  1. hangar spawn would be much better than the current waiting to spawn message when theres no room. use it as overflow and let players spawn and be moved to the top deck by crew as space there is made available. gets people at least in the game and loaded while waiting for space.
  2. this is amazing! only thing to add would be a way to re-enable the static aircraft when someone leaves the slot. didnt see that happening

    Recovery Tanker

I would like to see this as something that can happen dynamically. call atc if fuel is dangerous to send up ai tanker. theres a carrier script that has this but kinda tricky to set up and would be nice to have just built in without taking up a parking slot from the players
  4. Performance will be different for every system and depends on settings, hardware, system load from background tasks... It's impossible to say how well anything will run on your specific system.
  5. personally I like the idea of voice attack in this case. my current complaint is theres still the issue of being blinded by the menu when I use it. but given there are only a few direct button assignable jester commands and stt lock (being the important one I think) isn't one of them, I compromise here. but that's actually all I use it for is the stt lock command. other stuff I can live with the menu since unless in wvr there's time to use the menu. and if in wvr, you can use acm modes to lock. plus I'm on the free version of va being limited to 20 commands. but its in no way a replacement for a person who can react way faster and have a better idea of what you actually want them to do. plus can do stuff like change the scan area on their own which is a bit clunky with jester on a good day. the new ability to tell him to search altitude at a range is nice but is something he should be doing on his own when there are datalink contacts I think.like he iff's on his own. now he just needs to search on his own
  6. suddenly I have the mental image of an f14 with round inlets and spikes similar to the sr71. but sized appropriately and blended into the body shape of course. not a TERRIBLE mental picture but not something I thought id ever imagine
  7. I made a trap calculator sheet but theres some hidden values to the numbers making it inaccurate with large remaining payloads. also some racks currently dont have a weight while others do but it gets you close enough with a typical return load and tells you how much fuel you need to burn to get under weight. though the issues I mentioned which I go over more in a thread I posted make me hesitant to publicize the spreadsheet
  8. no. like many things can only be done from rio pit
  9. how do I make it do a new alignment? if I land and go back to the align option, it just sits there telling me it is complete. entering the coordinates again like the manual seemed to hint at did not start a new alignment either
  10. I know that and never said drift didnt matter... what doesnt make sense to me is why I need to shut down the whole plane again instead of just doing the align over to get a stored heading to save. I dont see why one cant land, get the new heading aligned, shut down, and have the stored heading.
  11. that doesnt make any sense. if a heading can be stored, it shouldnt matter if its just after aligning or after flying
  12. I'm sure this applies to other things as well. this is just what I tested so far and found. glad to help though!
  13. so just land, parking brake on, turn ins to off and heading is stored automatically?
  14. I know about the option in the ME to start with a pre stored heading. not what I mean. how do I after a flight, store the heading for a future alignment? (my group takes breaks mid mission sometimes so this would be helpful if one of us stops for dinner or whatever)
  15. you could... but at that point youve wasted 45 secs to just turn on the displays a second time while the pilot just sits there waiting.
  16. can I get the part I need then? the file I downloaded (now 3 times) uses the "old naming convention" and I dont see a newer version than 1.2.1 which is what I got
  17. that load sheet helps to a point but those numbers dont match what gets added to the aircraft in dcs. aim 7 adds 626lbs on a glove station and 507 in the tunnel. that means the glove launcher for the aim 7 is that difference in weight which IS being added by dcs so I have that value for the glove and tunnel. even using those numbers the calculations are still wrong by a little at first then a lot. this means this is not the entire number. just the whole number. also note it only seems to have a weight for certain launchers. the aim 54 pylons which are on the cat in an empty config do not effect the weight at all if you remove them. but the pylons when you put them on the glove stations do as the plane has a different total weight just by loading to the glove vs tunnel another example is the aim 9 doesnt add a launcher for 8a and 1a but those values still dont match when adding more than one which was the first example. the given numbers are incomplete making accurate calculation impossible with a margin of error of about 1400lbs for a typical payload which isnt very helpful
  18. I am trying to build a spreadsheet for calculating current weight to use for landing. all was going fine until I hit this snag. (also I am new to making spreadsheets so I may have missed something else) seems like the weights of weapons in dcs have a decimal value not shown to the player which makes sense but makes this complicated. for example when using the spreadsheet: empty weight 44040, load 1 aim9m (192 lbs) on 8a in mission editor, enter fuel and empty weight in calculator ME shows total weight of 44231 with no fuel, no gun, 1 aim 9. and my spreadsheet shows 44232 for the same load. a 1lb difference isnt bad, but if I load the 2 aim-54a mk60, 3 aim7, 2 aim-9, gun, 2x tanks, full fuel: ME shows total weight 69208 sheet shows 67738 for the same load 1,470lbs is a lot of error for using the numbers dcs gives me anyone know where I can get the full values for weights to use so I can get a decent calculation?
  19. also related, I took mine up to about the same alt with o2 off and once I started seeing the effects turned on o2 but they kept getting worse until I dropped down and climbed back up again
  20. or just more procedures than startup. Id like to be able to have him do pre landing/refueling and shutdown stuff too for example
  21. because you need to change the display mode to show ICLS needles. the ones you have up are probably the ACLS needles which stay centered unless you have a datalink to the carrier
  22. alternatively, try sweeping the wings back. nose should drop and make recovery way easier
  23. yes. so before the turn planes would align ins to track the turn, wait for the turn to finish and shut down again. if they dont do this they have to realign and lose the alert 5 ready state
  24. glad to help!
  25. except for the possibility of it over correcting and shutting itself off after falling out of the beam, yes. just have to watch the system basically
