  1. LOL! After all my years I've learned one single important fact... If a developer releases screenshots or talks about something you are almost 99% getting it that way. Rarely does it change. You're almost required to flip out and have a tantrum if you want any glimmer of hope that it will be changed. The "oh its pre-alpha blah blah blah" person... Well lets just say you could probably successfully sell them real-estate on the moon.
  2. It feels good. I'm still waiting on my cyclic, its been pushed two weeks back, before I can build a platform and hook everything up. Only information I can provide is without it hooked up. Pros: Packaging was great no worries once I had the box open. I'm a little surprised at how light it is. I expected it to weight more. Don't take that to mean it feels fragile though. The tubing is solid, looks like 1/8 in, and wont bend or dent unless you were to swing it like a baseball bat at something. The button box is nice 3d printed material with a slight fine sandpaper grit texture. The buttons feel solid including the start trigger. The base has very tight tolerances. I would say that even with the eventual wear it should hold up with little play. Cons: The coolie hat is a dangerous weapon with how pointy it is :) I might take some heat and melt some of the tip into a ball or just file a little of it down. I actually was surprised when I looked at pictures of the real button and how pointy it is. However the real one does have a small ball like tip to it. Instructions! I understand a lot of people that make/use these sort of things tend to have certain knowledge of things. I do not and while I don't mind having to learn, a pointer of where to start would be much appreciated. The new tutorial section on the website is a great first start providing that! I can't wait till I can fire this baby up. Yogi did a great job. Despite the language barrier there was good communication throughout the ordering process. We all know the flight sim gear market is small and when you find a provider things can be expensive and/or take forever to get in your hands. I was willing to pay a premium for a quality item in a reasonable time frame and I'm glad that's what I got. I'd buy from microhelis again, thanks yogi!
  3. The color of the NVGs in the new test images is a place holder while I work on the real major change(s) to the mod. The two main features of the updated mod are color corrections specific to brightness and the use of LUTs (look up tables). Being able to sample a photograph and mimic its color palette has long been my goal since I started the mod. I've to built a system that allows me to sample an image and generate a 2d LUT of which is then used by the NVG system for coloring the image. That way I don't have to fight back room colorists and directors about what green looks correct. I deal with that enough at work :). The attached image shows the sample on the left, sample generated LUT in the middle, and finally a rough (none of the brightness specific color correction enabled) sample of DCS. Creating your own personalized NVGs would only require you to generate a LUT image and place it in the NVG mod.
  4. The 104th server has a special kind of bone your fps going on that is unique to itself. Looking on the map you see 8000 objects sprinkled all over the place and start to understand whats going on. Plus I think clouds are turned on been a while don't recall. The 104th server is unplayable in VR so I don't even pay attention to it on the server list.
  5. This isn't about how stupid or smart someone is when it comes to making purchasing choices. Its about how one can instantly recognize which servers at a glance are connectable. A map is a very clear descriptor for whether you can play or not. Asset packs are like viruses. They can be sprinkled all over the place infecting things that were previously accessible and making the clear distinction that a map provides watered down. Someone the other day described the perfect example of why its a problem.
  6. If only there was random shading on the grass it would go a long way to breaking it up. Without random shading on the grass we will always run into spatial anti-aliasing :/
  7. Sorry but the top third of that image and the others look like a carpet. The blades of grass are to thin and with all that transparency and sampling it just blurs into a mush.
  8. Just received an email that my Huey collective shipped today. The Huey cyclic I ordered is estimated to ship sometime the middle of this month. I'll post a few snaps as each piece arrives. Really looking forward to seeing Yogi's work!
  9. I dont know what youre talking about. I played a few weeks ago with AWACS in left ear my flight in right ear and people talking at the same time just fine.
  10. I only posted preview screenshots its not finished yet. Heres a video of a moonless night... The noise still needs work but should give a decent idea of the changes.
  11. It's been a long time... The original mod was a proof of concept and while it was a step up from the default nvg's it had its issues. Mainly that the multiplication of the image was linear which would result in the brights getting super blown out. I always wanted to come back and make the nvg's color corrections specific to lows, mids, and highs. So... I've attached some screenshots of nvgmod 2.0. The new update adds noise based on ambient light conditions, I.E if the sun/moon are out. On a moonless night the googles have a lot of visible noise while on a full moon the noise is almost non-existent. The blowing out of highs/mids has been extremely reduced. You can fly a Huey down the main street of a city and still make out road details. P.S: The new update looks amazing in VR!
  12. The test scenarios I use for judging performance... With the latest SteamVR update I'm able to bump up draw distance from low to high maintaining the same fps.
  13. Got stuck on this guy somehow. I flew around trying to drop him off on random things without any success. Eventually though he came free or perhaps he just had enough of me flying him around Batumi and let go.
  14. I ordered an extension for my warthog joystick thinking I'd simply have a box fabricated to make up for the difference in height the joystick was missing. I've seen some of the ingenious stands people have built, the ones using drain pipes, however I wanted something solid and didn't have to worry much about in terms of build quality. I expected it to cost some coin however after getting a quote today from a few metal shops in town I'm seriously thinking of just buying the B8 cyclic now. Building a small raised floor box and picking up the cyclic would be around the same price and less hassle. Did I understand you correctly Yogi that a a single Button Box and Joystick Controller is enough for the UH1 collective and cyclic?
  15. Speak for yourself... I feel like I'm going to have nothing but questions when I open my box :P
  16. I ended up ordering a Huey collective for myself after Icebear posted. Same experience of a quick response and friendly.
  17. Please keep this thread updated with the any microhelis updates. I really wanna pull the trigger on a collective and was thinking of ordering one myself. The lack of controllers available really sucks. I get its a small market but even small markets have sellers. Helicopter gear sellers are almost non-existant. I'd seriously pay someone top dollar at this point if they could just produce a good quality item in a decent time frame.
  18. Needing to explain that you can see a pane of glass is mind-boggling. What answer don't I like? The one where people say glass is 100% transparent and doesn't alter light passing thought it or that glass is invisible? I'd sure like to know how you don't walk into glass doors if you can't see them. Someone delete the thread already...
  19. Please just stop with the replies if you think glass is 100% transparent and invisible. I don't know what else to say sorry.
  20. Posting high contrast images with overblown highlights doesn't help the topic much. The first two pics had completely different darkness levels in the yellow side windows because of the exposure. Just look at the sky. If your pics had a piece of plain white paper on the aft piece of glass and another in front to calibrate as the WP that be something better to compare against then the unfortunate wildly varying exposed images. It's their and not really a question, how much is whats the discussion. Saying it doesn't exist period is ignoring material science because glass is not 100% transparent.
  21. Noticeable and doesn't exist are not mutually the same thing.
  22. It's not incorrect for a couple of reasons. Glass isn't 100% transparent especially when viewing through 3 layers of it with a canopy and 2 panes of glass from the HUD. Their are enough images on the Internet that show the HUD slightly darkens the light coming through. The reflective glass that catches the HUD projection. Different colors from different glass. F-18 Dark almost purple tint A-10 tint Because I was unabe to find a decent A-10 pic that is properly calibrated with a decent whitepoint and ISO I've not messed with the color much and mainly set it up for a 10% tint.
  23. Do more then just a walk around pls. Show the stability of the rig, shake it because in all the pics it looks weak. Particularly it looks front heavy. Show the insides with the cover off. I wanna see the mirrors and everything. Anything else to help sell 2k worth of someone's money.
  24. This is a first attempt to adding some glass in the A-10C cockpit for the HUD. The cockpit model does not contain any glass although the exterior full 3D model does. This mod hacks the HUD UI LUA scripts and draws 2 panes of glass. Its pretty minimal and is really only designed to give a slight tint and darkness to the world on the other side of the panes of glass. It does not do reflections or any other spiffy sort of thing you can think up of. Readme.txt has info on adjusting the color and alpha for the glass. Note: Finding the right shade/darkness was near impossible, Google either showed darn near transparent glass or fairly dark glass in my search results. If anyone has a decent cockpit shot of an A-10 for reference and wants to go super anal and pixel f*ck what the real values should be please be my guest and post. Cheers Download - Link
