  1. We need better buffeting effects for the non-FFB users. For one, msffb2 has insanely short throw, and i rather use my long throw modded Warthog. The cockpit buffeting is a welcome, but it's useless while tracking bandits and the cockpit is not in view. We need something like sound feedback...
  2. The warthog doesn't have an expansion port so the cougar throttle must be connected to the cougar stick in order to work. The cougar throttle can not function by itself. If you don't have a Cougar stick, then you must gut the throttle's base and replace the innards with something like BU0836X.
  3. Hi Richard, The circuit board inside the Warthog is just 3 daisy chained shift registers (CD4021). They are common, well documented and easy to read data from, see my post at simhq.com on the pin output. http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3741152/Warthog_Cougar_Pin_out_informa#Post3741152
  4. I've been running my engine during combats at mid-high red line for a while now, so far no seizures!
  5. What sort of damage? Sensor damage? Besides, there is just not enough speed penalty from fully opened radiator during a T&B fight. Also, Heat builds up insanely fast, and I'd rather not have the slow moving radiator flaps trying to catch up.
  6. If you have a cougar or warthog throttle, you can map them to one of the toggle switches. Actually, any non-momentary switch will work.
  7. You are welcome :) With couple runs of practice, 15 knots is very possible... Edit: I uploaded the video carrier.trk p51_carrier_landing.miz
  8. I made a mission to do this for fun. I have the carrier set at 15knots and landing is very possible at that speed.
  9. I also find that in addition to being more trigger happy, the Expert AI also turns more aggressively.
  10. Nope, it's no longer a Thrustmaster or Saitek device. The pots are connected to U-HID Nano (a USB controller).
  11. Do what I did! Purchase a set of Thrustmaster RCS (not the Elite version) pedals from eBay, and mod it. Metal construction, pretty solid feeling.
  12. exterior shell? My heels rest on the plates that are directly attached to the pedals, while my arches rest on the pivots (the textured pipes). Very comfy. The whole set up turns much smoother than Saitek's base. You get a lot more travel distance so flying feels more accurate. Using UHID also means the pot outputs are no longer jittery (something inherent in all saitek boards).
  13. Thrustmaster or Saitek? Ha, why not both?! :)
  14. Order a tube of nyogel 767A, regrease everything... No sticktion whatsoever... The F15/F18 grip doesn't look as nice as the F16/A10 grip though...
  15. Hey sapper, I went ahead and did a probe of the the min-din 5 connector on the Warthog/Cougar grips and made a post about it on simhq... You may find it useful down the line if you want to make your own controller boards... http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3741152#Post3741152
  16. I mapped the absolute head vertical position to my micro stick in the axis assign section. This way when I am shooting while pulling/pushing hard, I can bring the gun sight into view without stretching my neck like a giraffe . I also had to tweak the saturation a bit so that movements are limited.
  17. I think you may be able to simplify this set up if you can code. Warthog grip is basically 3 shift registers (CD4021BCM) inside. Since FLCS and Warthog/Cougar are pin compatible I think you may be able to get a Teensy running in HID mode and have the grip directly communicate with it instead of hauling a warthog base around... There are couple CD4021BCN arduinos tutorials around, I don't know the pin outs for Warthog/Cougar grip though...
  18. See: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1662489&postcount=13 The Tacview track is the zip file, since we are not allowed to upload an actual TACview file.
  19. Nope, during a head on, if you shoot at him first, he won't shoot at you for that merge . This is how I defeat the AI every time, you can see it in the tracks I've posted. Of course, your shots must be relatively close to him. Also: 1G is pretty off, AI will shoot at you even you are pulling 2-3G, or else they won't be able to take snap shots at you during scissors. Rolling + pulling seems to be effective at preventing them shooting though.
  20. Wa? Never said anything about AI shouldn't be fixed - my point was simply if the p51 AI seems too hard right now, don't be discouraged, shoot other easier planes for a change...
  21. i already tried- but I can't get used to the short throw of MSFFB2, since I've been using an extended Warthog. I don't care so much for the variable spring pressure or even the trim positions, it's just the shake that I really want... It's a shame that we don't get audio feedback, I don't think buffeting events are exportable either...
  22. Oh i got a MSSFB2, in the closet :) Once you go Warthog, you don't go back :) I probably will hook my driving wheel again, that'd way I'd still some sort of shaking feedback - but I'd loose the trim though :-(
  23. Hehe, the moment you said that it is very communicative, i suspected you were flying with FFB, because the plane is not very communicative about stalls when there is no FFB. The added visual buffetting is a welcome, but still not good enough when the cockpit is not in view when dog fighting....
  24. Another tip, if you are so sick of fighting and losing to the P51D ai right now, try to set up a mission with the L39ZA instead - they are much much easier to take down. You out turn and out accelerate them pretty quickly.
  25. This is the modified 1 vs 1 mission with the AI set to excellent. General points for medium/low attitude fights: Open your rads manually Keep the speed up to cool engine Turn at > 200mph, keep looking at the speedometer! Horizontal scissor seems to work very well, use combat flaps when you have speed Shoot first at merge, it'll scare the the AI to not fire! I can't figure out how to actually beat the AI energy wise, so I just learn how to out gun him :) In the first few minutes, i actually lost the ai due to sun glare, so if i looked aimless, it is because I was :) p51d-1vs1-ai-excellent.zip 1vs1hard.trk
