  1. Simple facts. In general terms reliability, speed, and security are better over a wire. Networking 101. Out
  2. If there is a choice wired is certainly better. That being said a combo unit that provides both covers you fine as well. Out
  3. Meh. So would a gamepad but I wouldn't recommend it.;) Out
  4. Not at all. The CH at 199.30 +shipping (Provantage) for stick and throttle costs more and it is the only competitive product. Cougar price $177.70 +shipping (Provantage). http://www.provantage.com/thrustmaster-2960534~7THRU00U.htm Absolutley true. No fear. Out
  5. Don't talk crazy.....30 bucks......If that is all you got stick it in a coffee can and wait till you save enough for a Cougar or CH. If you have a gameport and WinXP. I can sell you a TM Digital F-22 Pro and TQS in excellent working condition for lets say.......70USD plus shipping. Not compatible with Windows Vista/7 as gameports are not supported under these OS's. Out
  6. Have been following this title with interest. Hoping for a US release soon. Out
  7. Why on the ground of course.:P jk
  8. Make double sure you are logging in under the same account that you used when you purchased. My purchases were instant. Out
  9. AFAIK gains on the i7 platform are huge in applications but not so much with curent games/sims. These results are excellent! I wonder how much faster this system really is than say an E8600@ 4Ghz. From what I have read at TH where games are concerned there is little to no advantage in the newer platfrom for most current and past titles. Of course down the road the better architecture and true multiple core design will win out. When I am ready to buy a new system I will definitely be going with the i7 platform as it is the future. I know when I went from a Q6600 to the E8600 there was a dramatic improvement in performance. Very dramatic. Hitman could you possibly post up the title of an included stock mission in Black Shark that you use for testing along with your setings and FPS results? I would like to compare my results on the same mission and settings. Maybe I want one of these platforms and I do not even know it yet. ;) If there is a very pronounced difference I may just get one sooner rather then later, if not i will wait for the prices to settle more. Thanks for posting on this...very interesting. Out
  10. Congratulations on never having had to replace a POT on your CH Ghost. A whole host of Cougar owners that I know have had the same luck as you and have been happily flying their stock Cougars for years with out issue. Yes while all the HOTAS systems are 'toys" the Cougar is an all metal toy that feels real. CH and the others well, not so much. You will likely steer many less people to a CH after they put their hands on a Cougar. Once they do, the exageration of the Cougars supposed issues have much less effect. The trade off of having to open your stick twice a year to clean and re-grease is far outweighed for most by the all metal design, arcing throttle, standard analog rotatries and the less expensive price. All of which I might add are other good reasons to choose a Cougar over other brands IMHO. To each his/her own I suppose.;) Out
  11. I see your link and raise you one. http://www.provantage.com/thrustmaster-2960534~7THRU00U.htm Out
  12. Does really sound like a hardware or heat issue as others here have said. Test components. Check system/CPU/Graphics card fans for failure or clogging. Memtest the memory (will expose bad or failing memory). Rthdribl the video card (will expose heat issues/failing card). Test PSU if possible. (Shut down issues are often caused by failing PSU). Good luck.
  13. It is normally done in the control panel for your graphics card. For NVIDIA card alternate click on desktop or nviida icon in system tray, select "Nvidia control panel" Click on "manage 3D settings" . Here you can enable AA and AF globally or program specific. Hope this is helpful. Best of luck. Out
  14. I will say this again as I have said it 1000 times or more. It is a complete load of BS that you will need to do expensive mods your to your stock Cougar. Any small shortcomings you find can be addressed for very small money. (A few bucks). If you simply open the stick a couple times per year and clean and regrease it wear can be kept to a minimum without any mods at all. It only costs about 186 bucks shipped as well. This is much less expensive then the plastic/ABS alternatives. Do your self a favor and go try them. Put your hands on a CH, Saitek, Logitech, and Cougar. I am pretty sure you will choose the Cougar for what will be very obvious reasons once you touch one. Everything else feels and looks like a toy by comparison. This is the primary way in which most people are turned away from Cougars, by this idea that you need to spend hundreds to MOD it and that it is not a great HOTAS right out of the box. Well it is in fact great. You do not NEED to mod it. Try one and you will see. Out
  15. Rattler, Are you using any mods? What version LockOn are you running? Never heard of this one before. Out
  16. You need to set this up under the AXIS commands section in options>controls. Highlighted in green with red text on the drop down. In here you should be able to assign axis to your hearts content. Out
  17. Well Nero 9, Roxio, CloneDVD all work for me. Burn at full rated speeds as well. So it should for you. Been using SF protected titles forever x 4 systems w/dual boot installs. (4 burners upgraded over this time often). Nary an issue to be found when creating DVD's, CD's. Out
  18. New hardware plus starforce is not bad at all. Further it is doing exactly what it is designed to do on your new system. Your hardware has changed and does not match the hardware profile SF has generated a hash code for and you are out of activations. Simply ask them to email you a new activation code so you can have more activations. If you can not access the website/forums I am sure there is also a way to straighten that out with an email as well. Best of Luck and do not be detered, you will get it right I am sure of it. Out
  19. I have the NXT, 2 original Uber mods and an FSSB. All are fine for Black Shark. NXT springs do not break often at all and you can easily be prepared by purchasing a couple of extra springs just in case. Out
  20. Get over what? I posted in response to your rude and egotistical post both toward the people that are trying to help you and the creators of this wonderful simulation. If you think my post was for any other reason then your sadly mistaken. You were being rude and a "know it all" in the face of people trying to help you. And apparently you still are. Out
  21. Just tried that Yeni. No Joy. Like the first screen posted here though. Keep up the great work and thanks. Out
