Garbage in, garbage out: My UTM data entry in CDU is all messed up
HugePanic replied to Bahger's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I really hope this is not the way the Airforce Bombe its targets. JTAC: "Go 300miles two target!" Pilot: but thats so far way? I will not make it home for dinner then. Can i just simply bomb an other target 30miles way??" -
Generally there is a Cl_max value for any wing configuration. Maximum lift with maximum speed will give maximum acceleration or g's. Lift = cl * roh * 0.5 * v^2 * A A = wing surface Cl = coefficient of lift V= speed Roh = air density There are many factors that change that. -Wing configuration (load, flaps...) -AC weight -speed and mach number (not a big A-10 problem) max wing loading -temperatur -air density and altitude You will also loose lots of energy/sipped in high G curves. So you can pull a short high g-hook, or fly a long low-g curve unless speed es depleted. The A-10 is pretty underpowered, compared with other fighters. So generally: It is too complicated to be calculated by the pilot. Since that we have the beeper, that tells us what to do. In real life you have an build in high performance g-meter in your body, that helps flying the plane with maximum performance....

i usuall just press the ? button, THEN i go to the CDU and modify the waypoint. Name first, then coordiantes. If i remember right, in smerch-hunt the targets are not sooo precisely at the coordinate position, so you have to search....

here is a chart from a Bo-105 helicopter --> classical configuration with tail-rotor. it shows needed power over speed and indicated the most important factors: Tail-rotor, induced drag, parasitic-drag, profile+compression, "other" losses (right side, bottom to top) The power-levels are: Start-Power, max. endurance power, and endurance (route??) power (from top to bottom) As you can see, at about 120km/h (75mph) the required power is minimal, and should give the longest flight time for this helicopter....

by the way: the A-10 is not really what you think a Jet-Aircraft would be. It´s more like a jet-propelled Glider, especially fully loaded and fuelled..... :pilotfly:

Install the "no rudder trim" mod!!!
-
There is a "disappear" button in the mission editor. I assume it makes the unit dissapear in the a bris as well.
-
So why is this system installed?? Different booms in the past? Or is it for planes that have the boom connection not on the center-line??
-
by the way: does anybody know if the "Automated director light system for aereal refueling operations" is working?? http://www.google.de/patents?hl=de&lr=&vid=USPAT5904729&id=Xe8CAAAAEBAJ&oi=fnd&dq=kc-135+tanker+visual+system+approach&printsec=abstract

i programm the 5th mouse button to LCtrl+C. So i can switch pretty fast between clicking and viewing. This works pretty good.

i have download this one: http://files.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/59524/

SOI should change when you press the button to change the SOI. I assume you accidently touch your HAT-switch, or you have a wrong programming of your buttons.

Chech that there is no M in the HUD that indicates a masked laser....
-
Never had a problem with that: 1. Land 2. Taxi to ramp (optional) 3. Switch to internal com 4. Request rearming 5. Load DSMS stores
-
what about rearming??? i have just started the campaign, but it is usually not much more than 10minutes to fly home. Take your time, this is not a game...
-
by the way: if you feel that you are in a vortex-ring-state, try to move your position over ground. i usually break hard to left or right....
-
MMaybe this is just the DCS version of the "mav go mad" behavior. It seems to be an well known problem in the real life....
-
Mav lock on a bunker sie no problem. Check the River-RAider mission. I just use D-models only, since with H models i often had problems locking. Maybe this discussion has to respect the type of Mav. Maybe an IHR missile wont lock on a dead/cold target, but a TV missile will.
-
By the way: you should deactivate the rudder trimming. Hat makes it mich nm Tore easy two dly the ka-50.
-
Thats a good guide! I was thinking of making such a document. But just put everything in one table that i can print out and put on my desk....

-Take your time, use the fuel you are carrying -choose your orbit on the safe side of the fence !!!!! -use the ALT autopilot for orbiting -use the IR functionality of the TGP -take your time

generally speaking: there is power and there is drag there is weight and there is lift If all these are balanced right, you should be in an not-accelerated flight at an desired altituted and speed. there is an an flight envelope that tells you what the aircraft is capable to. for example. If you trimm your your loaded aircraft for 200kts at 10000feet. then press the emergency jettison button. you will decrease both weight and drag. your airplane will climb and go faster. if you just push the stick forward, you can maintain height, but will accelertate forward even more. to keep level and speed you always have to bring all these to balance.

I don´t find the list right now. I just know when i have an engine fire, i am almost never able to restart one of engines. It is stuck at 30% RPM. This seems to be a known bug, since the engine will not get repaired right. At the same time i found that, i also saw a list of "not repaired items". There i found the speed-probe... That seems reasonable, sind the STAT said that everything was good, but the speed was horrible wrong, as was the navigation stuff... To the EGI: i used a emergency checklist i found on here: http://www.perlundblad.se/3para/DCS%20Games/PDF/A-10C/25th_VFS_Checklists_Emergency_Procedures.pdf That says just to turn off the EGI and switch on HARS. But it doesn´t say how to navigate. Is TAD working? Can i trust the waypoints selectable in the HUD?
-
Hi, i had several times the EGI damaged due to AAA/SAM. So i did not get naviagion information on the TAD. The existing waypoints in the HUD were still available. To be sure i asked for a vector for RTB and got the plane repaired. After that, the STAT page said that all is good now. but somehow it wasn´t. The waypoints in the HUD showed a different location than the TGP (TGP look to waypoint). HUD display anyhow was weird. Both speed indication (hud + instrument) showed crappy information. The CDU seemed to work. (i don´t know all of the CDU´s functions, but it look good on the first view) I know that some system don´t get repaired (speed probe...). My question is: What to do if EGI is damaged? Do i have secondary systems that i can activate, and are there drawbacks? Do i have to abort the mission?? (without TAD, i have no map to navigate "manually" with compass and stop-swatch) Thank you

something to think about.... the TM warthog is only a 90% sollution Why is it missing twist-rudder funktion?? Why doesn´t it have force-feedback?? (i know that many modern aircraft don´t have a feeback in the stick, but in the real aircraft you have you butt in the seat that compensates that...) So maybe the throttle unit of the TM warthog in combination with a force feeback joystick with rudder and many hat-switches.... I personally are using a microsoft forcefeedback 2 joystick an a modified gamepad for my 90% sollution... Link
