Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9
nrgized replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
If someone has an opinion that your logic is absurd and they inform you of it and you think it's an attack. Then you should probably stop and evaluate if you're a bit overly sensitive. Your view on the topic is mind blowingly absurd to me. Sorry yo! (Disagreement != attack && Why I think it's redic != attack) And you keep using "good" as a value of measurement. It's not about wether it's excellent or bleh or good. It's value is wether it produces an advantage regardless of its contribution. And having a CGI slot available in another session is just that. And yes I wish that slots weren't visible FYI. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Seriously just leave your pilots license at the door on your way out. F5, Mig 21, Huey, Gazelle, KA50, and a million other aircraft dont have a data link. Even if by some miracle they did it would be nothing like what the F10 GCI maps looks like. I feel like I'm losing brain cells having do describe how ridiculous your thinking is. Oh and you can also see missiles in GCI. You might as well just make everything visible on the map if you think running 2 slots is ok. -

LOL! Or the guys that hop in a slot at a FARP and kill stuff to make it respawn. -
Additional note it looks like the units just don't use there maximum turn radius. As if they are limited to 10-15 degree turn radiuses.
-
The ground units don't like navigating turns. I've tried every possible interim solution to get a simple HUMV to make a right turn and halt 20 or so yards after the turn. The unit will always blow through the intersection loop around with a left hand turn and finally go to the point it was supposed to. Changing speed, setting incremental waypoints as off road and tweaking speed does nothing to stop the above scenario. The attached picture shows the unit out in africa having missed its right hand turn, its pictured doing the left hand loop around.

One thing rarely mentioned about the difference between the 1080 and the 1080ti is the lows when it comes to fps. The 1080ti while it does offer an fps boost, its main feature is how it steadies out the lows and helps with keeping them smooth.
-
One thing I've not considered is how much that would affect LOS which might be a negative of tweaking the box. But I don't know what the engine uses to determine the new LOS rules. If that is the case I'll live with the current situation.

But its not fine in its current state. The current collision of trees is the opposite extreme of when they were not collidable. Just because they are no longer ghosts does not automatically make it O.K Take a the following scale. -1 = Trees are ghosts and can be flown through 0 = Trees are collidable but have minor play +1 = Trees are collidable 100% and are light brick walls For all practical purposes the game isn't going to have realistic collisions with trees. So one would aim for a middle ground. Deadly but not unstoppable forces which is what the scale above illustrates. Since trees are simple objects that get referenced all over terrain and randomly scaled. The work involved wouldn't be much. Modify the hit box for the 5 or so models of trees to allow some play and rebuild the map. FIN.

Point of the video is as described although in hind sight to vague. "If if you think I want the hit boxes smaller because I can't handle them in the current state you would be incorrect." PBK - Person behind keyboard Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yeah a 6-9 hour limit sounds good. Some nice points raised. To add a little more. Units aren't visible on the map so someone would need CA in order to know where to fly supplies to if GCI isn't on. Some nerd could place a bunch of defenses in terrible positions thus having them not persist forever would be a decent balance. If you wanted to get stupid and make it complicated stingers could have a lower persistence time then something like the crated SAMs. 6hrs stinger, 9hrs SAM sites. -
It's easily noticeable if you zoom, in my case vr zooming. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It appears to be the uv coords are not lined up between the different terrain lods. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm being no more dramatic then how the new trees effect helicopters in there current state. Yes you should avoid trees at all costs but watching the outer most leaves rip you out of the sky feels just as cheesy as watching bob fly through them entirely. For you wing jocks the new model is fine however you aren't the only thing flying around. And in case you think its a PBK issue down low I give you exhibit A.
-
Then the hit boxes for trees should be slightly shrunk to fake the ability to hit the outer branches. As it stands you hit a leaf your considered as having collided with a mountain. Because the games collision system has no sense of mass, take the troops destroying helicopters for example, a compromise hit box I would rather deal with then the current situation. The current hit boxes are so over the top it's just as unrealistic as when they didn't exist. Scale the hit boxes down to like 85-65% of the geometries bounding box. Why do you nerds always lock onto something and not the idea. FFS who cares about how many hours it is I had to put some number. It's nice of you to want camaraderie but at what cost and is it realistically possible? How do you balance sides, enjoyment for the users, and the point of the server in a plausible fashion. If people cant switch sides like I suggested then I wish the sever would just start disallowing people to join when a side has a 5+ people advantage. That would suck wouldn't it? But the camaraderie! Just out of curiosity. What is the reason for locking someone to a side? The top two I can think of is you're supposed to pick a side and that's how the round is played. The other would be to stop people from flipping to see what the other is up to and flipping back. If locking isn't for the first reason I listed couldn't the team locks be time based like a number of hours after you join a side they reset automatically? Join blue and 3 hrs later it's auto reset allowing a player to play red. Or if you type a msg in chat it locks you out from all teams for 30 mins and then resets your side. 2.1: (Much) better FPS in both NTTR and Normandy

The metashaders folder isn't the only folder that could cause issues. There is an fxo and another folder that contain cached items. But I wouldn't doubt that the options config might cause issues if not fresh so the simplest to tell people is to just blast the entire thing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Then maybe you should google the topic and learn about it? -

My point was the majority of people saying that 45fps with ASW isnt bad are wing pukes :) -

When you fly nap of the earth in a helo ASW kicking in like when making an abrupt turn, as you do flying NOE, is a deal breaker. ASW doesn't hurt you as much flying high and very little changing. -
This is where I become torn with maps being closed to editing. We get that they take time, resources, and money. Which is generated by sales. Yet it would be really nice if they were an object that could be expanded upon by the community.

Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9
nrgized replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
You're grossly exaggerating and being narrow minded in your scope. Every capturable target in the old setup had the same defenses. There were no light, medium, and heavy defended targets. A Huey, Gazelle-L, MI-8, while given enough ridiculous perseverance could take farps and com-arrays down. The variance in defences for targets was non-existent. Everything followed the same cookie cutter template. Oh and don't forget the solo Mistral taking down points with airstrikes. No where did I say "not require help". I was referring to needing the whole attack stack. CAP and CAS. It would be nice if a Huey, Gazelle, and KA-50 could team up together and be all thats needed to take down light to medium targets. CAP if needed of course. -

I'm sure some guy will come out of the woodwork and say how he would love the shot to sling load all day on BF but I dont see people, in particular myself, wanting to play cargo cows. I wish there were things that helicopters could attack without air support. Sprinkle some farps or small dumps around that gunships can join up and take out without the need for jets. Other then KA-50s there has never been anything that the other gunships can attack without needing the whole food chain to join in. -
If the material system isn't setup to support different render targets? You can check in the DirectX shaders if deferred is enabled but the entire texture loading and configuration system, lua, has no concept of it. Yesterday Razbam said they are only designing textures and shaders for deferred because of this very problem. If the material system isn't going to be updated to allows devs to configure textures depending on the render path then you might as well remove it as a user option. Just asking for trouble otherwise. On a side note I'm glad it's an option for the time being after seeing all the issues. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
