  2. As much as I'd like better tech this games main event loop is the singular limiter of performance. Until that's fixed bigger more complex vr games will crush dcs. CPU is what you need more then anything right now for this engine and will probably need for the foreseeable future. And foveated rendering. LOL lemme know when that appears on EDs radar because I have a suspicion it will be on par with there sli focus. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Dude the smallest game communities are always the most distrusting/accusation making nerds you will ever find. MP community is so small cheats are the last thing that should be on anyone's radar. Yet they are a singular item of maddening focus ISIS is even jealous of the dedication. I wouldn't exactly call this ray tracing or slow... bool TriggerZone::isInside(point) { return ( sqrt( (this->x - point.x) * (this->x - point.x) + (this->y - point.y) * (this->y - point.y) ) <= this->radius ); } If your main event loop is already getting all player units it would be faster to just call this yourself instead of having LUA call back into the engine. And unfortunately I wouldn't put it above this game if it were doing something else insane instead of the above.
  9. Required reading? I think history should be. Especially the part about how game companies switched from internal alphas closed betas to letting the public do it for them.   10. I know it's beta blah blah. Tried the new version for the first time this weekend. I don't know what to think. Didn't have the L or Mistral which instantly made it hard to enjoy objectively. Flew around as a spectator just to see what the bases, farps, and fuel dumps look like. I gotta say the I don't know what to think about the massive number of buildings that make up the current points. Had a moment of huh what is this. 16 bunkers at fuel dumps? Where's the fuel? One farp had an sa18, sa8 and sa3. If any of those don't spawn my point is a farp had 3 types of sams. Things were spawned in weird formations. Really don't like that helos dont spawn at bases. Tried to rearm a Huey at a farp which wasn't possible. Blue is really boned on farps between tiblisi and senaki. There is a huge gap for blue in terms of farps between these two bases. It's very easy for red coming south to choke off the east and west blue bases. Red almost always has access to close bases even when being pushed back. Blue has the opposite. There is a huge gap flight time wise that needs to be filled in this part of the map. One farp near the old mm05 is only viggens. Speaking of which viggens are everywhere. Last is the whole fuel flying around stuff. I'm not sure I like the direction it's heading. The old version while airquakeish did have its teamwork and realism, mainly thanks to the amazing srs I experienced. The new version seems like it's designed for the super hardcore and imo just seems boring. I get the idea behind it and while it's a valiant attempt I think if it continues its present coarse that it's to much in the hard core/boring direction. I feel like I need to fly with 5 close friends because of the complexity. Where as the old one I could make due with randoms. I really wish the fuel were AI planes and if you wanted to do it yourself you could. I loved setting up air defenses on the old map as a helo but I'll tell you this now. I'll never play as a fuel mule. Who seriously would find that enjoyable? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I was going to E3 to see the new joystick. Now I seriously think I'll just skip it and go into work. What a huge disappointment that pos is.

  14. I dont run an egg timer when I refuel but it sure seems like more than 5 minutes when I do it. Think I've actually played through a couple of songs while refueling in a 15.
  15. Deferred is not backwards compatible with not deferred rendering. Thus if someone is making skins to support deferred they are not backwards compatible.
  16. Not like its a big deal but why can't anti-tank troops take a base? I get mortar troops being excluded. Maybe I'm looking at it because I secretly wish when a base was closed a few jeeps and troops spawned as base security in a last ditch effort on the points part. Then anti-tank would be useful.

  18. Yeah the starting on ships idea seems like a very interesting scenario. Can already think of things like helos setting up farps IF they can reach land. Mirage/Vigen going to red I'd be fine with. As for the current situation all I care about is it should take all the fighters roughly the same time to get airborne. If that means one empty, full, or half so be it. I dont fly fighters much but when I've been bored and wanted to I almost fell asleep waiting for my 15 to fuel up. Didn't know about the fuel tanks trick.

  21. I don't play red but I'm not thrilled with how there are like zero red specific aircraft/helicopters currently in the pipe. I like how rb trys its best to keep aircraft on respective sides. Looking at the Harrier, F-18, F-14 makes me wish there was a good red aircraft coming out. Going to eventually have the conversation about what to do with 3 new blue aircraft coming.
  22. Even though I myself always used mortar troops and liked the ability to help CAS kill stuff with them. I must say I like the change. :) I liked flying the Mistral but wasn't fond of them mainly spawning in the northern bases/farps when playing blue. Always wished they spawned everywhere. I would regularly fly 60+ miles to sochi from the southern farp because it was the closest that spawned Mistrals. Are the spawn points for helos still not uniform like the previous version? I haven't had a chance to play the new map and obv with it in rough beta atm things may be missing/in flux but has anyone that has played this new iteration care to chime in on current helo slots?
  23. Nobody said it wasn't useful. I love playing GCI on the weekends. A few threw insults at those rare people that double connect. Lets move on.
