Saitek X52 zoom question
David A Sell replied to rss0900's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
sand - I used to get horrible bounceing in my zoom on that rotory, both in LOMAC and BS I tried for months to find a fix, sadly the only thing that ever fixed it was a clean re-install of windows, Not sure if yours is as bad as mine but when tryin to visual id a target 6k away it was maddening enough to warrent a re-insall :) -
Saitek X52 zoom question
David A Sell replied to rss0900's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I also have the x52 and use the thumb rotory wheel to zoom, mine works great, not to fast or too slow, I set it in the axis commands to ZOOM VIEW and set it as JOY RX all this is in the black shark key settings, not SST programming. try this and you should be fine -
I get a good decent ping on ka50.com server, its always up never passworded and there are usually a few peeps on there working togetehr. they also have a TS server always up. look for munny I'll fly with ya

yes, that is the case if there is no Hardware changes I believe

I dont really agree tangoRomeo , I got vista basic 64 for under $100.00, and although i dont know the release date for 7 I think its near then end of this year, i hate to deprive myself of the extra power vista offers at that price. I guess it depends on your machine, in my case I had 5 gigs of ram and 3 cores that were not being utilized at all so It was a no brainer. Also I think I will wait for at least a few months after 7 release to let them get the kinks worked out, seems like new OS's have a bit of hiccups at the beginning. Just depends on what your willing to spend... Side note, anyone know what the price of 64bit 7 is expected to be?

Hi guys - I had debated for a while about putting Vista on my machine, had heard such terrible things about it, little driver support, XP is rock solid, ect. I bit the bullet and installed and am here to report WOW. just hoping some people who may be on the fence go ahead and take the plunge. I am AMAZED at the improvement I get in BS, its almost like a differnt game. I went from 12-15 fps over a busy airbase to 35-40 ! and over open country skys the limit. I think vista is a must have to take advantage of this game.

I have had long time issues with My X52 "bouncing" on the rotorary wheels. It would kind of jump up and down slightly makeing my view "bounce" in and out slightly (rotory was bound to zoom view) I tried everything and eventually just lived with it, but the other day I wound up doing a fresh install of windows on my shiney new TB hard drive and the problem no longer exsists. Extreme no doubt but may solve your problem

I Did a search and read several posts about using the affinity tool to run BS on multiple cores. It was said that this is not possible in XP. I read a bit on the internet about some ways to patch XP to use multi core.. So my question is Is this still true that XP can not take advantahe of multi cores in DCS? If not Im going to buy vista, and need to know if the home basic 64bit version will be all i need to take advantage of dx10, 8gigs ram, and quad core support. Thanks

multi monitor picture request !
David A Sell replied to hannibal's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
just read thru this thread (whew!) and am wondering, I have two 22' lcds that are the same brand, and I want to run the abris and shikval on one. I noticed a few people talking about framerate hits when doing this... Do yall think I would be ok running that witha 9950quad core and a 9800gtx? Its not a pain now to zoom in on these things, and i guess I would rather zoom in than take a performance hit, but It sure would be cool to have the 2ed monitor. Thanks -
Adding voice to tracks
David A Sell replied to David A Sell's topic in User Created Missions General
just a bump.. hopeing someone knows a workaround -
Is there any simple way to add voice to track files like you could in Lockon? I searched and found this thread http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=596789#post596789 but was hopeing for somthing a bit easier, and I dont think that method would help what I want to do anyway. Thanks

here is a simple track of a short flight and an AA lock up and kill. I couldnt figure how to add voice to it but you can still watch the procedure for the most part. I get to the target area, aquire visual on the chopper, get the reticule close, work the shikval over him, and then launch. Smallest shikval box possible, and i Always aim for just below the rotors. Hope it helps aatrainng.trk

awsome thanks.. After i read the abris section of the menu I was looking for a external targeting panel, which confused me. Time to start reading again...

Hiya guys Getting used to flying online but had a question. It seems like some fellows i was playing with were checking to make sure they were on the same frequency (like 127.48) so they could see each other on the abris. I think it was automaticly set up to do this if both guys stared on the same color wing (mission overlord or somthing on the ka50.com server) anyway listening to them it sounded like it was possible to change your "squak" freqrency in case you both started in different attack groups ect. to match and see the other helo on your abris. Question I have is a) is it possible b) if so where can you suggest i read about it? or is it just as simple and typing the numbers and hitting an IDENT button? thanks guys

there is a way to get really close and then lock with padlock view, ect. it was discussed in depth in a post a month ago or so, im looking for it here is the post SPOLIER ALERT for mission in deployment campagin... fair warning http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=38074&highlight=padlock good luck

For guys that do a lot of virtual flying the boys over at http://www.vatsim.net/ do some really cool, immersive stuff for FSX/FS9. I know its wishful thinking but sure would be cool if there was a virtual atc like they are doing now in fsx in the future DCS modules. Imagine a multi game with both jets and helos talking to a real person in the tower. anyway if you are into FSX check out the vatsim stuff, very very cool

I had the same problem untill I realized I had drank too many beers and it was my head that was bobbing and not the shark...:P
-
Im no expert, but i know the black shark is not an A2A platform, that said... it is possible to lock up and get missile kills on enemy helos with the shckval , and the same with cannons, tho it seems if you get close enough for the cannon the enemy is already peppering you with cannon fire.(this is all based on in game action only of course) Let the fast movers take care of the skies and we just move mud :)

I know everyone hates starforce, but i have never had a problem with it at all, (got LOMAC when it released) and having it on my machine dosent bother me in the least
-
I started out this sim in full realism mode, and without those execllent tutorials I never would have gotten off the ground... Sounds like this guy would rather play desert strike on genisis lol to each they're own I guess

Can't settle yaw when auto hovering? Bizarre behavior
David A Sell replied to kratz's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I find that if i trim out to minimize all movement and then hit auto-hover i get much better results, was having similar issue as you. -
Oops found my answer

problem on mission ON THE OTHER SIDE
David A Sell replied to David A Sell's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Thanks all, It was me not turning on engine de-ice that caused the problem. After that it was no sweat to get over the mountains, although the fight waiting on the other side took a few tries... -
That is the correct file path, and it does work as I had done it a few days ago when i diddnt realisze reset pilot means start campagain over! No way was i going to do the fam flight a third time :)
