  1. Oui, bonne chance et bon courrage st tous ca avec Bill et John.
  2. Thanks, Mizzy. Yes, the flight modeling in Lock On is good. In fact it beats the default Microsoft aircraft in my opinion. I would recommend anyone new to flight simming to start with the LOMAC A-10 or Su-25. That MSFS Cessna 172 is a swine to fly accurately.
  3. These really are hidden gems in Lock On. If you haven't tried out some missions with these, and similar, weapons give them a go as the graphics, etc are first rate. or if you want the bigger WAV file http://www.dpsflight.com/OperationLucan_0002.zip I'm now looking for some feeble excuse to build a mission with the P-500 or the Kh-22 Kitchen.
  4. Operation Lucan features a fictional war in which you fly a Russian Federation Air Force Su-27 against British, French and Turkish adversaries. The mission file is here http://www.dpsflight.com/Su27OLucan.htm And there is also a short video Streamed version And WMV file http://www.dpsflight.com/OperationLucan_0002.zip Operation Lucan Summer 1997. The Second Crimean War has entered its 4th year and the combined armies of France, Great Britain and Turkey have occupied most of the peninsular. Two days ago the pride of the Russian Navy, the carrier Kuznetzov left the port of Sochi and has had some success in disrupting the enemy’s supply lines with its P-700 anti-ship cruise missiles. However, the Turkish Navy guided-missile Destroyer Mustafa Natha has entered the Black Sea to protect the convoys. In addition to this, French Air force Mirage 2000 fighters are patrolling the area and have been able to intercept the P-700s. You are to lead a pair of Russian Federation Air Force (VVS) Su-27 fighters from the 1054th Fighter Aviation Regiment flying out of Anapa Air Base. Your task is to intercept the Mirage fighters that have been on CAP (Combat Air Patrol) east of the shipping lanes at SP5. This will allow our navy to deal with the Mustafa Natha. The mission will not be considered complete until the destroyer and all enemy air threats have been eliminated. 10:45 Hrs. You and your wingman are ready to depart when the Early Warning Station at Blagoveschenskaja detects bandits approaching from the west. Start engines immediately and intercept the inbound threat and then proceed to complete the main task. Weather fine, sky clear. Temperature 25 deg. An A-50 AWACS will be on station south of south-west of Novorossijsk shortly after you get airborne.
  5. Here's a little tutorial I put together on how to use the Kh-41, with a soothing female voiceover and some of the fastest mission editing you are ever likely to see. There is a streamed preview here http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=204728262332750501 But you may need the full version to make out the HUD, etc. http://www.dpsflight.com/AntiShipMission_0001.zip It might not be as popular as my 'NDB tracking for FS9' but may be of interest for some of the newcomers to LOMAC.
  6. C'est merveilleux!! Godard, Truffaut, Chabrol et Rohmer manger tout son soûl. Hope that makes sense. This is the best story telling, editing, effects, etc talent I've seen in the area of flight simulator videos. Hope that you chaps are also doing some real world movie work and not just limiting yourselves to Lock On. Bravo, bien fait DPS.
  10. Looking forward to the return of Bensky & Mutch. I still have their KC-10/F-15 caper on my HD. They prove beyond all doubt that content, humour, etc will always win over mindless special effects laden jets-chasing-jets videos.
  11. Its hard to get all the info into a four minute video, but hopefully it provided a bit of a taster on the subject. There's lots more about RWS and SAM avoidance on pages 183 and 222 of the manual. Or why not just set up a SEAD strike and let someone else get shot at - provided they find ALL the sites!
  12. Here’s a little tutorial/movie illustrating a couple of useful manoeuvres on how to avoid become a SAM kill. There is a streamed/low resolution version on Google Video here http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3531178879920147450 But if you want to be able to read the TEWS icons, etc you will have to d/l the WMV http://www.dpsflight.com/SAMevasion_0001.zip Hope it is of interest to some of you. 13. I decided to undertake a scientific study to determine which air combat sim produces the biggest explosions. F4AF won hands down as regards TNT equivalent, but I think Lock On’s looked best. The results are illustrated in this 2 min video. WARNING contains scenes of warfare and dodgy editing. Here's the preview/easy download Google Video streamed version: http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...22583139724023 And here's the link to the higher resolution WMV file: http://www.dpsflight.com/ExplosionGraphics_0001.zip DPS.
  14. I was in the RAF (Photographic Branch) for nearly four years after I left school. The RAF is a lot smaller these days and I understand that it's a lot harder to get in to. If you are University material the RAF may fund your studies (or they certainly used to). And there is also the UAS if you are a budding pilot/leader. Good luck.

  16. Gaizokubanou - weapon dropped from 7,500'. Big mistake, pilot evaporated. Pilotasso, you'r right. You know what they say in F4AF: 'Never, ever get out of the cockpit - you won't like what you see'. I must revisit IL2 sometime soon. I seem to remember strafing a column of vehicles and seeing figures jumping out and running for cover. A nice touch. On balance though Lock On's fire/explosions look better, especially if a strong breeze has been set in the options.

  18. Good one, Hawg11. Look Ma! No life!! The last one with the 'brat strike' might not be Lock On, but it made me smile.
  19. Well flown, Corsair7662. ARM505, I've never seen a formation ejection before.
  20. I'd like to know how that very broken F-15 got back to base - is it an IDF aircraft?
  21. Some great contributions there. Thanks. Here's one I remember as a cartoon in a aviation magazine from years ago. Unfortunately, I couldn't do the image in Lock On - needed a two seater.
  22. Just been pointed out to me that the above image isn't that funny as having an AGM-65 slam into your wheels does happen to people in real life in some parts of the world today. Oh dear.
  23. I can feel a competition coming on. I have neither the time nor patience to get a good result from 3D modelling – and I wouldn’t dream of asking anyone to build me a top notch Harrier (conventional T/O, VTOL not required) or Jaguar. What would be a reasonable prize in exchange for someone spending dozens of hours hunched over a hot PC building a Buccaneer or suchlike?
  24. I'd like to replace one of my Russian types with a really smart looking Jaguar, Harrier or Tornado F3 so that I could build some missions with an RAF theme. Any of you modellers up for it?
  25. Is there more to Lock On than jets chasing jets, dropping bombs, firing missiles, campaigns, movies, etc? How about some humour? Let me start with this little offering:
