its terrifying in a fight honestly. I have reached for the eject handle more than once. the extra weight of the helmet is actually a bit of a challenge to get used to but adds more than I expected to the experience. does get a little warm at times though I partly blame where I live. but it does feel really good while playing

the issue is it is up to the mission makers to provide that is the general argument. and players with less time are subject to their rules (personally like that idea) and forced to start cold instead of choosing and is something that bms does solve unless server removes the option by allowing players to choose their start state. cold, ready to taxi, or on the runway. but not in dcs

HA! funny you should say that... actually trying to fix my uncle's old flight intercom box to power the mic so I can use that too. headphones work as they are with the pc though. just had to build an adapter to the standard headphone plug (finding the .206" ports was a bit tricky and I actually need find new parts. adapter I built got lost in the move)

the way I look at it: I get not everyone wants to sit around waiting for the ins. but when I first found DCS (back when was just the ka 50) it was about learning how to fly the planes and work the systems as would be done in real life. I love learning the systems and doing stuff the right way but Im by no means a "full realism" guy. theres more than a few things I know I dont do by the book for my own convenience brings me to another point of this that seems to be easily overlooked. so what are the actual pilots doing during the INS alignment? everyone seems to just want to go straight into the fight and not have to set up the plane or think while waiting for the ins you are doing absolutely nothing. if you are doing nothing you are probably doing it wrong or missing something potentially important. my choice would be setting up the waypoints and running various checks or just reviewing the mission or even better, watching the map to get a battlefield picture which could be really important in large scale servers that you would not get just doing a fast align and go. you are entitled to your request which is fine and I have no issue with that. but there are uses for that time both realistically and practically making it a non issue aside from training/aerobatics is mostly what im saying. also from what ive seen if the SHA is allowed then the alignment finishes in under 3 mins since at a little under 2 it just jumps up several steps a few times instead of the slow crawl. so we already have a faster align method

*hides his HGU-55P that works with his pc as headphones*

I havnt had a noticeable perfomance impact from mirrors in a long time. and thats mostly in vr. so im sure they will be fine. also dont think the mirrors are working any different than in other planes so should be a similar impact to other things you have maybe a bit more because theres more to render. also frames are not the best thing to ask other people for. its an ok ish reference if you know what they have and you have a near identical setup but everyone has a different setup and lots of factors including other software and free drive space can effect frame rates. no noticeable drop for person a could leave person b with severe drops.

also this happened. not sure if because jester was uncomfortable being locked, or if he knew DD was flying https://clips.twitch.tv/HonorableHorribleTigerRlyTho

well it is true since thats what happened. cant really tell me it didnt when you werent there. hand on the stick apply gentle pressure and it stopped giving ffb so stick just slams to the stop with nothing to resist it. making my poor helo pitch over to the dirt instead of slowly moving forward like I wanted. happened several times and I eventually gave up
-
honestly I love the idea of ffb but are the sticks using it actually any good? the ones ive seen (ms sidewinders) are all really old and partly dont work and the ffb kept shutting off and kicking back in making it near unusable. I know why we havnt seen more of them but the sticks seem to be a poor choice for most dcs things where you kinda need/should have those extra buttons/hats. personally its a good idea but hard to find a GOOD working stick worth getting and using over my warthog. I did buy a yoke for my civil sims that works well when it wants to but most of the stuff I fly arnt compatible with the software or I have to change control setups in various aircraft to make it work so I usually dont bother using it. point being I understand the frustration of not having supported ffb but the gains typically arnt worth the effort or limitations that come with it. so I am curious what sticks you find that are actually good for this.

agreed. make the gestures practical. plus gives the rio something to see the pilot do during startup since rio is mostly waiting on engines and tests anyway

understandable. just shoot me a pm sometime if you want to schedule something. and if work comes up and cant do it then np can try again later.

[FIXED INTERNALLY] AWACS not contributing to datalink
tekrc replied to tekrc's topic in Bugs and Problems
odd... -
I know how that goes. I have a target range mission thats fairly low threat but good for getting used to stuff. im really patient and wouldnt mind flying you around while you try things out

this actually reminds me a bit of Tomcat Alley was a bit more an interactive movie than a game but I tried playing it with no idea how to evade since I never had the manual for it and could never get past the 5th engagement as a result. can watch the whole playthrough on youtube though. got a few decent clips in there. also worth watching is silent steel. though more a choose own adventure book in video form than action game. felt similar enough to mention

[FIXED INTERNALLY] AWACS not contributing to datalink
tekrc replied to tekrc's topic in Bugs and Problems
so for the tankers, should be kept between 37-64 or 100-126? and here I thought D/L would be a simple improvement. but wow that is cutting out a LOT of the tacan channels available. guess you can just turn off d/l when you need to use them but still a bit of a drag -
this has been discussed a few times before. no. the ai pilot is very basic at least for now. can maintain headings and altitudes but not a whole lot else

[FIXED INTERNALLY] AWACS not contributing to datalink

changing the tanker tacans to 30 and 35x fixed the issue and still gives distance. now datalink flows and I still get my tankers! thanks for that -

wait what? how does 2 tankers with tacan frequencies stop the datalink? I mean if only we had one tanker that could do boom and drogue I wouldnt have this problem... -
[NO BUG] blank stripe through left display page info
tekrc replied to tekrc's topic in Bugs and Problems
so even though theres nothing written on the right side it blanks it out anyway? sounds like a bit of a design flaw to me -
when trying to document a different issue I notice the data readouts on the left display become obstructed by what seems to be nothing

you mean this (first image "eplrs.png")? its on. you can convert my track to a .miz and see the way it is set up. also as evidence a second screenshot after loading in showing the lack of awacs or data on the sa page with data on and contacts appearing so the page is working and works when I have another hornet on the network so it is not an issue with datalink itself. -

I would call 2 additional people having the same problem being able to reproduce the issue but hey thats just me I guess. well time to spend my evening rebuilding the mission from scratch again -
