfection is something that probably only happens for a couple of seconds at a time... One small part of a loop or a roll where everything falls into place, everybody is in position and moving together as one aircraft. That is what we chase when flying formation, but that same passion and persistence towards perfection can be used in any aspect of virtual flying... When you achieve it, if only for a few seconds, it's worth it. One thing is for sure, you will never fly a flight and be able to say that you couldn't have done anything better. Seriously, stick with it, find somebody to help you and chase that goal. You'll love it if you do! If you're just going to give up on it, there's nothing any of us can do and I'm sure everybody here will wish you the best. Rock.

Too sensitive? Stalls all the time? We've never had any issues. That video was made after 1 week with the aircraft (about 4 or 5 1 hour flights over that week). As with any aircraft, treat her right and she'll be your best friend. Treat her wrong and she'll kill you.

rolling and pitching violently for no reason
VH-Rock replied to Soulres's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
Soulres, isn't it about time you crawled back under your bridge? -
Indeed, I always do gear first and then lower the flaps as you turn from base to final :)

Cheers Guys, Neroroxxx, I'll check that out mate, as I do happen to be a Slash fan :P (Got to see him live last year... If you've seen the "Made in Stoke" DVD, you should keep an eye out for me, as, I'm in it quite a lot :) ) Some very nice instruments around here apparently :) Just realised I didn't post a photo of mine... (:megalol:) My 3 Les Pauls were joined by a friends Les Paul Traditional. From Left to Right: Les Paul Classic, Les Paul Traditional (NOT mine), Les Paul Studio 50's Tribute with Humbucker, Les Paul Studio Gem Series Top right is a 1968 Yamaha SA-30 which I sold yesterday. @leafer The Les Paul Classic is an absolute beauty, my favourite of the collection! She weighs an absolute ton as she isn't weight relieved or chambered like most Les Pauls are today. The Pickups are extremely powerful on it... Endless sustain, a nice thick tone (There's a lot of middle), but a very clear sound at the end of it. The Volume / Tone controls on this guitar give you a hugely varied array of sounds... I've yet to find a more versatile guitar! The neck is just gorgeous (60's thinner style) and the build quality is stunning. I really can't praise this guitar enough, it's fantastic! Here's mine; Keep 'em coming guys!

I'm a guitarist myself... 18 now and been playing since I was 6. Have a nice collection of guitars around me and it's always nice to meet other musicians. So, Any others out there? Post your equipment and, if you have, a recording of you playing! I'll start: Equipment: Amp: 150 Watt Marshall AVT 275 Guitars: Gibson Les Paul Studio Gem Series (Ruby Red) Gibson Les Paul Studio 50's Tribute - with humbuckers (Gold Top) Gibson Les Paul Classic (Honey Burst) Gibson SG Special (Worn Cherry) Fender Telecaster (Natural Rosewood) Fender Telecaster (Natural Swamp Ash Telecast (Home build - currently in bits) Fender Stratocaster (Tobacco Sunburst) Squire Strat (No idea why I still have it...) Other Guitars (My Dad's collection that I have access to) Gretsch 6120/60 (Orange) Epiphone 335 (Cherry Red) Fender Telecaster - (Natural Swamp Ash) We also have 5 acoustics between us which we both use. Recording equipment: M-Audio Fast Track Pro Pro Tools 10 SE And a clip of me playing... I just got finished working on this collaboration with a friend: There are timed comments to identify the play. So, post your stuff! All the best, Rob.

I've never understood the difficulty in taxiing this aircraft, although I've flown props in different sims for a long time, so maybe I'm just used to it. If you unlock your tail wheel, Apply Rudder and power to initiate the turn, you can use the differential brakes (in the opposite direction) to stop the aircraft spinning. It's very smooth and easy to taxi using this method, especially if you have toe brakes set up...

Stunning work Rudel, truly great work, my friend!

Fish, leave it out. This is not the place. If you have issues with VTA / Wolf, Sort it via PM, not in the public boards.
