Is this still broke? How can we have a transport helicopter with no way of transporting troops?

This would be a great addition...
Apocalypse31 replied to Apocalypse31's topic in DCS: Combined Arms
But other units like Riflemen and Automatic riflemen cannot even be commanded in combined arms without scripts. I wish we had a first person model for those units - even if it was a primitive, Delta Force 1 model. It would be better than nothing. -
DCS Infantry Dust UdU9L0AOnaM a63RMH9JBmE I've never seen a shooter that goes into so much depth over the operation of a rifle. Not sure I'd pick up Dust, but it would be a well-fitting DCS module.

Found a huge issue on my part today, regarding the Logitech ExPro3d and the collective throttle. The default calibration only uses the upper 50% of the throttle. Up until today I was using only a small bit of the throttle to control collective. It made even minor adjustments huge in-game corrections. I went ahead and recalibrated using the entire throttle knob and now collective adjustments are much easier. Also, been flying the hell out of the bird. Finding that the cyclic of the UH1 responds very similar to a fixed wing aircraft in that I can control vertical movement using cyclic more, with less adjustments to collective.

Re-keyed collective to manual throttle on my Logitech and tweaked the curve a bit (20). Works like a charm, but damn, the Huey is a sensitive bird that requires constant collective management.

Initially I used the collective throttle on the Logitech. It's a pain in the butt because you have to physically reach across your body to control the throttle. I will relook it, try to tweak it so that one little movement doesn't turn me into a flaming lawn dart. However, I still feel that there's input delay with the collective. I find it hard to believe that there's delay on collective adjustments in real life. Maybe I'm wrong. Never piloted a RW, only a passenger.

Just picked up the UH-1, and surprisingly I was able to jump right in (cheat) start and fly around. While I'm not as good of a pilot as I am in ArmA, I dont think I'm doing that bad...for a DCS beginner. My only issue is that the in-game collective feels much different than ArmA, in that it is somewhat laggy - what I mean is that when I make adjustments there's usually a few seconds between making the adjustment and seeing the adjustment take place. This makes things like precision landing nearly impossible. In ArmA, when I adjust the collective, the aircraft immediately responds to my touch and there's never any 'sudden drop', so to speak. On the other hand, I will sometimes make collective adjustments in DCS and my aircraft will suddenly start plummeting out of the sky - even small adjustments. I've also noticed that the aircraft won't lift off of the ground at anything below 90% collective, but will then rocket into the atmosphere. I'm currently using a Logitech Extreme 3d PRO, with my collective mapped to my #5 and #3 keys. I prefer not to use the slider, because its not comfortable, and seems wonky at times. Is there any way to adjust the collective - to make it more like ArmA - tighter control over the collective?

I disagree with most of your post, but I'm low on time and can't argue each of them individually. so here's the quick reply Tanks & Russia - Sorry but that is a myth that came to fruition in the late years of WW2, when, admittedly the Soviet Union had superior tanks to most other armies. Those days are long gone. You say you want a 'fun' fight, but I'd argue that realism isn't fun. Of course, in the end, this is a video game and the developers can throttle that level of fun and realism to make a good combination. Your A-10 comment - This is now a 'combined arms' game, not just an A10 or Blackshark centric game anymore. Need to face facts. No hate. Just respectfully disagreeing with you.

In case anyone is interested. I have made a few reticules. First is the actual M1 gun site. Second is a standard crosshair for MG's Third is an update to the targeting site, that adds a dot for better precision and accuracy. Enjoy Reticules.zip -

Yes - The autoloader on the T80 causes the gun to elevate its turret in order to load another round. No - The gun on the M1 series does not move off of the target while this is going on. 18 year old? I've seen 40 year old men load a round in less than 7 seconds. It's not easy, and those rounds are HEAVY, but I think it beats an autoloader any day. -

"Study Sim" or whatever, the game should have SOMEWHAT realistic values. For example...a T-55 should have a hell of a hard time killing an M1A2. Another example; In one of my last games, a T-72 killed my M1A2 with 1 shot frontally, hitting the turret. As stated earlier, a T-72 round cannot even penetrate an M1A2's armor. -

Just scratching the surface here... -M1A2's 1600mm of sloped armor in which a T80U's 3VBM19 round cannot even penetrate 650mm at zero degrees -Stabilization on the M1A2's M256 smoothbore gun. When the gunner has the system engaged, the turret will stay exactly where its aimed, no matter how fast or bumpy of a ride. It's pretty awesome. -The CITV (Commanders Independent Thermal Viewer) allows the commander to identify targets while the gunner is engaging previous targets or scanning, then swivel the turret for the gunner, so with a good loader you can kill an enemy vehicle every +/- seven seconds without the gunner even having to find the target. -The M829A3 APFSD and the M256 smoothbore gun combined (see: Battle of 73 Easting, ref: killing T72's before they could even see the M1's) -

I may be biased (being an Armor Officer in the United States Army) but speaking from experience with the M1A1 I would say that from a technological standpoint, the T80 would never outgun the M1A2, even if the M1A2's on the move. -
Good video. I like the air-ground coordination! When do you guys play?
