I believe you can use helios from a different computer but you'll windows on you mac, running parallels would probably reduce the fps on the MBA so id recommend bootcamp, thats $200 for windows alone, you can get a second monitor for half that. Even with the mba you still wont have a touch screen so ud have to use the mousepad for that computer, i can see it being used as a CDU with helios mapping the CDU keys to the MBA's keyboard. My advice is get a touch screen or at least another monitor, MBA usually have small ssds so youd need to put at least 40gbs of that to windows and the bootcamp drivers n software. A shot in ghe dark would be to use air display to exrend the pcs screen into the mac but chances are it will nit work so good but may be worth a shot. Good luck!

Hey Belisarius, i know the feeling of starting to get a hang of the hog, as i will never start learning, here's my advice. Orbit the area and engage autopilot while you are focused on the TGP if you are still not comfortable engaging auto pilot while you are searching for a target, then monitor the icon on the bottom left of the TGP, it's like an ADI, see that you are flying straight and that you aren't pitching down, do a practice by just looking at some random target, pitch up and down, then look at that icon (sorry i don't know it's name) and see what it looks like when you are nose up and nose down and rolling, then that will help you later, it helped me a lot. Get used to using your HOTAS to the max, for example, when you see the NEW TASKING message, you can get rid of it by pressing TMS left short, and do that until you see the heading tape on the HUD. When you find the target also contact JTAC and send tell it CONTACT, then JTAC will tell you if it's your target or not. when you find the target do TMS up SHORT and set to POINT then do TMS up LONG to make it your SPI, then switch to maverick press CHINA HAT FWD LONG and the maverick will point straight to your target (as long as you are within sight) Also check your F10 on the comms menu in case there's a SEAD flight that can be called in (on the campaign there usually is) just make sure you are on the right frequency because once you call it once even if you are on a different frequency you can't call it again. Before entering the mission, click on MISSION PLANNER in between the FLY and BACK buttons there you can set your own payload to help you with the mission. I'm sure there's better advice than mine out there but that's how i've learned all this time, if you have any question just PM :-)

you need lock on to run flaming cliffs 2 which is the latest of them, you don't need flaming cliffs 1 though, You can get them here http://lockon.co.uk/index.php?end_pos=1322&scr=shop you'll need lock on to run Flaming Cliffs 3 when it comes out as well

Ive tried it with air display, its pretty bad, you get and skips all the time and then crashes tried its on ipad 2 i phone 4 and top of the line imac

Here's my set up from a few months ago using iControl DCS, Full version is $30 but there's a free version too, you will need a second monitor regardless for the MFD export otherwise they will show up on the main screen

World 1.2 with updated A-10C module. JTAC takes a while to answer (compared to 1.1 and to standalone) by that i mean up to 3 minutes for each question, then it get stuck on "Ready to copy remarks" as well. Also when I got stuck on ready to copy remarks then if i send the CHECKING OUT command it will answer me right away. I'm not sure if this is a reported bug but it's made it difficult to finish missions (because by the time JTAC answered the AI killed all targets) or even do them at all without the JTAC to tell me what to do. Last thing was that when JTAC does answer and you send the CONTACT command to confirm that's the target the command isn't sent at all. I will post a track tonight :-)

i'd be happy with a notification that says that a new patch is available or a new version is available and maybe you comment and rate each patch so others can see what's going on with it, just like there's that window that shows news same with updates and you can update right from world.

Yes, you can fly it but the training is only with video, the a-10c has the interactive training, there are some missions built in that are more for training purposes, click on missions then on the select box to the right pick su-25t and then look for the single player missions some are labeled as practic and they have text that shows up thru the missions telling you what keys to press and so on.

You need this http://files.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/206863/ unzip it and move the files to the root DCS WORLD folder as it says on the link :-) I would also suggest you buy the warthog though, believe me the experience is just like no other and the training missions that come with it are great to get you started, you just can't go wrong with the Warthog! :-D

make sure you have the latest version of the server, they just got updated and maybe that's what did it?

It crashed 2 times i tested it both were with the CBU-97 and they were being used in ccip mode when they crashed, in CCRP no crash

If anything i can see having 1 vehicle drivable for free per mission or something but not the whole thing for free, i do see your point on wanting more people to be a part of the game and having people controlling the tanks and so on.

i kinda miss the original lock on music.... well noise... that does bring memories
