[REPORTED] Fw 190 Cockpit Bar! (answer Post #173)
MA_Goblin replied to Krupi's topic in DCS: Fw 190 D-9 Dora
@Pizzicato: You never attended the "banana" forum back in the days then ;) Welcome to the world of long and glorious debates regarding WWII birds! -
Hi mates, I'm sticking my neck out here but this is my two cents. There are too many free planes in the release. Change this to just ONE plane f.e. the P47 together with the DCS 1944 download. All other planes should be to buy for non pledger's. This way there's an incentive to pledge because otherwise it'll cost more when they discover how good it is after they've downloaded the F2P game and flown the ONE bird that's in there for free. Then set a price tag of $35 for each single engine fighter, $ 45 for twin engine and $65 for the B17 (and Lancaster :music_whistling:). I bet that this is a model that everyone could unite behind. So start a new kickstarter after this one with the changes implemented and clean up the pledge rewards so that all not valid ones get removed.

Take a look at Star Citizen, a ship plus game access can be $100 and up easily so $100 for the B17 I'd say is a fair price since it is more complex than the fake spaceships in SC.

[REPORTED] Fw 190 Cockpit Bar! (answer Post #173)
MA_Goblin replied to Krupi's topic in DCS: Fw 190 D-9 Dora
The problem is when the bottom of the glass and frame obstructs the view in the Revi. That's what happened before and that how it might be now. I have a hard time believing that Kurt Tank would have made the design as obstructing the sighting device. -

The FW190 series has a slant from the cockpit to the nose. The pit sits higher in the fuselage providing a very clear view over the cowling in flight and combat. Hopefully whne I receive my data from the German archives it should be clear -

MA_Goblin replied to Krupi's topic in DCS: Fw 190 D-9 Dora
Yes but since the "bar" is hardly visible in the pic from above it shouldn't be visible from the seated position! It's more of what I said that the padding is higher than the window frame and thus shouldn't be visible unless you raise the seat position. Never mind, we'll see what it'll look like when in beta/alpha :D EDIT:I spell horrible today :( -
Since the kickstarter wont yield any more money (I think) i hope that RRG will make the aircraft anyway and put them up for sale as DCS does with all other planes in the inventory. $40 bucks per plane as all other planes will probably cover the development or what do you think?

OK, this is a picture from the front and slightly above, from this point it's quite obvious that the pilot has a clear view through the revi and that the "cushion" is more of an obstruction than the bar as far as I can see. And just for my own interest I've ordered the blueprints and manuals for the D9 from the German archives as well. Beeing an engineer with military background I have a need to know this kind of stuff :) Sorr I'm a nerd LOL. -

It does slope away from the pit. Look at the pictures I inserted. -

The nose don't affect that much since the cockpit sits a wee bit higher than the engine cowling. According to my documentation and pilot comments it was a pain in the *** to taxi on the ground but in the air had a very good view all around giving a high SA on the combat. -

@cichlidfan: It's areal pain in the *** to have that bar when trying to acquire a firing solution and a leading shot. On the other hand since we don't know how it will look when ready it might not be as bas as the old "bar" :) -

MA_Goblin replied to Krupi's topic in DCS: Fw 190 D-9 Dora
@Bongodriver: No it's not correctly rendered in game because the game can'r handle the physics of refraction! It's like when you stand above water and poke a long stick into it, you'll see that when it breaks the surface it'll "bend" away under water. The same here, the real armored glass is so thick that the bar isn't visible when looking through the glass. This is a case where they should have disregarded the drawings because it comes out incorrect. -

MA_Goblin replied to Krupi's topic in DCS: Fw 190 D-9 Dora
@Sobek: This is an old "beaten horse" from way back in IL-2. The plane is modelled with an incorrect "bar" at the bottom of the armored glass that blocks revi view and lead shooting just over the front of the plane. It's a bit funny to see that it is back, apparently, even though all those years of producing drawings and stuff :) Well we hav'nt seen the finished product yet but convinced that we'll have as fierce debate over this here as on the old banana forum more than a decade ago :D By jove it feels good to be back mates ;) -
I don't think that's how he meant it to come out though. But I agree the words could have been chosen more wisely! // Regards

Next DCS (European) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
MA_Goblin replied to Busterbvi's topic in DCS Core Wish List
My choice would be: SAAB JA37 VIGGEN SAAB JAS 39 Gripen (still to classified to be possible me think) Harrier AV8B The reason for the JA37 is that our air force has played cat & mouse with the old Soviet air force the entire cold war over the Baltic :pilotfly: This calls for a northern Europe map in EDGE as well :music_whistling: -
@Haukka81: No not yet.
-
@Flim Really nice work. Masterpieces I'd say. Since I live in Sweden it costs to much to ship something like that. Would You care to sell plans to cut and build at home? Best regards. Håkan

UPDATE 2: Problem solved, somehow the update triggered a request for activation of the CA module again. After doing that all is fine. I seem to be the only one affected so no problem probably :D
-
UPDATE: It seams as it is the Combined Arms module that request activation not any other but it pops up every time I try to run anything so I mistook it for activation on the other modules. Would be interesting to know why this happened though? Well I'll try to activate DCS CA again and see if it disappears :)
-
I've disconnected everything except keyboard and mouse but everytime in every module when entering them after DCS World has started I get a request for activation. If I click exit I can fly the module but I don't know if anything is affected. I've tried to repair and every time I do that it downloads and install something but nothing changes. This is a real bummer :(

Hi, The latest update broke my activations somehow. Everytime I try to start the sim I now get the request for activation. Any ideas?
