Gear fairing doors/hydraulic release valve
VH-Rock replied to MTFDarkEagle's topic in Bugs and Problems
The pressure is not released instantly, it is slowly released. (You watch a P-51 after shut down and it can take 5 - 10 minutes for the does to drop fully because there is still some pressure there). If you put the handle back in while there is still some pressure, the doors will stay at that point. -
Gear fairing doors/hydraulic release valve
VH-Rock replied to MTFDarkEagle's topic in Bugs and Problems
Not a bug, but accurate modelling of the system :) The doors will stop dropping because it maintains whatever hydraulic pressure was left in the system. You are pushing the handle back in before all the pressure has left the system. :) -
Watch us perform live at the Virtual Festival of Aerobatic Teams 2012 in December! That's right folks, after missing the last 2 years at VFAT due to other commitments, the skies above Anapa will once again reverberate to the sound of the mighty Merlin engine. We'll post more specific scheduling information as we get it and post regular updates from our training for the show. Make sure you're there! Flying a new simulator, Rock will take to skies showcasing the new DCS:P-51 developed by Eagle Dynamics and The Fighter Collection. It is with great pride that we can release our VFAT 2012 Promo video - Take a look, comment but most importantly, don't miss the show!

Just a quick question: Would it be possible to synchronise the radiators online? At the minute I can not see my wingman's radiator open... I know it's only a small thing, but when making a video and you have 2 or 3 P-51s taxiing closely together, it looks rather odd with only one having it's radiator open as it should do. Thanks :)

+1, a dedicated dev team and a great community to boot!

That could be to do with your fuel load (depending on how the mission was set up). Always start on the left tank for the reasons that were explained earlier :)
-
I suppose that would depend on all kinds of factors... What your speed is, altitude and what the temps were like just prior to you going to full throttle. There's a lot of variables there

Thanks bud, we certainly appreciate the support :) The fuel boost pump switch is located just to the left of the starter (You should switch it on before starting although it's not necessary for straight and level flight). If you around over the weekend, stop by in our TS and come for a flight with us - we should be around so if you don't see us, just keep popping back. IP: 85.236.100.27:16847

Hi Jabodude, Welcome to the forum. My best advice would be to thoroughly read the pilots manual - it will be your saving grace :) I'm afraid I'm at work now so I can't watch your track, but I would suggest having a look at your oil temperature/pressure and coolant temperature when your engine quits - make sure everything is in the green. Also, is your fuel boost pump on when you're diving? I'm wondering if sustained negative G from the initial push over could be causing fuel starvation without the fuel boost pump on? (That depends on when your engine actually fails though). Try keeping your MP at 46" and your RPM at 2700

Lots of interesting things in that file list :)

Looking fantastic, guys! Will certainly be on my purchase list when it's ready :)

Yesterday, myself and flew a 65 minute training flight. I was using max constant power for pretty much all of this time and kept the engine well within the temperature and pressure limits. No adverse effects here and no damage as far as I know.

A very solid 2 hour training session last night! We focussed on the Roll and the Cuban for most of that time, but managed to throw in a few loops as well. More training is scheduled for over the weekend and work on our VFAT 2012 Promo has begun - hopefully it will be released soon. We've really ramped up our training to ensure that we will be ready for VFAT this year and, after last night, there is no doubt that we will be. We'll post some more images soon but, right now, our new promo has priority. Maybe I could post a few captures from the up coming video?

They had a mag failure and the engine lost power on final approach. There is a large grass hill, followed by a taxi way, followed by the grass strip. Miss Helen touched down before the grass as the pilot had no choice

Of course, you're in a slow aircraft, that's quite heavy, and you're trying to pull too much. It's no different than stalling in a dog fight if you let the speed get too low. Being perfectly centered doesn't make a difference at all.

Hi Guys, new to DCS and considering the P-51.
VH-Rock replied to wrmiller19's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
Thanks leafer :) Actually people laugh at me! I'm still using a standard X-52, not an X-65 or a Warthog. But, as I see it, why change hardware when what you have works perfectly? wrmiller19, I'm glad to see you purchased the P-51 and got her up. As ctec1 said, check the take off assists and make sure auto rudder and game flight mode are off. She's just great fun to fly! -
There's a P-51 B model in game, but it is unfinished and therefore not available for use. I'd love to get the B model working though, sure would give us some more options in VH! :)

Haha, what we do is achievable by everybody if you're willing to put the time in mate :) It just takes a lot of patience and a lot dedication -

Hi wrmiller19, This P-51 is certain to be a big step up but, and I promise you, this Mustang can be tamed! Sure, at first, it's a little complicated for people who have never flown a high fidelity simulator - the fact that you have flown the accusim version may prove to be beneficial for you when mastering the various procedures. There are plenty of people around, myself included, who will be willing to give you helping hand to get you started flying the P-51 in DCS. She's a beautiful bird and, once you've gotten past 1 or 2 'quirks', you'll love her! I know I post this video around way too much, but this was after a week of flying the first beta version of the sim. I'm sure you'll get the hang of it! -
